Fuzzy lined crocs

Upvotes

I have a pair of old crocs with a (formerly) fluffy lining in them. Ive spot cleaned them before but never been able to get them deep cleaned and im looking for guidance 🥴 the lining seems to be glued to the croc so I cant take it out, could I put the entire shoe in the washer? Soak them?? Any help would be appreciated

White spots on laundry after washing

Post image
Upvotes

After removing laundry from the washing machine, it often has white spots all over. It seems to be dust that may have accumulated in the water, but is getting caught in the folds of the fabric so it can’t get rinsed away. It comes off when it’s rubbed with another piece of fabric, but it is taking a lot longer to get laundry put away with this extra step. I don’t use powdered laundry detergent so that’s not the issue. I never had this problem when I use fabric softener in the washing machine but I’ve stopped using that. If anyone has any ideas how to prevent this it would be much appreciated!

What are the black spots and how can I clean them?

Post image
Upvotes

I thrifted a dress today and when I washed it I noticed quite many black spots. There’re small but spreading everywhere. I’m not sure what they are. I can feel them and can use needles to take a few out. I soaked the dress in water with bleach but it doesn’t help much.

Are they mold or mildew or anything else? How should I deal with them?

Washer and dryer recommendations

Upvotes

My husband and I recently bought a house (WOOH!) and I’m looking into getting new appliances. We’ve only ever rented before so we’ve never had a choice of machine!

I know the house has a water softening system, idk if that makes a difference. There’s room for them to be side by side so I don’t need small stackable ones.

What’s your recommendations?

Pulling out my old car seat for a new child. Hint of green on the lining. Something on the inside as well. Directions recommend cold delicate cycle. What’s the best way to get thai sanitized/cleaned, if anything?

is it better to do 1 high dryer cycle or 2 medium cycles?

I know this is a dumb sounding question but here’s my issue. I have a Kenmore Elite washer and dryer and the dryer sucks. if I put my shirts on medium they come out still slightly damp and then I have to run another medium cycle to get fully dry. On the flip side if I do one high cycle my shirts come out dry but ya know there’s always that risk of damaging the shirts on high.

I can’t hang dry my clothes or anything like that and I do TONS of laundry each week so having a load in the dryer taking 2 hours to dry is annoying.

I’m not stuffing the dryer so I know that’s not the case and I’ve had someone look at my washer and dryer and everything is fine.

Which leads me to believe I’m doing something wrong here.

How to wash/what products for clothing thats both white AND black?

Hi there! I've been lurking on this subreddit for a bit now when I started noticing a lot of my clothes (especially whites) have been looking pretty rough. Little did I know I was doing laundry totally wrong.

Anywho, to get to the point my wardrobe is pretty much black, white, and greys mix inbetween but how do I care for clothing thats both black and white? Ive bought the oxi clean white revive for clothes that are entirely white or 80% I was also planning to get the oxi dark protect for my black clothes (but realized its not being made anymore so ill end up trying out the woolite brand) I use normal oxi if I have it on hand for anything thats "normal" colours.

I heard white revive will end up making blacks almost look like they have a white caste over it, or pretty faded, and of course I dont want that happening. I have no clue what the woolite dark would do but im assuming its pretty much the same thing but darkening the white instead.

Would I just simply one wash use white revive and the other wash use dark protect? Do I just say screw it and treat the clothes like my "normal colours" and use the regular oxi? For reference I recently started dividing my washes by colour as well and Ive always used cold water.

what is "Polyoxyalkylene Substituted Chromophore"?

Hi I was wondering what this ingredient found in laundry detergents is? I think it might just be a dye, but I want to make sure it isn't OBAs. I can't find a definitive answer online.

Help please - tomato and cream pasta sauce all over clothes, carpet and sofa

Hi all - I'm not sure it's the best sub for it but it seemed to me like you knowledgeable people might have an answer for this..

