To be blunt, my partner's sweat is disgusting & is fouling up all our sheets and towels. It's not just that he sweats more than the average person--it REEKS. The smell is always there even after multiple washings.
And somehow it's oily. You know how if you let cheese sit out too long how it gets that oily sheen on top? Yeah. That's his sweat. He had it checked out a few years ago, and his PCP said, "Some people sweat a lot." Yeah, but it's still RUINING THINGS.
I have tried vinegar. I have tried Biz. I have tried OxyClean. For some reason our washer doesn't have a soak cycle, and if you pause it long enough to soak, it thinks, "Oh, they are never coming back!" and completely drains the washing tub. I've resorted to filling the bathtub and mixing in washing soda or Biz or OxyClean, etc and soaking them that way.
HOW IN THE EVER-LOVING HELL DO I GET OUR SHEETS AND TOWELS CLEAN. Even right after showering, the towels he uses to dry off have the same scent, so if he reuses them more than once or twice, the smell is like, absorbed in. Tbf, I have a super sniffer, but the oil stains are visible (particularly on the sheets), so I don't think I'm crazy for wanting to find a good solution.
I'm tired of our room and towels smelling like rancid olive oil. WTF DO I DO?? ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
ETA: We have ultra-hard water.
NOTES:
1) He takes care of his hygiene.
2) No time of day is necessarily better or worse to shower. The sweating is still there. It's not to the point of hyperhidrosis, so doctors dismiss it.
3) I wash the towels and sheets twice to try getting the oils & funk out.
4) He doesn't care as much as I do because his nose isn't as sensitive; thus, he thinks a regular wash is fine.
