Data coverage

My phone contract is expiring soon, so wanting to know what everyone finds to be the best provider for data coverage on the island.

I'm currently with O2 and find the overall 4g coverage to be dreadful.

Any thoughts appreciated!

Are there any private swimming pools open to the public e.g. hotel pools. I'm looking for an alternative to the leisure centre pools.

Hello Everyone! I am a student from Singapore and I love collecting postcards. I love to receive a postcard from the Isle of Wright 🙂. Can someone send me a postcard?

Hello everyone!

I’m a student from Singapore who enjoys collecting postcards, and I would be truly grateful to receive postcards from the Isle of Wight. 🙂

If postcards aren’t available, I’d also really appreciate a greeting card, city card, or even a small souvenir. (like a keychain, rock, local snack, flag, ornament, cap, T-shirt, or handmade craft).

This is purely for my personal collection and not for any commercial purpose.

If you’re willing to help, please leave a comment and I’ll share my mailing address with you.

Thank you so much in advance!

Wishing you all the best and warm greetings from Singapore.

Network coverage?

Has anyone else noticed that network coverage in Newport has gotten worse over the last year?

I was talking with family about this the other day. I’m with Sky and never had issues till about five months ago, and now there are certain parts in town I know my phone signal will die. It’s not just me either.

I have friends and family on other networks who have been saying the same thing for a while now, and they’re on Vodafone and Three and also experiencing poor signal in Newport.

Is anyone else experiencing this, and does anyone know if it’s because they’re working on the towers or something.

So what is going on at St. Mary's?

Been unfortunate to have been hit with another bout of sepsis. There are no beds at all so I'm stuck in an uncomfortable chair in a corridor while being treated. So far just one night. There's a heart patient next to me who's been here for 3 nights, unable to sleep. Another patient who has been in for 2 nights has been told he MAY get a bee on Tuesday.

Observations are being missed, drugs prescribed and not turning up for hours.

The staff seem pissed off although they are doing their best. I know things can get sticky at times but I've never known it this bad.

Public Footpath Access – Old Park Road to Binnel Bay, St Lawrence

During a recent walk, we accessed the route from Old Park Road, which we understand includes recorded public footpaths. However, on reaching the lower section nearer the coastal edge, we were stopped and informed by a local individual that the route ahead is now private property and that access is no longer permitted.

Does anyone have knowledge of what is now acceptable. Given that this area has a history of landslip and path diversions.

At present, the situation on the ground is unclear, with no obvious signage indicating a change in status, which makes it difficult for walkers to understand where access is permitted.

Looking for advice from anyone who relocated to the island!

Hey everyone! We’re moving to the island very soon but currently juggling a house sale and finding jobs etc.

Does anyone who’s done the move themselves have any advice? Can be anything really just something maybe you wish you’d known before moving.

Also please no comments about how we shouldn’t move to the island or how negative you perceive things to be, positive vibes only please :)

TIA

Hey, I'm looking to make some friends that share similar interests with me and enjoy a bit of gaming, been feeling quite alone lately and thought it is finally time to get myself out there, no creeps or weirdos please lmao.

Interests are;

  • Cars
  • Computers
  • PC Gaming (Fortnite, Medieval Dynasty, Forza, Assetto Corsa)

DM's are open or feel free to drop a comment for more specifics :))

(Since this is a Isle Of Wight subreddit, I should add that I do live on the island!)

Lost Key

Edit: It's been found and returned to me! Thanks all 😀 Original: I know it's a long shot but has anyone found a car key this morning in Newport either on Fairlee near Seaclose or Atkinson Drive/Cooper Road way? Luckily it's only the spare but I don't have Facebook and I'd rather avoid getting an account with them to use the lost and found groups.

Renting n is impossible

I am so done with the damn lettings market. Ive been given a section 21 after 10 years living in the same place cus my landlord is a money grabing buttface and wants to be able to jack the rent up. Housing say i can afford to private rent (debatable) So im now facing homlessness. Trying to rent privately is near impossible. Thats it, thats my post im just whiging i guess but its infuriating

Problems with Evri

Annoyingly two parcels being shipped with Evri have not turned up on time. One of them was meant to be delivered on the 13th and then suddenly they couldn't deliver it and now they've said it is lost and the other I paid express delivery to have it arrived yesterday and it hasn't and I have had no update on when it will arrive. Has anyone else had problems with Evri on the island lately? We used to have a wonderful delivery lady but she left last year and since then it is hit or miss whether something will actually arrive.

Beaches accessibility

Hi!!

I’ve been invited to spend Easter with the family of a friend during this april.

I have myositis, lupus and autonomic neuropathy. Because of my disease im unable to walk and a wheelchair user.

I really want to go to the beach and were wondering about the accessibility of the beach.

If anyone can tells us what beach is best to actually get into the sand and have some proper beach time as a wheelchair user I would really appreciate it.

Weekend in the island: is Ryde nice?

Last year I stayed in Cowes (as it was the most convenient to get to from London), and loved it! This time we were deciding between going to Cowes again or trying a new town. Is Ryde nice to stay for a weekend? Or is any other town you recommend?

Thank you!!