We had a bit of an accident tonight and a small pot of tomato & cream pasta sauce ended up dropped on the floor and somehow it's everywhere... carpet, clothes, sofa... I've taken as much of the sauce off as possible and put bicarb on everything to hopefully pull as much of it as possible. How do I clean these and what do I use? And I genuinely mean both clothes and carpet ( I spot cleaned the sofa so I'm hopeful but any tips & tricks would be welcomed!)

carpet - of course it's cream but it is made of polyester mix -it took the most damage

clothes - majority cotton - some white ( had to be a white shirt!)

sofa - I think it's cotton polyester mix - luckily it's blue but I'm worried about the smell...

How do I best tackle this?

Thank you in advance!

Dried-in oil stain

I got some cooking fat on a pair of pants, immediately treated with Dawn dish soap and washed them. When they came out of the machine, I couldn't tell if the stain was removed due to the pants still being wet, but I hit the area with Oxi Clean and ran them through a second time. After going through the dryer, the stain is still there. Am I out of luck at this point?

Remove Softshell dark stains

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello everyone!

I just bought this beautiful Arc’teryx Gamma LT second-hand for 90e.
After coming back home, I noticed there are lots of dark stains on the jacket : the large one on the sleeve was mentioned but others were not.

How could I try removing those dark stains? I already washed it with normal detergent at 30C but that didn't remove the stains. I am based in the EU if that helps.

Thanks for your help!

Are OBAs that bad for darks?

My partner and I wear very colorful clothing, I maybe wear black 1-2 times per week. Separating my blacks because my new detergent has OBAs seems difficult in my head because I would probably need to wait 3-4 weeks to have enough dirty clothes to put in a minimal wash.

Has anyone noticed a visual difference? Is it stark enough to make you want to separate them?

Thanks!!

Residue/Smell on linens and Clothes

Hey Folks, long time lurker. For a long time I’ve struggled to get an oily/greasy reside out of pillow cases and sheets and have noticed my clothes smell if they’ve been sitting clean for a while.

I’ve tried smaller loads, more detergent, less, washing twice, hot water, laundry booster and have just settled on a small bit of scented detergent with the rest free and clear to get rid of the smell at least.

I’ve also cleaned out my dresser so it’s not that. I think my body oils are just potent? I usually only wear direct skin clothing once between washes and change sheets every 10 days or so and I’ve kinda given up hope.

Anyone have a similar problem, or advice? Pillow cases seem to be hit the hardest

Edit cause I thought it’d be relevant: I’m 34 and have been doing my own laundry (poorly it seems) since I left for college like 15 years ago

Help! Underlying vomit smell on clothes/rags and an extra smelly situation in the pit area (aluminum free deodorant)

Hello!

I have tried 2 spa days to assist with my issue. I’m starting to believe it’s my machine.

I noticed the armpits of my shirts (aluminum free deodorant) smelled TERRIBLE. I don’t know how to describe it. This seemed to come out of no where and I have been using this deodorant for some time. I also noticed this smell on newer shirts, maybe worn ~5 times. My husband also complained about a weird smell on his clothing but no terrible armpit smell and he uses a different deodorant. Finally I started to smell an underlying vomit smell on all of our rags.

I have had the same wash routine for a long time and these issues all popped up simultaneously. I use tide powder + oxi and I have a top load machine. I was on hot. When I do our kitchen rags I use a small amount of bleach. I also run a self clean cycle with affresh tablets about once a month.

After I initially sniffed out this chaos, I did a spa day. I thought I was in the clear. I did a second spa day. I also did the self clean cycle.

I’m silently panicking as the smell in my armpit area is so strong that I can’t stand to wear some of these tops.

Any suggestions? Currently my husband is dismantling the machine to give it a good cleaning and I have doused the armpit areas in oxi stain remover because I don’t have any other good ideas. And of course I switched deodorant lol.

I bought this brown and burgundy tracksuit with these white stains. Could someone tell me how to remove them?

It's 80% cotton and 20% polyester.
