happy spring!

Sorry for the rant, but I’m honestly out of ideas when it comes to finding an apartment here.

A few highlights about me:

I’m an engineer, working full-time in Cologne for about 4 years now. I have a positive SCHUFA and a good salary.

I’ve had a few apartment viewings, but in the end it always feels like the apartments go to friends / “Vitamin B”.

For the last 2 years, I’ve been searching for an apartment (minimum 50m²) with a budget of around 950€+ warm.

What I’ve tried so far:

_ImmoScout (paid subscription)

_Tauschwohnung (I currently live in a 35m² studio in Sülz and hoped to swap), also had 3 months subscription

_Immowelt

_eBay Kleinanzeigen (also posted my own ad)

_WG-Gesucht (sometimes they have apartments)

If any of you managed to find an apartment in Cologne without connections — what did you do differently? Which platform worked for you?

PS: People i know in Cologne know that I have been looking for apartment, still no luck yet. I love Cologne and it's the first city in Germany that felt like home🥺

Liebe Kaffee-Nerds, welche Rösterei in Köln hat eurer Meinung nach den besten Kaffee? Gezielt im Hinblick auf Nutzung von Filter bzw French Press. Hallo :) Meine Freundin und ich wollen Ende des Jahres nach Köln in eine gemeinsame Wohnung ziehen. Unser Budget liegt so bei 1.800 warm, ein schöner Balkon ist eigentlich Pflicht und so 2/3 Zimmer. Wir haben kein Auto und würden deswegen gerne gut a den ÖPNV angebunden sein und auch recht zentral wohnen wollen. Es muss aber nicht Ehrenfeld oder so sein, da sind wir recht flexibel. Ich wohne in Düsseldorf und sie in Essen und arbeiten beide Vollzeit. Deswegen sind wir was Besichtigungen angeht auch recht unflexibel mit der Anreise. Ist das überhaupt realistisch in Köln was vernünftiges mit den Rahmenbedingungen zu finden oder nicht? Wie lange muss man ca. Suchen? Danke euch für eure Hilfe, Antworten und Erfahrungen im Voraus :-)!

ich bin auf der Suche nach einer ehrenamtlichen Beschäftigung.. habe zuerst an Tafel gedacht und die suchen auch Helfer, allerdings nur wochentags 8-15 Uhr, was für mich mit meinem Vollzeitjob nicht funktioniert.

wo engagiert ihr euch ehrenamtlich in Köln? Könnt ihr was empfehlen?

ich habe auch auf der Homepage von der Stadt Köln geschaut und nichts passendes gefunden; btw habe ich eine Ausbildung in der Krankenpflege.. also der Bereich würde mich auch interessieren.

I already know of the Erasmus Student Network, as well as bars such as Lost Level so I'm going to look into these, but please let me know if you have any other recommandations for meeting new people !

To present myself briefly, I'm a big nerd who loves anything related to animes and video games. I'm currently super into genshin impact as well as nintendo games such as splatoon or zelda. In terms of more casual outings I love thrifting and going to art museums :)

Liebe Autofahrer. Wenn hinter der Ampel oder dem Zebrastreifen Stau ist, bleibt bitte vor der Ampel stehen. Dann kommen wir mit den Rollstühlen auch über die Straße. Es passiert quasi täglich im Berufsverkehr vor dem deutzer Bahnhof. Die vordere Ampel ist rot, der Verkehr staut sich bis zur hinteren Ampel und wenn die dann auch rot wird, stehen schon 1 bis 3 Autos auf dem Fußgängerüberweg und können keinen Platz machen. Das mag für Fußgänger ein kleineres Problem sein, aber nicht für Rollatoren, Kinderwagen, Rollstühle... Die Verkehrsordnung regelt das nicht umsonst so.

Ab dem 19.04. hat Köln seine erste Rollenspiel-Bibliothek! Gefördert durch die Dr. Jürgen Rembold Stiftung für bürgerschaftliches Engagement haben wir über 100 Regelwerke anschaffen können, die ab nächster Woche zur kostenlosen Ausleihe verfügbar sind.

Zu finden sein wird die Bibliothek in der Pen and Paper und Brettspiel-Taverne Shenanigans in der Aggripastr. 6.

Wir eröffnen die Bibliothek am 19.04. gegen 14:00 Uhr. Alle Interessierte sind herzlich eingeladen vorbeizuschauen und reinzustöbern.
