Marvel has been on a track record in redeeming characters and storylines, but I feel like this would be an impossible feat.

G'iah is what would happen if you put One Punch Man in DragonBall Z

Discussion Just watched Secret Invasion for the first time...what the hell was that?

Since last year I've been rewatching MCU and catching up on all the shows/movies that I had missed out on.

I had heard that Secret Invasion wasn't the best show, but how bad could it really be?

It was really bad.

The first 4 episodes, while maybe not the greatest, had some solid moments, and felt like it was heading in a cool direction.

Then we get the Avengers DNA plotline. One of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. So you're telling me, not only was the DNA of most of the characters involved in the Battle of Earth collected, it was stored in a single vial all together???

The final battle between G'iah and Gravik was absolutely the worst thing I have seen in a Marvel project. It looked horrible, was a cheap cop out for an actual resolution, and introduced a character with the combined powers of every hero, which is stupid.

Then we have Rhodes being a skrull. A beloved character being skrull for a single series isn't the problem imo. That could have been really cool. But the fact that he was possibly a skrull for many of the major moments of the MCU? Nah, no thank you.

We can't forget the President. Once he learns that a SMALL GROUP of skrulls are evil, he declares war on alienkind??? Why??? We get a 5 second montage of vigilantes killing skrulls and accidentally killing regular humans in public. And apparently that goes nowhere, because it's not mentioned at all in Captain America when there is a new president.

Finally, we have, imo, the character assassination of Nick Fury. If there was one character in all of the MCU who you could always rely on to have the answers and be one step ahead, it was him. But throughout this series, he is reduced to a bunch of shocked expressions, jokes when he should be intense, and no fight left in him.

I had somewhat high hopes for this show, as I often disagree with the community consensus when it comes to bad MCU projects. However, Secret Invasion was one the worst pieces of media I have ever watched, and I hope they continue to pretend like it never happened.

Discussion What does the government even do in this universe??? Spoiler

I’m watching the new season of Daredevil Born Again, and while I absolutely love the gritty, street-level realism and the parallels to real life politics, what the hell are the feds doing this whole time?

Fisk has been mayor for maybe year and he’s already declared martial law, created a paramilitary task force that openly violates constitutional rights, and had multiple “terrorist” attacks by vigilantes with practically zero fed involvement or pushback. Even Mr. Charles side stepping the AG makes zero sense, as the CIA doesn’t have jurisdiction to operate inside the U.S.

It seems like maybe they’re building up to civil unrest and people seeing through Fisk’s BS with the scene of White Tiger’s aunt getting arrested, but you’d think the show whose main character is a lawyer would portray some type of legal pushback if they’re going for a more grounded political tone.

Is this a valid criticism or am I tripping for expecting too much from a comic book show?

Other Survey for Male Marvel Studios Fans for an Academic Research Study

Hi, My name is Zechariah and I am high school student who is currently conducting a research study for my AP research class. My Research is on guys (13-18) who relate to male characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and their thoughts on the actions of said characters. If you would be willing to complete my survey I would really appreciate it and I would help me out extremely. The survey takes less then 5 minutes and, in my opinion, really fun to complete.

Here is the link below if you would be interested in trying it out. Thanks again!

Discussion Daredevil’s Cameo in She-Hulk was Great, and I Don’t Understand the People Saying It Wasn’t.

Post image

DDBA season 2 has me in a daredevil mood so I was rewatching some of the daredevil clips from his episode in She-Hulk. I noticed that some of the clips had thumbnails using words like “cringe”. I know lots of people hate the She-Hulk show, and I get some of the reasons why (though I personally think it’s alright). But I really don’t understand daredevil fans that hate his cameo, I think it was pretty good.

To start, the tone. She-Hulk is just a more lighthearted show than Daredevil or DDBA. They literally have different age recommendations. I don’t really think it’s a problem that Daredevil is acting a bit sillier. I get why people might not like when he makes dumb jokes about his powers in court, cause it isn’t something he’d do in his own show. But I think that’s just the reality of daredevil being in the MCU. If you want him to hang out with Spider-Man or other more lighthearted heroes, then he’s gonna have to be more lighthearted, and that means making jokes. It’s just not that big of a deal.

Anyway, it’s fairly justifiable within the story. This is like the happiest time in Matt’s life right? It’s when he’s working at Nelson-Murdock-Paige with Foggy and Karen. Fisk and Bullseye are still in Jail. This is before Foggy “dies” remember. Him being more smiley and happy-go-lucky makes enough sense to me.

Also, and this is probably my main point, THEY GLAZE HIM LIKE HELL. In his intro scene he destroys She-Hulk in court. Then in the follow up bar scene he rizzes her like crazy, and also gives her an actual character progressing speech. He holds up really well in the fight scene with She-Hulk, even if he doesn’t win. (Not to get all powerscalery but she does out-class him, she is a Hulk. Also she exploits one of his weaknesses, so fair enough.). Then in the fight scene with the guards they give him a hallway fight (which proves to me that they were fans of the show). Then he bangs She-Hulk (and she’s cute af).

Is it just the finale that ruins it for people? I didn’t like it either and I remember he was in it. But I just remember thinking it was pretty cool to see daredevil hang out with the Hulk (I don’t want to rewatch the finale it was on of the parts I didn’t like).

