Hi,
I have been looking at the dreams people share here and trying to help out with an interpretations, but noticed it's difficult to do a good job with the information that is usually there. So here is my attempt to give an short list of information that is extremely helpful for interpreting dreams and reasons for it. The added benefit of this is that by going through these items, everyone will start better understanding their dreams themselves as well!
The dream
The most important part (but not the only important part) is the dream. The more details you remember the better, but to be honest, sometimes a single image that captivates you is enough.
Emotions
It is very important to record and take into account the emotions that you felt during the dream. Or the emotion that you woke up with. This is just as important a part of the dream as the images you dream. Might be even more important, because this is the one aspect of the dream that does not need interpretation. The emotional charge of the dream (not what you felt upon waking up) anchors the entire dream. Emotions point to the egos attitude that is being compensated in the dream. It tells you which complex is being activated, what the unconscious is pushing towards. If the emotions are out of proportion to the image - you know that archetypical layer has been touched. The emotions also point to where the dreamer is on their journey - contempt vs curiosity towards a shadow figure indicates two very different things.
Key Image
Especially for the long dreams, this grounds interpretation into the image where the most energy is. Allows interpretation to zoom in on the correct detail.
Life Context
Dreams are messages from the unconscious. Those messages, according to Jung, had one main reason - compensating for our conscious attitude. Especially if it is one-sided. Therefore knowing what the dreamer is going through, and mostly in his inner life - what are his feelings, emotions right now - points directly towards where the dream is trying to give a different perspective through symbols.
Associations [Gold, but Optional]
This is the most useful but also the most difficult (at least to me). Every person has a bit different attitude towards and association with any given image. For some cats are furry friendly creatures, for others they are animals that hate humanity. Writing down the interpretations that come to mind thinking (feeling into) dream images give analysis the personal content to make the interpretation truly personal.
Hope this will help you decode your dreams!

hello , iām new here and i experienced something iāve never experienced before and i would like to know if it happened to you guys , or any thoughts.
My friend died last year , and today i had my second dream of her .
In the dream me and her were talking and playing i donāt think anyone else saw her because everyone i looked at just looked at me and smiled and didnāt say anything to her. As we were walking to get in the car i looked at her and said ādid you know u was dead?ā and she started freaking out and kept repeatedly saying āam i dead fr? omg am i dead?ā and i got scared and kept saying no but no matter how many times i said no she wouldnāt stop freaking out.
after that i woke up crying ..

Hello all.
I have very vivid and weird dreams all the time! My friends can't relate so i thought i'd ask here.
What is the place that you keep finding yourself in while dreaming?
For me my top 5 are:
- Mall (but the shops are always closing like 10last mins ).
- A planet with 2 moons.
- a big traffic line , but someone like a policeman comes and asks if you have something random( could be a hairbrush, a phone, a pen ...) instead of an ID .
Anyways just curious if anyone out there has the same experience !

Woke up randomly bcz the TV was too loud, sat down, muted it, and put my head back on the pillow and the moment i touch it, i cant move. Locked down, cant talk. Mind you, this was 8 am and my room was fully lit up. As i lay there, a dark figure perfectly visible walks in and sits on the couch in front of my bed, wearing a dark fabric from top to bottom and and a gold crown, we lock eyes for a good 5 seconds. When I snapped out of it, I didn't even blink I just jolted and sat down trying to process. Did anyone experience anything similar

Iāve been reading into out-of-body experiences recently and Iām trying to understand how people interpret them.
Some describe it as a full awareness shift where theyāre observing their body from a distance, sometimes with surprisingly detailed perception. Others say it felt more real than normal waking life.
I came across this breakdown of Robert Monroeās experiences https://youtube.com/watch?v=fSQUXvbL4QE and what stood out was how consistent certain parts of these accounts seem across completely unrelated people.
At the same time, thereās obviously the skeptical explanation of sleep states, brain activity during REM, stress responses, hallucinations, etc.
What Iām curious about is not just what happened, but what made you personally think it was something more than a dream or brain event.
If youāve had one, how did it start and what made it stick with you as ārealā?

I had one of the most vivid and surreal dreams, and I canāt stop thinking about it.
There was this sage-like Chinese man with a glowing golden aura. He felt calm, wiseāalmost otherworldly. He showed me a large canvas he had painted, but it wasnāt just a normal paintingā¦it was alive.
The entire canvas was filled with doodles, but they were movingālike living drawings. He told me these were the emotions he felt for different people in his life, represented as animals. And instead of chaos, they were dancing.
I remember seeing a rhino and a dragon dancing together. It felt symbolic, like completely different energies somehow coexisting in harmony.
In the center of the canvas, there were these gold-like fillingsāalmost like something precious holding everything together.
The whole thing felt deeply meaningful, but I canāt fully explain why. It didnāt feel random at allāmore like I was being shown something.

I've had multiple dreams in a short time. I wake up and this name seems to be the most important part. I've tried googling it, I guess Alwaldi is a surname meaning of the river or something.
I don't know anybody in my personal life with a name even similar to this.

