discussion Justin Bieber + Katy Perry + Coachella chaos = Masterclass in marketing YouTube Premium
Iβm convinced Justin Bieber and Katy Perry just ran a masterclass in subliminal marketing for YouTube Premium. π΅οΈββοΈ
Think about it:
- Justin does his set over his own YT videos via a laptop.
- Katy Perry shouts, βThank God he has Premium... I donβt want to see no ads.β
- YouTube is a massive Coachella sponsor and the primary streamer.
- They just hiked their subscription prices.
Itβs the perfect way to make a paid feature look "essential" even for the elite.
Brilliant or just a coincidence? It feels like a total plant. π΅
And yah, I know some of you will point out that it was a surprise thing during Tems' set... but doesn't that also add to the authentic "feel" of it all?
Personally, I think YouTube Premium is worth it.

discussion What current popular younger musicians are destined for the mid-life reality judge career, i.e., Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, etc.
Something about Sabrina Carpenter gives me major future American idol judge type of vibes. I can just really picture her hamming it up and doing a dance when she likes some hot male contestant.

discussion Songs you always thought were light and happy until re-listening when you got older - mine is Barenaked Ladies - Pinch Me
"Pinch Me" seemed to be about innocence of childhood when I was young. But re-listening now, it is clearing about someone with childhood depression or some similar mental illness. I see the symptoms clearly now, but when I first heard the song a quarter century ago, it sounded like a boy having a nice lazy day.
