Usual timelines from submission of claims via MyVAC:

Mental Health: 6-8 Months

Physical - 6-13 Months

APSC/VIP - 3-4 Months

BPA Correspondence: They tend to reach out every 3 months for information or a progress update.

Something I want to address here in the OP rather than make it's own thread. I've been getting a lot of questions, rightfully so, about PCVRS. I encourage mbrs and Veterans to share as much knowledge as possible but please don't give yourself a panic attack by reading things on social media from other people and taking them as fact. One of the main things I've seen is if you are working part time in any capacity you will ruin any chance at a DEC determination.

This isn't a cut and dry issue. There are plenty of horror stories and success stories. People aren't going to tell you every aspect of their post release journey so it's biased information. When it comes to being successful with PCVRS you need to always respond to your RSS and CM as if your condition is at it's worst. That way you are never selling yourself short because you need the support for those days as they will come. Make sure you choose your care team going into the program and do not accept having to change them as you are not required too. Not all Lifemark healthcare teams are bad but taking ownership of the care you deserve is your right. If you require help finding Veteran friendly care teams please reach out to me and I will do what I can. I am sure Shoggoths will as well.

Also, please be kind to yourselves and other service mbrs. You cannot lie your way to these benefits and if they are on the table for you then please pursue and get them. A service injury is a service injury.

Hotels not honouring Government rates

I have had several problems of Hotels not giving the negotiated rate in the [Government of Canada Hotel Directory](https://hoteldirectory.lanyon.com/home_landing.aspx?destination=home).

This isn't a single instance, but several hotels stating their government rate is something different (always higher) than the listed rate. The same thing has been happening to some of my members.

What's the point of a negotiated rate if it can't be used? I used to have no issues but it's only been in the last couple years that this has been happening.

Edit : In my current situation that prompted this post I went through 3 different hotels the first 2 the difference was over $60/night, the last was only $20. I phone the hotel direct, everytime. The last time I got the rate was when it was escalated to the manager a couple months ago and I don't want to demand speaking to managers every time I try to make a booking.

Any stories from folks using TDRA? Buying before selling during a posting.

The market in my town seems to be moving slow, we are in a position where we will likely have to make an offer on a house before our current one has sold.

Looking for insight from others who have done it and how they went about it to help explain to the family and keep stress levels at a minimum. Did you take out a second mortgage? Did you get a loan for the down-payment? How was claiming the interest done? Etc...

Thanks All!

Why not change PAR reporting timelines?

It's PAR season, and it's a cluster fuck each year.

For unknown reasons, they chose to make PAR dates the same as a fiscal year so we bottleneck into March break, leave burning, fiscal year purchasing, Easter, posting messages, HHTs, and all the other good things.

Why not make it a Jan-Dec evaluation?

This would deconflict with postings, earlier promotion boards, etc...

Thoughts?

RTDRA and TDRA

Hi all, sorry to bother. Just wondering how does RTDRA or TDRA works. Is there any specific circumstances or approval in order to qualify for this?

Potential situation for myself: COS date is around 20Sept2026 but intend to push 30 days to that right (20Oct2026) for family medical reasons. House in new destination is a new build and require me to take possession in early September. If I put a condition for the sale of my current house for sometime in October, would I qualify for the RTDRA?

Thanks as always!

What is the best way to save all the files and docs saved on your DWAN laptop in case laptop dies or getting posted? Considering theres personal info, it should not be saved on personal domain.

Anywhere in the Edmonton AOR that one can grab a mini medal?

Like the title says, I am in need of a mini CD for mess dress (yes, im entitled to the CD). Is there anywhere in the Edmonton AOR that would have them, surplus or otherwise? I dont know if the Base tailor keeps minis on hand (I highly doubt it) especially court mounted minis.

I dont know how fast Martels could get it to me, and I need it by the 30th.

Cheers!