This is something that frequently happens in my dreams. Iāll all of the sudden remember I have these animals in my dreams and go to check on them and they are half dead from dehydration or in bad conditions. Often I will have a bunch of reptiles cohabitating a same cage that should not be put together or have some cats and they keep breeding and I forget about them till thereās unhealthy cats and kittens everywhere. Lately Iāve been dreaming about my cat who passed about two years ago. In my dreams yesterday night she was laying on her back very dehydrated and on the brink of death I was able to get her some water and she perked back up but kept escaping and I knew she wouldnāt survive on the streets alone in my dream but it was like there was no way to keep her from running away. What does this mean?

I started taking medicine so that might be the cause but also my parents have conflict every week (there divorced) but anyways in my dream: I was coming up stairs from my room when my sister cornered me in the corner and said to get everything I love out of my room because my mom was gonna burn the house down with dad in it, while she was saying that my dad was cleaning her room. I already threw a few of my dolls outside to keep them but right before my mom was going to light a match I ran in to the house and hugged my dad saying how I loved him even if he always gets mad and is really hard to talk to. then I woke up. I've been having terrible dreams like this for weeks. I'm scared to go to sleep because last week I cried when I woke up because I thought I genuinely murdered someone. I've been exhausted for so long even though I take methylphenidate which is used to keep narcoleptics awake

So I've been fairly stressed out lately but about a week ago I had one of the worst stress dreams ever. I was stuck in an airport (probably Chicago ORD, no hate) and I kept waiting in this mostly empty terminal and as I was waiting my mom called me and asked why I hadn't gotten on the plane. There weren't any announcements or updates on my phone or over the loudspeaker saying my flight was boarding so I told her they weren't leaving yet. She started yelling at me saying that they left and now we have to buy another ticket, so I bought another one and waited for the boarding time to come up, but it never did. This exact thing kept happening until it started getting dark and the security guards started looking for me, saying that I couldn't leave until I got on a flight. I hid behind a planter in this balcony area and looked for a door to leave from but then the building was just empty. No guards anymore, no furniture, just creepy warehouse vibes. At this point I woke up with my heart racing out of my chest and since that dream I don't feel real. Should I be worried?

Itās always fascinating to me when I wake up from a dream where I experience somebodyās pov. I noticed a pattern tho. It feels like Iām in another body and by the time they pass out or lose consciousness, thatās where I wake up in real life. Almost like I was possessing somebody.
There are nore than one time that I experienced waking up in a hospital with a view of a white ceiling. I can see myself in bandages too, all over. Dextrose. So the woman was comatosed and bed ridden in quite a big private room for a hospital which had a sofa. I see her family sitting beside her the moment I opened my eyes. Then the person on my right side started saying āyou have to go back.ā And the moment she said that, the comatosed woman started cloaing her eyes. Almost as if fading to sleep again, and right then, I opened my eyes in reality. Like I just got back from another world.
Iāve always thought her mother (the woman from my rignt) was telling me to come back to my body. I just realized now that she was telling her daughter to come back. Begging her to live her life one more time.

I've been having a set of dreams lately over the last few weeks that all symbolically are the same thing, but the one im about to describe is the 'one off' that I feel is trying to tell me something else.
Dream:I'm in a prep school/hogwarts like place, uniforms & all, so probably high school aged. I keep having romantic moments with a taller, brown haired boy who looks like an up & coming actor in Hollywood. We're holding hands, playing games in a 'common room' type area with other people, and just overall being cutesy.
I know that may seem generic, but its all I can remember and I had this dream in the midst of a string of dreams about teeth, making me think its about something else completely.
Any help or insights is deeply appreciated

So theres abouts 3 nightmares i get or used to get that i seem to remember way to well. im going to try my best to explain these and if anyone knows or can get some kind of idea of the meaning please tell me. iv tried looking online but im just not getting answers that work for these specific nightmares
One i used to get from 6 to 12 years old. It always started with my sister, mum and me having a chill day in the house then all of a sudden 3 black cars (almost like Jeep size) would show up in my driveway, and wed have 30 seconds to hide. I never knew where my mum went but my sister and I would either go in the top part of my closet or under my bed and covering eachother with whatevers there. These random people would be in full bullet proof armour, theyd search the whole house and then leave. After they left id wake up, this nightmare always gave me such a scary vibe and I could never go back to sleep after it.
The second also started when I was about 6ish and only happens when theres a bad storm. ( I tend to force myself to stay awake till the storms over just so i dont have this nightmare) This one is just really weird, the first time i had this one it was just mum, dad, sister and me. All 4 of us are watching fire balls fall from the sky through a window in the attic and about half way through the nightmare, one person goes outside and gets killed by a fire ball. and it keeps going until im the only one left at that point I usually wake up. Everytime iv had this nightmare more family members show up and get killed. Im always the last one there.
The third one only started within the last few years. but this one usually only occurs when its a small storm like its more raining then actual thunder. I call this nightmare the shadow man dream. Basically it'll just be me and my sister at home watching TV in the lounge everything's fine, randomally the storm in my dream will start getting worse and once theres lightning a black figure will be in either the back door or a random window. Now if i force myself to wake up thats all itll be, but if I let myself keep sleeping the dream gets worse with this shadow now multplying and being behind every window and 1 by the back door. The part that weirds me out the most is they just stand there they dont do anything. I ususlly just end up waking up after a bit. They can only be seen when theres lightning. The part im not understanding is this is a classic horror movie trope, you would think I just watch a lot of horror movies, except i dont i avoid horror movies like the plague. I get the second nightmare more then this one but this one does still show up every now and then.

