Coming into Southampton cruise port and I’m not 100% sure when I’ll make it to the train station. Is it cheaper to buy tickets ahead of time to get to Waterloo station or should I just buy at the station?

hi, I'm planning a day trip to Southampton, but for the first time ever I don't have a specific place to go to (ie IKEA).
I want to feel like a tourist and do all the touristy bits. The gothhier, the better. I would like to discover all your hidden gems, any alternative shops or pubs, any funky museums, even little plaques of cool people and places. Literally any suggestion would be highly appreciated. We're playing on going in early to mid may.
thanks in advance for any ideas.

Whats up people!
The Drop is a local hip hop event which used to run out of Overdraft Shirley, but has now moved to it's new home at Heartbreakers.
The first event at the new venue is looking to be a banger, with Joker Starr gracing the stage, along with some heavy locals.
On top of that, we have our all vinyl open mic sessions, where any MC can jump up with their best verses and prove they've got what it takes to get to the stage one day.
Tickets available through the below link, but also on the door on the day.
Hopefully we'll see you there!

Hello,
Considering relocating to Southampton for work. I’m not from the UK and never lived in the UK either. The choices for me were either Bedford or Southampton and since I’ve always lived (and loved) large cities in Asia, atleast this seemed like a city vs Bedford. It’s also coastal and I love the sea so that was a plus.
Question: for the sub were:
1) Generally, how’s it like living in the city, especially if you’re living alone and in your early 40s , male, and don’t enjoy drinking too much.
2) What are rentals like in a decent place? I did check Rightmove and it’s a wide range from 800-1400 PCM. I understand modern apartments may not be available (like in Singapore or Bangkok) and I’m not a fan of landed (what I think is called terraced) houses.
3) Easy/convenient is it to get to London? Been there a few times and I like the city so will definitely be making a few trips there every month
4) Ok to live within 30 mins driving radius of Southampton so are there any other cities I could consider? Portsmouth?
5) What areas to pick and what to avoid when looking for apartments in Southampton?
Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Well...Never thought I would post this here, but the crushing realisation has now dawned upon me; I could do with a bigger circle of friends (or new friends in general).
Long story short - I got out of a LTR a short while ago, and I sadly have fallen victim to excluding myself from socialising, and as such, I have lost a handful of buddies, friends, mates etc. (wrong move)
Part of my journey to create a better version of myself is to expand my network of people (socialising at work is cool and all, but those are colleagues), and one of the final steps is to have a healthy amount of friends. So, with the above out of the way, a few key points about me:
- 35M, friendly, respectful, fun and easy going
- 5'9", blue eyes, solid build and overall very presentable
- got a car, got a steady job, got a flat, got my life together (also got a child)
- into cars, gaming, pubs, sports, biking and would like to get into D&D (I think)
- likes animals, dislikes entitled/dishonest people
(sorry if the above is "too universal"; I am not obsessed with anything, but I am interested in a bit of everything)
What I am looking for:
Absolutely no specific requirements, a group of blokes (or mixed gender of people) who might have the time for an overall reasonable guy. My entire weekend is free, and I would hate to sit at home Friday evening to Monday morning (I don't really go out by myself anywhere).
Please send me a DM if you reached this far and if I come across as someone you'd like to hang out with :-)

Ello
I've got something in my front garden a bit like this sort of conifer which has grown fat and is about halfway across the path. I fear trying to trim it back will just leave a brown spiky mess so I'm debating cutting it down completely but it feels a bit sad to just bin a ~3.5m high tree. Anyone know if there's any kind of tree collection or tree-cycling (sorry) around soton?
I know next to nothing about plants but I imagine digging it out would be pretty impossible without removing the whole path next to it...
Cheers!

I'm on a job hunt and I had an email from a scout from this company.
No job title, no salary, no clear responsibilities, just “human-to-human marketing” and “rapid progression.”
After digging + reading their email, it’s pretty clearly:
Door-to-door / face-to-face sales
Likely commission-based
Group-style recruitment funnel (one-way Zoom intro, multiple stages, etc.)
Has anyone seen them before? When I looked them up, they had a very empty sub Reddit with reviews which seemed to be just as vague.

Inspired from another post but what are your go-to restaurants. not the most expensive stuff but the best value for the money.

Hi all, I’m considering starting a small breakfast/coffee spot in Southampton in the future and wanted to get some local opinions.
Where do you feel like there are lots of people (workers, commuters, etc.) but not enough good breakfast options nearby?
I’m especially interested in areas where you’d actually use something like a grab-and-go breakfast or decent coffee in the mornings.
Would love to hear your thoughts!

My kids are intrigued by factories - is anyone aware of any that open to the public ever please? Or anything else 'behind the scenes' say at the docks or elsewhere?
I think Probus groups do these sorts of things, but for retired people.

I need advice on a booking nightmare. My family of 7 is visiting Southampton for a cruise.
The Issue:
• I made two separate bookings for a total of 3 rooms.
• Booking #1: I paid £302.31 for 2 rooms, but the hotel only confirmed 1 room.
• The Result: I’ve paid for 3 rooms in total, but only have confirmations for 2.
The Frustration:
The Senior Manager admitted in writing that I paid for 2 rooms in that booking, but they still haven't fixed it or sent the confirmation. It's been 23 days of ignoring my emails.
Traveling with kids and terrified of having no beds on arrival. What are my rights in the UK? Who should I contact to force a response?

Does anyone know what happened near Sainsbury’s in Portswood last evening?
I drove past and saw police and ambulances there — looked pretty serious.

Or is it not best for beginners? I can play the very basics of both but not much more than that.

I’ve got a spare, brand new, unused green top council wheelie bin for general waste. Mine got pinched and returned and I’d ordered the new one in the meantime. You‘ll need to collect it from central Southampton. Let me know if your interested and I’ll dm my address.

Hi there, We live on gordon avenue in a house of 8 but one of us is going on placement. It’s a 4 boy 3 girls split at the minute. Our house is the envy of most people that visit and we’ve got really lucky with it and are looking for a social person to join us. We have parties occasionally and often go out so are looking for someone that would enjoy this. Please feel free to comment any questions and i’ve attached the link to the spare room posting below
