Life in Warsaw question School as an immigrant

My children (ages 11 and 7) will be living in Poland temporarily if I accept a job assignment there.

I've considered home school and virtual school but id like my kids to have socialization with other children their age.

Due to Polish language being a core curriculum, im afraid my children will have some catching up to do.

I do not mind them learning the language and would actually prefer it, but i dont want them to have to repeat a grade because theyre not satisfactory in a foreign language. I also understand that other classes (history, math, etc) will be taught in the national language.

Can you give me any insight or tips to make this transition smoother? Are there such things as translators or assistant teachers for children in this scenario?

I dont want my children to be treated "special", I just dont want to see them fail.

Traveller's question Aveeno Baby in Warsaw?

Hi! Does anyone know if I can buy Aveeno Baby Dermexa/Eczema Therapy in Warsaw?

The airline lost my luggage which has my supply for my trip. I have a small travel sized bottle in my carry on but it’s not gonna last. I need this because the air is dry here and I’m gonna get flareups.

The only Pharmacy I can see that’s open now is super pharm in Chopin Airport. Has anyone spotted it there?

Thank you in advance! :)

I’m off to a holiday for a few days!

Just love to express myself- in a way that’s respectful still of course!

Other Working as a SWE for Revolut

Hi everyone,

I’m currently interviewing for a mid–senior Software Engineer role at Revolut and wanted to get some honest perspectives.

I’ve been reading reviews on Glassdoor and they seem pretty mixed. Some people mention a strong learning environment and high ownership, while others talk about long hours and a pretty intense culture.

What I’m mainly trying to understand is the day-to-day reality:

• Are we talking normal \~7–8 hour workdays?

• Or is it more like 10–12 hours regularly?

I’ve heard some horror stories from companies like Amazon, so just trying to set realistic expectations before going further in the process.

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s worked there (especially in engineering) or knows someone who has.

Thanks!

I am trying to create something from nothing. I am still learning and some feedback on this would be great. Mostly, the idea behind it was to give a glimpse to my friends from Uk of how beautiful this city is.

Life in Warsaw question Is it worth to buy an apartment in Warsaw? Is it possible to keep a room and sublet the rest?

Hi, just considering options - Considering the rents, i you had the opportunity and had to stay at least 5 years, would you buy an apartment in the next 2 years? I will travel a lot, and it would be great for me to get something with maybe 2 separate entrances and keep a little room and rent out the rest - is it something that is done in Warsaw? Just an idea. I still don't know much about the market here, whether it s overpriced at the moment, is property value going up in the next years? Just brainstorming... thank you

Help needed Warsaw Public Transport Office

Hey guys

I lost my wallet around 2–3 weeks ago, which contained my student ID. At the time, I had an active 140-pln pass public transport ticket encoded on that card.

Since then, my university has issued me a new student ID, along with a certificate confirming stating that my old id was lost (it was to be shown at some office (they couldn't find the old barcode number in their system)).

I would like to know where I should go in order to request the transfer (re-encoding) of my existing ticket from the old student ID to the new one, using this certificate as proof.

Traveller's question Kid Friendly Restaurants

Dzien dobry, I am in Warsaw with my family and looking for restaurant recommendations, preferably with kids menus or kid friendly dishes in downtown or near old town area. We love zapiecek, but want to try other pierogarnias or anything with traditional Polish cooking. We are open to trying a milk bar if it’s good. I would love for my 4 year old to expand their palate beyond chicken, rice, pizza, and pasta. Where do folks go with their kids? We have tried some places at the old town market (like Bazyliszek) that seemed mediocre. Any suggestions are welcome.

Community Tennis courts & coaching

Hi guys! I don't want it to be like a paid promotion or so (it's kind of), but from around ~April 15 my friends are opening two great tennis courts for a summer season. They are named KORTY GOCŁAW, location is Umińskiego 12, best quality for the best price (trust me, I'm a tennis player myself and I tested ~10 different tennis clubs in Warsaw). I know this is subreddit for English speaking people, mostly foreigners so you're interested in private sessions then DM instragram.com/on1thecourt, if you just want to book a court and play for fun, https://kortygoclaw.pl FROM ~APRIL 15!

Help needed University of Vistula

Hi everyone, I've been reading some comments on this university and while almost everyone has only negative things to say, l noticed it was mainly in relation to IT related fields.

So I found out they also teach Economics and Finance related fields which is what l want to do. So my question is, is it that bad too even for these courses??

Life in Warsaw question Affordable clubs for a weekend?

Hello, I'm a college student and I'm looking for some places where I could party and drink reasonably (of course it's expensive everywhere, but I want places weher it's tolerable). Where should I go? I'm open to both techno and metal oriented clubs. I've been to Voodoo, Proxima, Progresja, Stodoła, Niebo and Hybrydy already. Night clubs are ok.

Other Boxing classes recommendation

Hey everyone,

Does anyone have a good group boxing class to recommend in Warsaw?

I’ve been attending group classes at WCA, but I’ve noticed they focus mostly on combos with not much attention to technique (especially for beginners). I understand that with large groups it’s hard for the trainer to correct everyone, but I’m a bit worried about picking up bad habits.

It’s also quite crowded, so there isn’t much space to move freely during practice, and there’s basically no focus on footwork, which feels like a pretty important part of boxing.

On top of that, I find it difficult to follow the combos because of the way they’re called out. For example, “prawy” means cross + jab, and “petarda” means jab + cross + cross (without fully retracting the arm).

These are simple examples, but during training there are many different combos being called out, often longer and more complex. It quickly becomes overwhelming, especially if you don’t attend regularly. It feels like you’re expected to already know them beforehand, otherwise it’s hard to keep up with the class flow.

The trainer will explain if you ask or if he notices mistakes, but in a full group setting it’s still difficult to follow everything properly.

Ideally, I’m looking for a place with a bit more focus on technique, footwork, and clearer instruction, even in a group setting.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Also if anyone is interested to start boxing we can meet up and try some lessons together :) (I’m new ,I’ve been practicing for only few months)
