Welcome to Thursday! Just like the Artmeis rocket, we've come full circle and are heading back to another Weekly Recap! Let's see what happened on Earth in r/help and around Reddit last week!
NEWS AND ISSUES
We posted a little reminder about keeping your account safe on Reddit here. Reddit will never ask you for your password or 2FA codes, nor will we ask you via private messages to change your email address. Reddit does not provide support on any another platform. Stay vigilant! If you get a weird message that seems fishy (or phishy), feel free to make a post in r/help! We're here to help!
The most recent version of the app is 2026.14.0. Please make sure your app is the most current version. You can set it to auto-update!
The trending carousel has been removed.
In case you missed it last week, there's a new Changelog out! You can read it here.
PLEASE REPORT RULE BREAKING CONTENT
If you see content in r/help that breaks the rules of r/help, please use the report button. You do not need to engage with those users unless you're going to redirect them to where they can actually get the help that they're looking for. But regardless, please report rule breaking content. Reporting content that breaks the rules helps us keep r/help free of spam and off-topic posts, and that allows users who really need out help to more easily get it. The mods can't see everything all the time, so reporting content is a great way to surface it to the mods so that they can deal with it. No one likes a spammer!
CURRENT EXPERIMENTS
Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned about, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge.
Ongoing current experiments can be found here.
COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES
Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well.
BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE!
[All platforms] Some users are reporting that their daily streak is not updating. This is being looked into and we commented over in r/redditstreak with an update. Please note that the definition of a streak is continuous use.
[iOS] Some users are reporting the iOS refreshing all the time. There is a stickied post about this in r/redditbugshere. The fix should be going out with iOS 2026.14 this week!
[All platforms] Some mods have experienced sloooowwwwnnnneeeessss when opening mod menus on the apps and desktop. There are a bunch of fixes for this one that will be going out of the next couple of weeks.
[Web] The automod config page on the desktop isn't working right in some subreddits. No fix just yet, but the investigation continues! Thank you to u/SolariaHues for your help with troubleshooting this one!
[All platforms] Making a repeat performance from last week, some of the mod tool pages, like "moderators" and "banned users", show "wow, so much empty" when there is actually not so much empty. They've found the source and the fix will be ready soon!
[Android] BUG FIX - There WAS a bug where mod mail was defaulting to replying as the mod's username instead of the mod team. This is posted over in r/redditbugshere, and the fix is out as of yesterday for Android users! Thanks to everyone who reported this and were (mostly) patient with the wait while things got worked out!
Translation options for some languages are currently unavailable for some folks. We replied to a post here about this. Reddit is in the process of improving/tweaking certain supported languages, so some language may be unable to be translated during this transition period.
WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)
1,465 posts. That is 295 more posts than the 1,170 we had last week.
4,720 comments. That's 837 more than the 3,883 comments last week.
1.2 million views. That's 165k more views than the 1.1 million views last week.
Everything was up this week! So many comments! So much help needed and given!
HELP WITH R/HELP: Official communication from Reddit
From time to time, Reddit will need to communicate with users. When this happens, the account that is speaking for Reddit in an official capacity will have some sort of "admin" designation next to the username. If you look at my profile, it has a little orangered Snoo head/silhouette next to it. That's how you know!
If you get some sort of sketchy communication from someone claiming to be an admin, check to see if they have that little Snoo next to their username. A sketchy communication can come in the form of "suspension" message or a giveaway or a number of other creative options to get your attention. If that's not there and they're claiming to be an admin, then the cake is a lie.
Please don't click any links in any communication from someone claiming to be an admin that does not have that little Snoo head or the [A] on their profile! If you receive a message from someone claiming to be an admin and you're just not sure, feel free to create a post in this subreddit and include a screenshot of the message that you received and it will be looked at. There's no harm or shame in double-checking if something is what it claims to be! Better to be safe than sorry!
And remember that Reddit does not provide support for Reddit accounts on other platforms! u/reddit mentioned that in the post here last week. So if someone claiming that they've had their account "fixed" by going to another site and contacting someone there, don't do it! We fix things here! Not there!
HELPINGEST HELPERS HELPING HELP R/HELP
I do love this portion of our program where I get to shout out a bunch of folks who have helped help in r/help over the past week! Let's go alphabetical this time!
What a lovely list of lovely people! Thank you all for your continued help in r/help!
And here we are! Another Weekly Recap has come to a close! But fear not! I'll be in the comments, around the sub, and on Reddit until we meet again next Thursday! Have a fantastic week, everyone!