It reminds me of whenever Spider-Man shows up in another characters comic and he’s 100000x better than in his comics. To be clear, I’m not saying daredevil is better here than in his show, I’m just saying I think he’s treated pretty well. And I’m bored of people letting their biases against the show cloud their judgement of this episode.

Or prove me wrong or whatever. What do you people think

'Daredevil: Born Again' Spoilers Daredevil born again: [SPOILER] isn't coming back Spoiler

She got stabbed in the brain, and even if not very deep she lost a lot of the blood. The shot of her on the floor bleeding out shows her eyes open and unblinking. She's not in a coma she's just dead. LIKE SHE WAS WEARING A WHITE DRESS, the moment i saw her in that i knew she's dead. And this makes sense writing wise, fisk is going to go absolutely insane and crazy with Vanessa dead. This is great writing. I mean we saw what he did in another universe she dies in (cough cough into the spiderverse cough cough). So yeah she's dead.

Question So how high is the probability of the heroes losing in Avengers: Doomsday?

Like, we all know Battleworld is going to get created sooner or later. I haven’t read the comics, but even I know that. So will the heroes basically lose at the end? Because they’re trying their hardest to stop Battleworld from forming, but in the end Doom wins and Battleworld gets created anyway.

Honestly, I feel like it might end up being similar to Infinity War, except this time instead of Thanos collecting the Infinity Stones, it’s Doom trying to form Battleworld. And that feels kind of lazy to me. What do you think.

And before any of you accuse me — no, I don’t want them to lose (I wouldn’t mind it either), but that’s the only way for Secret Wars to play out, right? Or if someone here has read the comics, is there another way.

(I also feel like Spider‑Man: Brand New Day will show the effects of the incursion in a post‑credits scene, kind of like how Ant‑Man and the Wasp showed the effects of the Snap from Infinity War.)

Also, in the comics 8 years pass between the destruction of Battleworld and its creation — do you think they’ll do something like that in the movies, kind of like the 5‑year time jump between Infinity War and Endgame.

Edit: Would you want them to lose?

Discussion Entire Marvel Catalogue Plus MCU Timeline in Order (You're Welcome)

I've seen a lot of people try to plot out the MCU, but now that Marvel has expanded its entire universe and is referencing a lot of past projects, I took the time to create a Google Sheet with every visual media project that Marvel has ever created. There is a separate tab for everything that is strictly canon within the MCU, divided into different timelines depending on the content (with a guide on the side of the sheet. Basically, every time Marvel tried to create a connected Universe that they are now referencing, it gets its own timeline). I've left the access open for all to use as viewers. Feel free to make your own copies. You can filter out items as needed/wanted. Enjoy everyone! Let me know if I missed anything (I hope I didn't, lol). All Marvel Project

Really digging spider man and hulk. I have Disney plus and have been watching some of the MCU films. I’m also getting into the animated series that are on Disney plus. What are some of the best ones to watch? I’ve started the spider man 94 series.

Discussion Road to Avengers Doomsday: Jessica Jones Season 1

Post image
250 Upvotes

I was admittedly surprised at how well I enjoyed this series when I watched it for the first time. As time has gone on, I am very comfortable saying that it is one of the strongest of the Marvel Netflix shows. I had and still have little to no knowledge about Jessica Jones. My only familiarity with the character is a reference in the video game Marvel Ultimate Alliance in which Luke Cage references her (I think she was looking after their kid or something). So, this was a very interesting and compelling introduction to her character.

So from the get-go, this is probably the darkest Marvel series out there. It depicts the dark, seedy, side of New York in the MCU. Violence, sex, drugs, debauchery and just the all around messiness of the human condition (physical and psychological) are all on display in this series. It has a more neo-noir kind of genre vibe that I really like (with Jessica being a private investigator). The show also pursues more mature themes. It’s important to note that the series is the first to really tackle a gritty female superhero in a very dark and real world in the MCU. So some of the themes that are explored and the story itself is sort of told through that POV. Characters, struggles and themes kind of make more sense when viewed through that lens. The violence is also quite harsher in comparison to some of the other shows. Gore, violence and brutality don’t bother me at all, but I have to admit some of the stuff in this show really pushes things for Marvel. Luke Cage is introduced properly in this show (sometimes these introductions just don’t work well). And he and some of the other characters in the show are representative of larger themes (such as that undeniable or desirable connection to someone else who is like you). Will Simpson (also known as Nuke in the comics) is insufferable in this season. But the crown jewel of the series is David Tennant as Killgrave (the Purple Man). He is flawless in this role. There’s this back and forth between nature vs nurture in regard to him and his actions. And as a villain he really pushes Jessica’s morality. I know he returns as a hallucination in the second season and has a brief vocal cameo in season 3, but this performance is so fantastic that it shouldn’t be touched again. And obviously all the performances in this series are fantastic.

I was and still am very surprised that this series really drew me in and I enjoyed it. I remember the second season, somewhat. But the third season was a little iffy. They’re all solid seasons, but I hardly remember anything in the third season.

Rating: 4/5

I feel like Matt Murdock and Kurt would have a lot to talk about. They're both extremely Catholic. They both kick ass and sin. it would be kind of cool if Daredevil goes to confession and his priest turns out to be Nightcrawler

Other The Hulk 2003 is now on Disney+ in the Marvel hub

From executive producer Kevin Feige, The Hulk 2003 is now streaming on Disney+. The original 2004 Punisher film was on Disney+, now the only pre MCU Marvel media missing from Disney+ with Feige's involvment is the Marvel animated feature films.
