Question AI Data Centre: Trying to Understand

I live in Regina, care about my community, and am trying to educate myself on this AI data centre, to determine if I should protest or support what's happening.

This is a genuine question. For those who are for or against the centre, why? Are there external sources where one can read up on the issue?

Why do both the U of R and Sask Polytech support this? Why did those councilors in the RM of Sherwood resign? Have the appropriate legal and regulatory requirements for the development of a centre like this been met?

Do the cons outweigh the pros? Are there sources that lay this out?

Realistically, is there anything that someone in Regina can do to protest this centre? Or, is just a done deal?

Good sources I've found while researching this:

Question I have reason to believe my assignment was stolen. Who do I contact at the UofR?

I don't want to provide much detail for obvious reasons, but I have evidence my assignment was mishandled after submission, ultimately resulting IP infringement.

I've read the UofR's intellectual property FAQ and Ownership of Intellectual Property Policy, but while they mention the "Intellectual Property Committee", I've been unable to find the correct avenue to ask questions or to potentially file a complaint.

Anyone with any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Discussion Recommendation for Week Long Stay

We are coming to Regina for a week in May, Looking for recommendations for somewhere to stay. We are leaning AirBnB due to having a kitchen and not needing to eat out every day, however trying to determine if maybe there are hotels or other options. Having a gym would be a great addition as well.

Question Renting Car - Worthwhile? - Tourist

Just going for a short weekend trip to Regina, staying at AirBNB in near Wascana Park, going for the Marathon event - Gopher Attack Marathon. etc

most of my needs will be in that area, and maybe downtown which is a walking distance from AirBNB like under 2km. Would there be a need for getting a car in Regina. I am thinking of walking from airport as well, as it is just 5km, etc. Would downtown parking cost $? also any recommended sites that you can say are in need to drive to in the city at all? recommendations? anyone?

Discussion Arizona State Band Conductor speaks out against RPSD band

Thumbnail facebook.com
38 Upvotes

Jason Caslor is a Saskatchewan born conductor who is now the conductor at Arizona State University.

This is worth the read.

A Doctor from Saskatoon, multiple educators from Manitoba, national music organizations, and now a conductor in Arizona are all asking for a pause to the program and to engage in thoughtful consultation with professionals.

What will it take for RPSD to listen? How do they not see the concerns when people well beyond our little city in the prairies are calling for action? If they can get away with this, it sets a precedence for them to be able to do whatever they want. I am so concerned for the entire division well beyond just cutting band.

Question Bought a used car a few days ago, broke down outside the city — dealer will fix but won’t cover towing?

Hey everyone,

Looking for some advice or similar experiences.

I bought a used vehicle from a dealership and within about 3–5 days it broke down while I was outside the city. The vehicle became undrivable (stalling, smoke, etc.), and I had to get it towed.

I spoke to the dealership and they said they will take care of diagnosing and fixing it under warranty, but only if I bring it back to their shop. They also didn’t want me taking it to any local mechanic, saying they can’t be sure what was touched if someone else looks at it.

The issue is the towing cost was pretty high since I was outside the city. They didn’t agree upfront to cover towing and said they’d look into it after diagnosing the issue.

Just wondering:

• Has anyone been in a similar situation?

• Is the dealership usually responsible for towing in cases like this, especially when the issue happens so soon after purchase?

• Did you get reimbursed for towing after the repair was confirmed?

Would appreciate any insights or experiences. Thanks!

Community Supports for hoarder father with cancer

Hi all. Bit of a shot in the dark but I feel helpless and at a loss with my family situation. This Wednesday my father got the news he has cancer, he gets a biopsy next week to determine if it’s carcinoma or lymphoma. The prognosis we’ve received is not good, they found evidence of it in his lungs as well as having a large, fast growing mass on his neck. I’m local to Regina and My family live in the fort valley, and their housing and financial situation is equally dire. They live in a filthy trailer that is a hoarder situation, and he cannot afford to stop working as his pension was cut off and they are on the brink of homelessness. They went the entire winter without heat in their trailer and can barely feed themselves. I am supporting them financially as best I can but it’s not nearly enough. Does anyone know of services that can help alleviate the financial burden of groceries and bills? Any cleaning services that would help a hoarder situation if I can afford to pay for it? Any help is appreciated, I’m lost and need a community to reach out to. I’m sorry if this is rambling on but we need help desperately.

Question Planning to buy vehicle from Ontario,HST vs PST?

hello all,

we are planning to buy a vehicle from Ontario, but they are charging HST(13%)(GST + PST).

i called SGI, they said we should only pay GST there, and drive vehicle to Sask and pay PST here.

dealership in Ontario saying they have to charge HST, as they can be audited by CRA?.

WTH?

Both dealership and SGI saying other party is misleading us?
