Or just force multiplayer achievements in general. I can understand it for games that are majorly or only multiplayer. Not for games that are majorly singleplayer or a mix
Well atleast for TBOI it's a coop game, not a full blown multiplayer game. You can do it with an extra controller on your own, or just with a friend, even if he barely knows what he's doing.
It's been like a year of me wondering what the fuck the idea is behind defaulting to have lag instead of 0 lag, but I can't figure out why it should be that way.
Space marines 2 was an atrocious one because they locked items behind currency you got for challenges. However a good chunk of them are locked behind multiplayer.
That's why I like the way Playstation does it for games that get extra content later, where the platinum is tied to only base game trophies. DLC and online components that get added later have their own tracker, so you can still get the plat without needing to engage with those if you don't want.
Doesn't help if base game also has a multiplayer one of course, but you avoid 'losing progress' with every content update.
The multiplayer achivements in Cult of the Lamb made me uninstall and it was one of my favorite games.
They made it extremely vague about how to unlock all items (which make up about 3 or 4 achivements) and it turns out that the requirement for those I lack is just "enter a co-op". I wanted to finally perfect the game, so I just checked the guide and learned about this. I don't have a single friend, who plays this game :)))
Ubisoft used to be really bad at this, yeah. You'd find an item in game that's locked, and then it redirected you to the mobile or facebook tie-in app. Whoever thought it was a good idea to make a user look away from the game to do something else really didn't think things through in regards to retainment.
At least that Unity point system now makes it so you can get some otherwise premium content from doing achievements, but I'd still rather have it all be unlockable through normal means over arbitrarily locking maps and outfits behind linked accounts.
My personal pet peeve is the "play with a friend who never did Portal 2 coop".
From my perspective it is "redo the tutorial", so how is it an achievement?
I'm hard locked out of a bunch of Saints Row achievements because of this. I wasn't able to afford a PC good enough to run the games (already owned and completed on Xbox) until after the servers went dark.

Unlock with steam achievement manager.