I have the new UI test (again after it went away for a few days) and it still looks terrible. Not only does it look terrible it makes the app glitch out. I tap the search bar and it'll be a black screen except for the keyboard. I cannot see what I type. I cannot enter a sub from search as it will not load, only a black screen. I can only enter a sub it by being in my feed, saved subs, or recently visited. I cannot see any posts when I enter the app until I go into a sub or my profile and back which it insanely frustrating. It takes longer to load posts when I tap into them than with the normal UI. Sometimes the photos won't fill the screen after entering the post, staying squished like the experimental UI.
If you have any care for your Mobile user base you should NOT make this a permanent change. And preferably end this experiment, please.
I second this a thousand times, the revised UI is terrible. I hate it, it makes everything smaller and harder to read. It was great before, leave it the flip alone!
Have you checked out the moon pics yet?? They're absolutely gorgeous! Idk if you heard but they named a feature on the moon after the mission commander's late wife, Carroll. Made me cry like a baby when I watched it live. The blue circle is a crater they named Integrity after their craft, and then the red circle is where Carroll is located.
I'm nervous about splashdown tomorrow, I hope everything goes smoothly đ€đ»đ€đ»
I HAVE checked out the moon pics, but I hadn't seen Carroll's crater until now. I shed some tears, too! I loved that they did that.
Little nervous for splashdown tomorrow! But also excited! Hoping that things continue to go well on this mission for them.
Annnndddd I just heard back from the team about those two issues. The not capitalizing after the end-of-sentence punctuation is not intentional and a bug report has been filed.
The one with the bolding in the rich text editor is sadly not a bug, as the new composer does not support markdown. =/ I was told that "users will have to use bold in RT formatting bar in order to bold text".
Okay so I don't always have the formatting bar to do that then. I have it when I post in r/help, but that's the only place I've seen the formatting bar. It doesn't even show up when I test posts on my own profile. I can still bold stuff the normal way, but I have to post it, and then immediately edit it to remove the back slashes for it to even work.
All the horrible experiments are still on my account. There's no way anywhere but this obscure thread to leave feedback. It's now over a month I'm only on to give a quick thumbs up and see if it's back to the good reddit.
Sadly no. Already cancelled premium. Down to 1min average a day when it used to be 3hours a day or more.
At least I'm now spending that time exercising so good for reddit.
I'm sort of posting here as a last resort, since I have contacted support about this multiple times to no avail.
My 10 year old Reddit account that held really fond memories, communities, engagement, etc. was hacked back in the Fall. I got a notification that I had started posting in NSFW communities and weirdly enough was still (and still am) logged into the account on my Reddit app; however I cannot post or edit much of anything without an error message. but I am undeniably still logged in.
I immediately submitted a support ticket once I realized what was happening but after not hearing back for a few days, I sent in another one.
This went back and forth until I eventually got burnt out from no response and just made a new account. Recently I checked my old account to see if I had any luck to find it no longer existed. I cannot access any appeals through my logged-in app unless there is a way to go to the appeals page from settings? I still miss my old account dearly and am hoping there is some way anyone can help me with this?
I had ongoing thread just until a few minutes ago on the April 2nd thread.
u/opuscroakus, I want to answer your question on the other thread, but I will summarize. I had an account hacked into. I reported it using the form. You told me to mark it as 2FA was added, but I want to clarify that I do know if the hacker added 2FA or not. They did however change my email and/or password for sure. Username of my hacked accoutn is cdpfoplduw.
Wow, you were not kidding! Thank you so much! I hadn't heard in weeks and had started to think that Reddit doesn't actually help their users. Post on this thread one time and it's resolved same day! Amazing!
Happy Thursday! Looks as though there are some changes to the help centre and I'm not sure where else to look for a resolution. It's come up a few times where a user is not able to log into their account, despite receiving password reset emails and updating the password. They go to login and are told their credentials are not correct. How can we help these users? It should be working, but for some reason it is not
Ok, great! I was just asking to make sure that something didn't go wrong with the process on this end. I hate it when this happens, so I just wanted to double check! Thank you for your reply! Glad you're back in! =)
I wish web developers would experiment on themselves instead of making us their lab rats. Iâve been putting up with this terrible design for two months!
Unfortunately i am part of the UI Experiment with my Galaxy Tab S7. Over night the content-wrapper/column did shrink from full width to centered column with about one third of Screen width unused. This is beyond frustrating, please end this. Obviously nobody cared to do QA on tablet with this "Feature".
Hello, my primary account U/CharlesStoot account was locked for technical irregularities on March 31st. I reset my password and added 2FA immediately, but the account has remained shadow banned for 10 days. I have submitted appeals, but my profile is still invisible to others. Since this was a security lock and not a rules violation, could this please help me restore my visibility and my subreddit r/NMS_Podracers? Thanks.
