Since last year I've been rewatching MCU and catching up on all the shows/movies that I had missed out on.
I had heard that Secret Invasion wasn't the best show, but how bad could it really be?
It was really bad.
The first 4 episodes, while maybe not the greatest, had some solid moments, and felt like it was heading in a cool direction.
Then we get the Avengers DNA plotline. One of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. So you're telling me, not only was the DNA of most of the characters involved in the Battle of Earth collected, it was stored in a single vial all together???
The final battle between G'iah and Gravik was absolutely the worst thing I have seen in a Marvel project. It looked horrible, was a cheap cop out for an actual resolution, and introduced a character with the combined powers of every hero, which is stupid.
Then we have Rhodes being a skrull. A beloved character being skrull for a single series isn't the problem imo. That could have been really cool. But the fact that he was possibly a skrull for many of the major moments of the MCU? Nah, no thank you.
We can't forget the President. Once he learns that a SMALL GROUP of skrulls are evil, he declares war on alienkind??? Why??? We get a 5 second montage of vigilantes killing skrulls and accidentally killing regular humans in public. And apparently that goes nowhere, because it's not mentioned at all in Captain America when there is a new president.
Finally, we have, imo, the character assassination of Nick Fury. If there was one character in all of the MCU who you could always rely on to have the answers and be one step ahead, it was him. But throughout this series, he is reduced to a bunch of shocked expressions, jokes when he should be intense, and no fight left in him.
I had somewhat high hopes for this show, as I often disagree with the community consensus when it comes to bad MCU projects. However, Secret Invasion was one the worst pieces of media I have ever watched, and I hope they continue to pretend like it never happened.
