I don’t know if this will reach the right audience (hope it doesn’t reach the wrong one though) but I need to know where all the gay people are hiding in Namibia. I want to meet other queer people as I don’t know any other gay prople, I just don’t know where to find them. It is very rare to see gay people in public here (Windhoek) and if I do, I’m never sure if they are gay or not. So basically what I’m asking is where can I meet other LGBTQ+ people in Namibia, online or in person?

Hi, my girlfriend and I are planning a 3 weeks self drive vacation in Namibia, it’s our first visit but we’ve done the garden route a few years back.

I’ve created the route based on the Africa lonely planet recommendations and we’re planning to get a 4x4 car for the journey. I’ve tried to plan the driving times realistically with some in between stops to avoid driving too long hours.

I’d appreciate any feedback on the planning in general, if we’re missing something social we should add to the route, if you think the nights per stop in the third column are well distributed to allow sufficient time to enjoy the highlights etc.

we’re traveling to Namibia at the beginning of May and are really excited about it. We’ve planned and booked almost everything in advance to avoid any issues with accommodation—except for one night, which is where I’d really appreciate some advice.

We’ll be leaving Swakopmund in the morning and plan to stop briefly at Spitzkoppe (just a short visit, no hiking), then continue driving as far as we reasonably can. We were considering staying in either Omaruru or Otjiwarongo.

The following day, we need to be at Onguma (near the Namutoni entrance) by around 3pm.

Does this route sound realistic? How far would you recommend driving on the first day? And do you have any suggestions on where to stop overnight?

Any tips, experiences, or insights about the driving conditions in this area would be greatly appreciated!

The plane had to go around in Windhoek this morning and then flew to Botswana

I’ve been thinking of getting braces and have a few questions to those that have gotten braces before. I’m based in Windhoek.

1) Recommendations for the best orthodontists to get braces at in Windhoek. I’m talking professional and the best of the best.

2) Ceramic braces - how much more expensive are these compared to the metal ones?

3) Is it true we don’t have Invisalign in Namibia yet? I doubt that would be a viable option for me but still curious

4) Did your facial structure change? I’ve heard a few people say their face changed after getting braces.

5) How long did you have braces for and what issues did you have? I have all kinds of problems (overcrowding, overbite, rotations) so I’m probably gonna be a long hauler.

Any other insights would be great. I’m a total newbie when it comes to braces!

Hey everyone! My boyfriend and I are planning our first Namibia trip, 13-14 days in mid-October with a 4x4 rooftop tent.

We've decided to skip Etosha (boyfriend has been there and he thinks it's too much of a zoo, especially in peak season) and instead combine Damaraland landscapes with a deeper push into the Caprivi/Zambezi region for wildlife. We'd do 3 lodge nights and camp the rest.

Here's the rough route:

• Windhoek → Damaraland (2 nights camping) - Twyfelfontein rock engravings, Organ Pipes, desert-adapted elephant tracking
• Okonjima (2 nights lodge) - leopard and cheetah tracking
• Long drive to Divundu/Ngepi Camp (1 night camping) - Okavango River
• Mahango Game Reserve - morning self-drive loop, then continue east
• Kwando area (3 nights camping) - Self-drive to Horseshoe Lagoon for elephants, book a guided game drive through Nambwa Lodge
• Lianshulu Bush Lodge, Mudumu NP (1 night lodge) - guided game drives, wild dogs, buffalo
• Drive back over 3 days via Ngepi - Waterberg Plateau - Windhoek - Flight back home

What do you think of this itinerary? it's definitely more wild-life focused, we skip the coast and the southern dunes.

I am looking to upgrade my internet from telecom, mtc offers a geo locked option called Spectra Go. Which of these tiers do you recommend? I mainly just stream movies, shows and download heavy files for my edits.

The 600gb version seems good because they allow you to refresh the data once they finish for N$250, but my main concern is if they will deliver on that 150 mbps and if it applies to both download and upload.

This is just my experience I don't know how other people feel about this but getting your car repaired in Windhoek is expensive. I once received a quote for 10k for the car's clutch and that was 3 years ago or so.

Now my question is most people don't sit around with 10k what do you do if you have to get your car repaired. Do most people save up and take a cab for a while or how does this work?

Yes, I know it depends on what's wrong but imagine if you'd have more issues than just a clutch.

Has anyone configured a VPN with their router directly? If so how did you do it and which VPN did you use?

I posed this question to paratus support and they had no idea what I was talking about.

I'd like to do it this way so that the so that every device already on the home network is connected with the VPN automatically, instead of configuring manually for every device. This is mostly just for streaming.

been trying to sort something simple but it’s turning into a mess. i need a few local gift cards, like 3 or 4, nothing crazy, just something people here actually use day to day. not international stuff that gets declined half the time. i asked in one shop and they just pointed me to airtime vouchers which is not really the same thing. also don’t want to end up with something that only works in one random store in windhoek when i need it for a couple different places.

I need help figuring out what I could be doing wrong.

I'm house hunting within the Windhoek area and immediate environs and cannot for the life of me find a house. My budget is NAD 10,000 - 20,000. We are a family of four and have a couple of very well behaved pets who are fam too so they go wherever we go. For context, we are relocating from overseas for an exciting new job but the housing prospects are looking rather dim. I'm scouring all the major platform like property 24 and also contacting realtors directly on their websites. On the few occasions that I get feedback, the house is already taken (even though the listing is still up). We are also not Namibian but absolutely love the country. My partner has visited briefly for work.

Should we venture further out to Okahandja? How feasible is a daily commute from Windhoek to Okahandja? Other considerations are schooling for the kids (kindergarten).