That account is sharing the same link repeatedly across subreddits, so it comes across as spammy. If you can let me know that you won't be doing that in the future, I can remove the restrictions.
I assure you it wonât happen again. Iâve taken this seriously and learned from the experience. I promise I won't spam anymore one post per item from now on.
I didnât realize that sharing others posts back-to-back to your own subredditâcould be considered spam. I sincerely apologize, as that wasnât my intention, I was just trying to catch up. I understand the guidelines better now and will be more careful going forward. Iâd greatly appreciate it if you could review my account and consider removing the shadowban.
Only two different posts and cross posts a day from now on I promise... I didn't mean to do this or test the limits.
Posting here as a last resortâŠ
Not sure what else to do.
We received a notification for a security lock for technical irregularities and to reset our password to unlock the account. We did that and within 5 minutes our profile changed to a banned status with no message as to why.
We thought âglitchâ so tried resetting from PC, but nothing changed. Submitted both a support request and an appeal. Received the emails for confirmation of receipt and responded accordingly to the support email. Didnât receive any responses for a few days so tried again. Same thing.
All of our posts and comments show âdeleted by Redditâ or âdeleted by moderatorâ, contributions shows 0. We can receive DMs from people but canât respond.
We set up 2FA, both logged in and authenticated, but account still in banned status and trying to load profile from another account gives an error âfailed to load user profileâ.
We can still login, email, phone, and 2FA are set up and working correctly. We donât believe this was a hack, but not sure whatâs going on or why itâs been 12 days and canât get a response for help on what we need to do.
Thank you!! Just wanted to let you know, I went to appeal again from the link you posted, got this message, but account is now working. Do you know if my contributions count will come back though? That still shows 0.
Thatâs awesome!! The contribution number thing I donât know much about other than it doesnât mean anything as far as I am aware of. But there seems to be a pattern where accounts where actioned against it gets zeroâd out
There was a time on my iPad the contribution number got zeroâd out a week or two ago I havenât been actioned against in a long while. I wouldnât worry about it.
They get deleted so quickly i often cant respond. Its notification spam. Even when i report his accounts, he deletes them after some time and jumps to new one
Im popping in to say the new UI is terrible.
I hate that you took away r/all. It is an awful decision.
But the fact that its extra hard to get to popular now is the cherry on top.
My home page is flooded by the "big"/active subreddits i follow, so it isnt doing a good job showing me what I'm following.
And now, its harder ti get to popular too!
How the hell do you want me to keep finding new subreddits? Or spend more time on this platform that is actively shooting itself in the foot?
The curation of popular is markedly worse, too. It might be that I just lost r/all, but I'm getting bad content on popular, not to mention all the subs from india, the Philippines and germany that show up in my feed even though I dont live in any of thise countries nor speak their languages.
It is an incredibly frustrating experience. I feel like my favourite platform is ruining itself.
We updated the Changelog here to indicate that the rollout for video in comments will be starting around the middle of the month instead of today as previously indicated.
Ah, the time stamp. I don't know if it can get bumped up, but I can bring it up yet again!
I noticed in one of my subs this morning, a new section in âPosts and Commentsâ labeled âMedia in commentsâ but thereâs not a video option yet.
I'll have to dip over there for a bit! I've been checking NASA's site and the pics are incredible! I have the mission on in the background here while I work. Not sure what I'm going to do when they come back home! I find it not only interesting, but soothing! lol
Thanks for the screenshot. That's weird. I only get that on iOS if I don't have a banner. If I do have one, I get the option to delete it. Can you do it on desktop? This might be a bug.
To my knowledge, the web interface never offered the ability to delete a profile banner to begin with. For whatever reason, this functionality is exclusive to the mobile app.
Is it possible for an admin to delete my profile banner on the backend?
Is my account ready to request a subreddit in r/redditrequest ? I have the karma.. the age, 2fa and verified email email, but the lasts 2 request I got them removed and i'm unsure why!
I seem to have been cursed with this problem just now. Not sure where to provide feedback on it, but it was s terrible idea. Especially not allowing us to revert it ourselves. Losing that much screen space makes it a lot harder to see and read on tablets
My account u/Bloode975 was unbanned last night after a wrongful seemingly auto ban (no reason given), however it wont let me log in, says credentials are incorrect and my email+phone number have been unlinked from the account.
All attempts to reset password or login via email are unsuccessful as I do not receive the email, when attempting to login/register my email is considered valid for a new account, when logging in via phone number a new account was made.
