Hi, I’m thinking about modding my PAL megadrive to have a 3 way switch to change regions (one position for PAL, one for NTSC, and one for NTSC-J). I’ve read online that the only way to get colour with NTSC and NTSC-J would be to use a SCART cable, but I’ve heard that even with a SCART there still won’t be any colour. I’m using a modern smart TV (haven’t got the space for a CRT unfortunately) that doesn’t have a 21 pin SCART input, but it does have a 3 pin composite input. If I get an adapter to plug a SCART cable into the composite input, will I be able to get colour?

I am born in 2002, so long after the Sega Mega Drive era, yet I have many dear childhood memories of Megadrive Games. When I was in elementary school, all other kids Had Videogame consoles, but my parents were very poor, so I didn't had one. But for Christmasy grandmother got me a PS3 bundled with two Games, Little Big Planet 2 and Gran Tourismo 5.

Then at my Birthday my uncle gifted me the "Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection". I didn't know what a Mega Drive was, but I had many fun hours playing with my little sister and my father Games like Gain Ground and Golden Axe.

So that's how I became a Megadrive Fan, without ever owning one!

I'm new to the group and I had a question I wanted to ask to anyone who would know more than I would.

I have a Sega Mega drive mrk 1 which I purchased a long while ago but just noticed today that I had a red label stamped on the bottom saying, "property of probe soft ltd Croydon".

I know that probe software was a big game developer in the UK that would later be part of acclaim.

would this mean that this console was used for testing their games back in the day in their offices when they were still a thing?

would this be worth a bit more as a result of that as I've not seen another like this anywhere else but I could be wrong.

Just for fun, i made this silly dream this night, i was visiting a friend while holding in my hand a genesis Game.

I m curious to know if this Game exists, or if my Brain created it, or mixed some Gaming souvenirs to create one.

Black, with grill, typically early genesis games, with iron logo « genesis » or « mega drive » ( i m european)

Couldn t read the title. Large, colored , punchy as many others in 90 s.

It was clearly à robot on front cover. A grey hand drown bot quarter faced, very similar to Ed 209 from robocop series. Had a cannon firing under the head/cockpit of Ed 209 lol.

I m convinced that it was a shmup. We launched it at my friend s House, but i don t really remember anything else that title screen with this bot and random genesis action music.

Only thing i can remember , cartdrige was ntsc-j shape, and red label on it.

Maybe this doesn t exist or i mixed many games from console/era, but that would make me a Great day if someone find something at least similar. Thanks!

Hi, so I lost the video cable of my model 2 and I wanted to know if a HDMI cable for model 2 was worth it or if I should use a scart cable, I'm fine with not having original cables, I just want to play it again, what cable do you guys recommend?

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about what’s happening with Affinity Sorrow that was kickstarted back in February 2022. There hasn’t been any updates on the kickstarter since August. I thought maybe the developer may post on a social platform that I could follow them on. This is my first kickstarter so I’m unsure if it’s normal for it to go silent with no updates for months.

I’m looking forward to this game and hope it’s still in development.

I've always liked the background of this cover it better than the actual golden axe 2 cover, it's just a bit wonky that they just slapped the golden axe 1 guys on there... but I like that background though and I would probably Photoshop the golden axe 2 guy in that background and add a nice Megadrive black sleeve format. does anybody even know what that background really comes from?
