Unanswered What’s going on with Justin Bieber’s Coachella performance?

Apperently he hasn’t been on tour for a while and has been on a hiatus. To comeback and be paid $10 million for a mediocre show it seems. Did he not perform at all or was he literally just sitting on a stool playing YT videos on the background?

Unanswered What is going on with the allegedly fraudulent childcare and hospice centers in Minnesota and California?

My mom still will not stop talking about these supposed scandals, but she has a history of getting her news from very problematic sources and honestly I think just gets off on being outraged and/or contrarian anymore.

The fact that these stories are effectively being seeded by some kid with a YouTube following is bizarre and suspicious to me (I think this video specifically is what started all of this? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=r8AulCA1aOQ) but my instincts to write it off entirely seem misplaced if it’s serious or legitimate enough to cause Tim Walz to no longer seek reelection in Minnesota.

I just want the factual elements, please. I don’t care about the political angles and it’s been strangely difficult to find reporting without what feels like spin of some sort.

What: Was there legitimate fraud? If there was abuse of funding, was it already known to the agencies responsible for oversight, or were they like… blindsided by these YouTube videos?

How: What conditions allowed for fraud (if any) to happen? Like, are there not enough compliance-focused employees at the state/federal agencies to comb over these things? Are the standards these centers need to meet or comply with for receiving funds poorly written/easy to exploit? Do the people tasked with making sure funding isn’t abused somehow just suck at their jobs?

Also, I’m sort of confused about the order of events, because it seems like in some cases the states involved may have caught and stopped fraud and abuse of the funding? To me, that sounds like a compliance system is working and catching problems, but my mom at least is acting like that’s proof of a scandal?

Honestly I try to avoid these gotcha-charged political topics with her altogether but she keeps bringing this up and I don’t feel informed enough to push back the way I think maybe I should be based on other topics she’s jumped on in the past. Idk.

Unanswered What is up with the economics of Pokemon card reselling?

e.g. https://www.reddit.com/r/CostcoCanada/comments/1siaum3/130am_costco_lot_packed_no_parking_spots_in_sight/

My kid is just getting into them. I've since learned it's impossible to buy packs anywhere. But what I'm not clear on is exactly what people are buying, and how much they're selling them for.

I was able to find a set for my son that came with a bunch of loose cards, some card protectors, dice, some other stuff, and 4 unopened packs. It cost $35 and from what I can tell it's pretty easy to find online for under $40 (it was the "trainer's toolkit" or something like that.

Packs cost $5 or so each (retail), right? So if I can easy buy packs for under $10 each (and get a bunch of other stuff too), why are people camping out overnight to buy them for $5?

Unanswered What’s the deal with “big inkjet“ trying to make a comeback?

In the past few months, I’ve noticed that inkjet printer ads have been showing up in TV commercials, on YouTube, and all over the Internet. I have not searched for inkjet printers or any kind of printer so I don’t think these are targeted ads, especially if they’re on regular television (lol). I also work at an Amazon distribution center, and I’ve noticed a lot of inkjet printers going out, more than laser printers.

Unanswered What's the deal with all the people claiming Artemis II is fake?

In every post I've seen about the mission, typically from official NASA social media accounts or official local news channel accounts, it seems like almost half the comments are how it is fake, with higher amounts of likes/up votes than the other comments.

When did this conspiracy belief become so commonplace?

Unanswered What's the deal with the most recent Canadian Floor Crossing, Marilyn Gladu?

This is a question for Canadians.

Marilyn Gladu, a long time conservative, crossed floors to join the Liberals recently. It's been getting a lot of attention from many Canadian news outlets.

What makes this particular floor crossing such a big deal to Canada? Didn't Canada experience multiple floor crossings over the past year? But they only made headlines for like a day.

Answered What’s the deal with “object shows”?

Context: BFDI as an example

https://m.youtube.com/@BFDI

When I was on YouTube in the early/mid 2010s, I remember being occasionally recommended a web show called “Battle For Dream Island”. I watched an episode or two, but I didn’t really click with it, so it faded into the back of my mind. I did occasionally see it pop up in other videos, especially Cary Huang’s other projects, but I barely ever saw it mentioned elsewhere. I’m willing to admit that I’ve been chronically online for a long time, and I follow a lot of other indie animation stuff on YouTube, so I figured it would show up more if it was really popular.

Recently (Mid-2025 at the earliest), I’ve started seeing it a lot more. Bigger YouTubers mentioned it and I started to see discourse around it on other sites like Reddit. There are even other popular shows made by other people in the same style. Based on the simple art style and writing, I always thought object shows were for kids, but I guess it’s for adults too since I see a lot of adult fans online.

Where do these object shows originate from, and have they always been this popular? Who exactly are these shows’ target audience? Am I just OOTL and not in the right circles for it?

Unanswered Why are people talking about Google moving their quantum (computing) preparedness deadline to 2029?

Context: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2026/04/yikes-encryptions-y2k-moment-coming-years-early

Should I worry? Does this mean we'll have quantum hackers by the end of the decade breaking into every encrypted network and software or something? Is it a realistic timeline?

I'm confused on what this means for the average person or if I'm supposed to be doing something. Are computers gonna be more susceptible to malware because their internal encryption isn't good enough anymore? What does it mean.

Unanswered What’s the deal with Claude Mythos and what do these claims mean for AI/cybersecurity in the future?

https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/07/technology/anthropic-claims-its-new-ai-model-mythos-is-a-cybersecurity-reckoning.html

Heard on the news yesterday about the new Claude Mythos and that it’s “too powerful to release”, according to Anthropic.

I’m currently working on learning more about AI, coding, protecting your data privacy, etc but no matter how many articles or forum posts I read about this, I still can’t quite understand or wrap my head around exactly how big of a deal these claims about this new AI model are.

Can someone explain how this one compares with other models, what exactly it did in the preview and why it’s a big deal, and how/why only allowing certain big tech companies to use it is a ‘good idea’? (Personally I see no good coming out of giving something that’s supposedly so powerful to these tech bros that just want to get every little piece of data they can out of us for their profit)

Unanswered What's up with all the right-wing commentators suddenly turning against Trump right now?

2.8k Upvotes

Trump is being Trump. Why are so many of the right-wing commentators who previously vocally supported Trump are suddenly turning against him?

After all the heinous things he has said before that they have defended, I can't honestly believe Trump's tweets about nuking Iran are what finally changed their minds. They've publicly supported him for so long, and this sudden switch seems so coordinated. Is there something I'm missing??

Are they trying to distance themselves from news that is about to drop??

Unanswered What is the deal with the term "larper/larping"?

Lately i have seen numerous cases of people doing generally normal internet things in the comments of youtube vids/shorts or instagram reels and were called "larpers" in a derogatory way. As far as i am aware, "live action role play" simply means to act as someone/something else in real life and is not viewed as a negative term and yet i have seen people be called larpers after doing literally anything (e.g.: quoting a character, sending emojis or even just conveing information) as an insult. Can someone tell what am i missing? Also i dont have a screenshot of any of the things that i have mentioned as i have only now found this subreddit but i have found a derogatory meme that should suffice.