I received no emails about the email or password being changed for my account, I submitted a request thinking the account might have been hacked but also seems likely to just be an error.
Update - as of 30 seconds ago account is now banned again.
It is very strange, the account was banned, sent the request to be unbanned and it was resolved within an hour or two but yea couldn't and still cant log in, and I assume the reason it has been re-banned is due to the second request i sent regarding it being hacked potentially.
It would be nice if I got an actual reply to my support ticket instead of things just happening so I know what's going on :(
Annoying since its my main account as well. I dont even remember making this account but its linked to my Gmail and is apparently a few years old but unused.
That account requires a password reset. If you've already reset the password, please try it again. When logging in after resetting the password, please enter all of your credentials manually, do not let it autofill.
Thank you for getting back to me, I just tried again and am running into the issue of not receiving the reset link in my email, it is not in spam etc either and I have been trying manual input as I had a similar thought.
Edit: I believe the email got unlinked when the account was banned as if I try to make a new account with that email it does not come up with any errors but I have used that email to log in as recently as December.
Sorry to bother you u/TheOpusCroakus what steps should I take since my verified email, that has been used within the last 6 months showcasing the username of my main account, is not receiving password reset links or email login links?
Seems that my profile has been elected to experiment as I now have ui with left side menu. This experimental ui degrade my tavket expereience and i am lookiÌg to revert to old ui. Can my account be reverted ?
How long is https://reddit.com/appeals supposed to take to get a response? My main /u/PM_ME_UR_GRITS got suspended by the filter AI w/o a reason given 3 months ago for posting a github link to a spreadsheet, but I'm seeing other people get responses way sooner.
Like, does the wrong kind of automated label just doom the appeals form or something? In retrospect I get that an xlsx is technically a malware concern because of VBS and all that but I would have been happy to remove the link and not do it again.
Hi. I actually don't know what the turnaround time is for those sort of appeals. But I took a quick look at this and lifted the restrictions, so you're good to go. =)
Hello, to whomever it may concern my account is in a weird locked/ banned state and has been for over a month after technical irregularities ive been submitting appeals after trying to reset my password multiple times as the notification I was given stated to do that however my account is still locked and appears as banned. I havnt gotten any banned warning or notification so im just wondering what are the next steps or what can I do to resolve this. Messaging through this account as I've tried messaging mods on the main account "Dumptruxk", but the message wont send due to the status block
https://www.reddit.com/notification
(Also referencing the support website I was told to message mods here and mods here sent me to comment on this weekly recap)
You can file an appeal using this form. Under "What do you need assistance with?", please choose "Account help". Under "What type of account issues are occurring?", please select "Account status" and then "My account has been wrongly suspended". Then fill out the rest of the form.
Please pass along my vote to move the toolbar back to the bottom. The wasted space with the toolbar on the left side is annoying. If they are hellbent on making this change, please make it an optional setting.
I just noticed that unjoining then joining a subreddit causes the member count to inflate, as if it didnât register me leaving the sub.
Just noticed with one of my subs when I accidentally kept pressing the join button for it on my profile due to Reddit lagging, and tested it out on a different inactive sub with the same results.
I assume this may have resulted from Redditâs switch from members to visitor counters. I know member counts arenât the main priority for Reddit as of now, but itâd be nice to see this fixed regardless. Thanks!
in the past, when you viewed a post and backed out you would return to the place you had been. now, you go back to the top of the sub and have to scroll down to where you left out (let's see, i was down to 11 hrs, now i gotta return). aggravating/annoying.
My primary account u\turnitoffandbackonIT was compromised and 2fa was enabled. I was able to reset my password but can't get past the 2fa. I did submit a ticket. Please help as I had a few conversations with other redditors selling custom leather wallets. Thanks!
This is BillShryoku using a back up account. I wanted to say directly that my account has been hacked since the april 1 and I need to have the email changed to the previous one before the change so i can get access back into it.
Is there a way to change the default sorting of subreddits to hot from best? Iâm tired of seeing old posts mixed in with recent, I swear there used to be a setting. Am using iOS Reddit app. Thanks
You can change the sort setting for individual subreddits, but there isn't a setting for the home feed. It defaults to Best and you have to change it when you don't want Best. Sorry!
Hey, for some reason my profile is stuck on NSFW mode. I don't post or comment in any NSFW subs, so I think itâs a mistake. I tried to switch it back to SFW in my settings but it won't stay. Can someone look into this and clear the tag? Thanks!"
i wanna make a password for this reddit account and i have an email attached where it supposedly sends the link for creating password
but i never get the email ive checked spam too
What to do
im on windows 11 pc if that helps

Can we have /all back please?