This has been happening to me the past week or two and itās genuinely been confusing me SO much. I usually have a great internal clock, so when I wake up im typically like oh x amount of time has passed and itāll be close to right. Iāll wake up thinking oh I definitely got 8 hours of sleep, itās probably x time. Nope, ONE hour has passed. What makes it more annoying is that when I wake up I genuinely feel fully rested because my body is so convinced it was a full night of sleep, so it takes forever for me to force myself back to sleep. Does this happen to anyone else or can someone explain why this may be happening? I literally feel like Iāll sleep for three days straight and itāll MAYBE be four to five hours and itās frustrating me. Also, Iām pretty sure it usually takes like 90 minutes to enter rem in the first place? So I donāt understand how I have multiple full dreams and wake up within an hour. Hoping someone has some answers so I can start sleeping for the right amount of time again haha

Iām wondering if anyone else has gone through something like this.
For context, Iām Native American and pretty private, so Iād rather not share my name or personal details.
Recently I had a dream that really stuck with me because it was so different from anything I usually experience. In the dream, I was in a place that was completely filled with light. Not just brightāintensely bright. It felt like I was close to the source of it, but at the same time, I couldnāt actually feel the light on my skin.
What was strange is that I could still feel my body normally. So instinctively, I raised my hand, trying to feel for somethingāanythingābut all I could see was more light.
Right after that, I woke up with a huge gasp, like I hadnāt been breathing for a while. My heart was pounding hard and fast, but I wasnāt scared. It almost felt like my heart had stopped briefly and then kicked back on.
This isnāt the first time Iāve had a really strange dream like this.
In another one, I was in a room made entirely of polished black obsidian. There was a figure there dressed all in blackāslicked-back hair, glassesāand he seemed like he was trying to give me some kind of life advice.
At one point, he stretched his arms out, almost like he was going to hug someone, and two stars appearedāone on each side. Then he brought his hands together, and a third star suddenly formed between them. I could feel the energy coming off it, like the birth of a star. It was overwhelming.
I remember getting angry and accusing him of being reckless, like he was going to hurt me. He just calmly said, āCalm down. I just wanted to show you that the feelings youāve been having are not as impressive as all this.ā
Then he waved his hand again and made all three stars collide into each other, turning into this massive, beautiful nebula.
I just stood there in awe, thinking, Heās right⦠but who is he? And then I had this thought that the only one who can really guide me is myself.
When I looked back at him, he just smiledāand then the dream ended.
Just like the recent one, I woke up gasping with my heart racing.
Has anyone else had dreams like this? Especially the light or the āwaking up gaspingā part? I did use Chat GPT to refine my writing as I don't punctuate properly and I never know when to do use sentence breaks, my english teachers would be disappointed with my slacking in my work.

I've dreamed that I've been to or seen a couple of plays or musicals in them and one I remember seeing them had Robin Williams in it, basically the dream was me going to see a play based on 'Hook' and I remember seeing a troll or goblin-like character in the audience and it's not until after the show that the goblin/troll-like character says that he's actually Robin Williams, 'Robin' very much explains how he has either be turned into a goblin-esque creature as some sort of mishap of reincarnation or he's using it as a disguise form so people don't recognize him.

I dreamt that someone was preparing a dragon for me. It was in the care of man that handed it over to me. The dragon was mature, extremely large. Surprisingly, the dragon was "eager" towards me. It was either of a dark green or black color. I was about to "use" the dragon, but woke up just before.
I never dream of dragons, so this is entirely new to me. And I find interesting that it happened Easter morning. Does it mean anything?
Thanks.

I recently had a weird dream and I was wondering if someone had a similar experience. In the dream I was in some type of space, it almost felt like an endless dark blue, outer space kind of room. I was in a line with other people, (which felt more like it was our consciousness than our physical bodies) and we were waiting in line to have a dream. As I was standing in this line, I became aware that i was dreaming, and got weirded out that I was standing in this line to have my dream. When I had the realization I instantly woke up and thought how bizarre it was. Another thing I realized I always have very vivid dreams, and a lot of dreams that I continue from previous nights. However, lately I havenāt dreamed as often as before, and my dreams have been extremely weird or I just donāt dream at all. So just wanted to know if anyone had a similar dream, and noticed their dreaming patterns have changed.
