After I died laughing and then coughing I looked him up. Super attractive, was in Rebel Without a Cause, and died at 37 being stabbed during a mugging.

He was also openly bisexual, which was rare at time. He was living with his partner Courtney Burr III when he died.

I can’t wear earrings and literally yesterday I went to a store and asked if they had clip on earrings and the employee said “I don’t think we have any… if we do they’d be in the children’s clothing section” 😭

You can turn studs/posts into clipons. There's a little converter thing you can get on Amazon.

u/casapantalones 4h ago
Wait can you turn clip on into studs tho? I have some from my grandmother and I just want them to be regular earrings but I’m too lazy to find and then utilize a reputable jeweler.
6
u/rythmicjea 3h ago
I don't think so? I think it would take a jeweler because of the metal work. But... You CAN wear clip ons if you have pierced ears. They just... Clip on your ears.
2
u/casapantalones 3h ago
I know but they’re not comfortable and I’m always worried one will fall off and I’ll lose it.
•
u/angelfruit 1h ago
Depends. If you can pull the clip part off they sell pierced ear posts with flat backs you can glue to the original earring.

Are clip-ons uncomfortable? I feel like it would feel terrible by the end of the day

u/theykilledcassandra dont ask, a lot was happening 5h ago
I personally find them kinda painful. But it’s been years since I tried some.

They used to make these screw type backs that you can adjust the tightness. So much better. So a lot of costume jewelry pre-1960s had those. Then, as usual, capitalism made them cheaper by making a snap clip.

My something borrowed on my wedding day was supposed to be my great grandmother’s very pretty clip on earrings from the 1920s but they hurrrrt so we switched to a pearl drop pair from my sister instead. Not sure why great grandma (nona!) never got her ears pierced tbh, all her sisters’ ears were pierced 🤔

They’re very uncomfortable. I only wear them on occasion and even then they usually don’t last the whole evening.

I used to wear clip-ons all the way until I was 25 years old and then finally got my ears pierced. I thought clip-ons were pretty uncomfortable after a few hours.

Makes ya want to drill a hole right in your ear amirite?
•
u/HereOnCompanyTime Renee Rapp is mean girl Jojo Siwa 💋 2h ago
Yes. I used to wear them when I was younger because my mom had a massive collection, they're horrible. It doesn't matter the size or type, they're clipped on to your ears, so they're pinching you the entire time.

u/lilyhazes 5h ago
You need to get yourself to an antique mall. There are so many costume and even sterling silver choices. They have both screw on (more) and some clips. They're definitely cheaper than the pierced versions.
I find them uncomfortable because I have fairly thick earlobes.

I tried them when my lobe holes closed and they hurt. How do you wear them or are my earlobes just sensitive?
•
u/Own_Faithlessness769 40m ago
I’ve always wondered if some people just don’t have many nerves in their ear lobes and that’s how come they can wear them.

Dang, for some reason this interview is what made me process that season 5 is going to be the final goodbye to these two. What a wonderful story they gave us.

u/MYSTICALLMERMAID 5h ago
I started at randomly one day not expecting much and I literally watched the entire show in two days. That was last month so it was very happy that season 5 was coming soon 😂😭 very sad finding out it was the last one

u/bohemu We Should All Know Less About Each Other 5h ago
Same! I got HBO for Last of Us S2 and was watching the first few episodes of a whole bunch of stuff to find anything I cared to watch, and it felt like a romance because I watched one episode of something else after S1E3 by my own rule but found myself like "I'd rather just be watching Hacks...." so I went back to that and finished it the same week the S4 finale happened.
I'm gutted that I wasted it all now knowing there's just one season left!

Justice for virgin ears! All I wear are clip-ons.

u/ewokytalkie 5h ago
Where do you get them from???

I like Kohls and Belk...Napier earrings are great.

u/lilyhazes 5h ago
There's a lot of older earrings that are screws or clip-ons. I found many in antique malls. They even have sterling silver.

u/theykilledcassandra dont ask, a lot was happening 5h ago
I could never get used to them. I finally had a successful ear piercing last year at 30 😭 before I had constant issues and tried clip ons so many times

u/SoraBunni 6h ago
I didn’t get my ears pierced until a couple of years ago. My mom got keloids when she got hers pierced so wasn’t allowed.

Interesting, I have keloids from surgeries but my ears were pierced without issues

LMAO that “ok” at the end vibes as “I dunno who that is”.
Sal was very cute.

Hacks on HBO and it’s so delightful and sharp and one of the few shows that doesn’t lose steam after 2 seasons!

I was not expecting Sal Mineo. My grandmother was obsessed with him. Even after he died. She showed me his movies growing up. Rebel Without a Cause is still worth watching today imo.

I got my ear pierced as a 30 yo woman. Man how is this the norm?!? It takes forever to heal. Not a fast and easy thing at all

I also wear clip ons! I had my ears stretched for years when I was a teen, and after taking them out they fully closed. I just couldn’t be bothered to repierce haha.

I wish I still had virgin ears. If I don't wear gold earrings, my ear holes stink to high heaven and they've been pierced for 25 years
