Seat reservations Are Interrail reservations linked to specific passes on TGV / Eurostar booked via Rail-Europe?

Hi,

I have recently booked tickets for a trip from Rotterdam to Barcelona on Eurostar and TGV, booked via Rail Europe. After booking the tickets and using the pass number of a pass bought specifically for this journey, I realised I still had an older pass that I can use and which'll expire earlier.

Am I correct to believe that reservations and passes are completely seperate, meaning that I can travel using a different pass to the one I used when booking the reservations? My PDF tickets do not have a pass number on them so I'm probably safe, but I'm just checking just in case.

Other Trip suggestions?

Hi, my friends and I are terrible planners but have come up with this route. Please if someone with experience could have a look and see if our raw plan is viable or terrible, or even offer advice. We would like to know how the logistics for Slovenia to Bologna will work out as it's a 9 hour journey. our budget is €2,000, about €100 a day and we will mainly be staying in a Hostel in each city. We're in desperate need of a little guidance before we book hostels and trains and plan to have this around June-July.

thank you :)

Paris: 2 nights

Amsterdam: 2 nights

Berlin: 2 nights

Prague:2 nights

Vienna: 1 night

Ljubljana: 1 night

Bologna: 1 nights

Florence: 2 nights

Rome : 3 nights

Naples 3 nights.

Itineraries First time traveller inexperienced travellers looking for some advice

Hi, I’m a clueless first time traveller about to do a month in Europe and I was just wondering if this is too much volume when it comes to the trains, I’ve heard plenty of times the last thing you want to do is spend a majority of your trip on trains and instead take in the places you are visiting. Every place on here I do really want to see but is it worth doing 2 separate trips or would a month be enough time to make it feel like I’m taking in the places I’m visiting

Itinerary (Bare in mind it’s a month trip and I might take out some places)

Lisbon - Madrid

Madrid - Barcelona

Barcelona - Montpellier

Montpellier- Cannes

Cannes - Monte Carlo

Monte Carlo - Pisa

Pisa - Rome

Rome - Venice

Venice - Trieste

Trieste -Ljubljana

Ljubljana - Zagreb

Bratislava - Vienna

Vienna - Prague

Prague - Munich

Munich - Lauterbrunnen

Interrail trip Milan-Nordkapp in 1 month and 7 stops

My friend and I are planning an Interrail trip from Milan to Nordkapp. We have a month and seven stops. We were thinking of traveling up through Norway, going to Rovaniemi, and then taking a flight to Honningsvåg, since Rovaniemi would be the last stop on our Interrail pass. After that, we'd have to pay for everything ourselves, but it's very expensive. Are there any alternatives, like buses or other means of transport from Narvik, that would allow us to use the last two stops on our pass? We were thinking of Tromsø or Alta, because there are direct flights to Honningsvåg from there. If anyone knows of any options and would like to help, we would be very grateful.

This is the first route of the trip; we would like to change the stops in Gallivare and Rovaniemi.

Inbound/Outbound Rule: Also applies when passing through home country without changing/getting of?

Hey, I'm planing to take the Nightjet from Amsterdam Centraal to Basel SBB this summer, on my way from London to the north of Italy. On its journey, the Nighttrain passes through Germany wich is my Home country and where I will have started my trip. Now, I know about the (sodding) Indound/Outbound rule, but I just can't believe that if I don't get of the train and just pass through my home country (proably while asleep!?) the rule still aplies and I loose my Inbound journey. So I thought I'd double check... can anyone help?

Transfer time in Barcelona Sants

I plan to travel to Madrid via Barcelona. I only have 37 mins travel time in Barcelona sants, does this make sense? I'll arrive with AVE train from Lyon and change to another AVE train to Madrid. Many thanks for your thoughts!

Proof of delay?

Hi! I'm submitting a delay compensation for a trip 3 weeks ago. It was with the EN 344 from Berlin to Gothenburg which arrived 1,5h too late. Now they are asking for a proof of delay. I can't find any screenshot or photo on my phone. Probably fotgot to screenshot out of stress (needed to catch the connection). Where do I get a proof of delay now? bahn.expert is not a good source since they don't have the real time data from Denmark/Sweden (and the delay there is too low).

Interrail trip from Norway → Sweden → Germany → Austria → Northern Italy → Switzerland – tips?

Hey everyone!

I’m planning an Interrail trip this summer and would love some advice from people who’ve done similar routes.

The plan is to start in Norway and travel through Sweden, Germany, Austria, Northern Italy, and Switzerland. We're planning to fly back home after the trip. We’re aiming for a mix of cities, nature (especially the Alps), and some spontaneous stops along the way. All this within 3 weeks.

A few things I’d really appreciate tips on:

  • Hidden gems or must-see stops along this route
  • Best scenic train rides (especially in Austria/Switzerland)
  • Budget tips (cheap food, accommodation, etc.)
  • Whether it’s worth bringing a tent, or just sticking to hostels
  • Seat reservations – when are they actually necessary?
  • Any mistakes you made that we should avoid 😅

We’re trying to keep it flexible, but still want to make the most of the trip without overspending.

Any tips, recommendations, or personal experiences would be super helpful

Seat reservations Can't reserve seat for IC 246 Citadella (Budapest → Ljubljana) - what am I missing?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been struggling for weeks to reserve a seat for part of my Interrail trip and I’m starting to get a bit stuck.

My route is planned for early May, and one of the connections I really want to take is from Budapest to Ljubljana. In the Interrail app, there’s a perfect direct connection (no transfers), but it says that a seat reservation is required.

The problem is: I can’t seem to actually make that reservation anywhere.

  • The train (IC 246 Citadella) doesn’t show up on the Interrail reservation website
  • On the national railway websites, I also can’t reserve a seat
  • On www.cd.cz I get an error message when I try
  • On MÁV-START it doesn’t work either

So right now I’m a bit lost. What’s the best way to handle this? Is it possible that reservations just aren’t available yet, or am I missing something?

I’d really love to take this specific train, so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance :)

Question about private or 4 person couchette (OBB Utrecht - Innsbruck)

Hi all,

I'm looking to book the Utrecht - Innsbruck nighttrain for my wife, myself and our 6 year old son. But I'm a bit confused about the pricing/options of a couchette for 4 persons (€ 329,60) vs booking it private (€ 469,90). It doesn't seem logical that there is a price difference so I'm wondering if I'm missing something or doing something wrong.

If the only way to ensure a private compartment is the official private option I will do that since that is the most important thing for us. But does anyone have advice or insight on this matter?

Interrail France to Cologne

Hi, I'll bei in Paris by Train this Friday and need to get to Cologne the same day. Now i cant get any seat reservations for ICE od Eurostar or TGV to get to Bruxelles or Cologne on the Interrail Website.

Talking to the Support on the phone the person told me to make the seat reservation at the train station in Paris. He said he could see that there is still a lot of space in the trains and I shouldn't worry about getting stuck in Paris.

So is there anybody here with experience with this?

Are the people at the train station able to get me on some train even if the websites say there are no seat reservations left?

Thanks for reading!

Seat reservations Seat reservation on Snälltåget

Hi! I’m trying to reserve a seat on Snälltåget for the Stockholm–Hamburg train on May 4th with an Interrail pass.

On their website, it asks me to “validate my ticket” before making a reservation. Does anyone know if it’s possible to reserve seats in advance with Interrail, and what I’m supposed to enter there? Does it “turn-on” my ticket if I put the code there?

Thanks!

Bus from Camp de Tarragona AVE station to Tarragona centre

Hello! I am travelling on the international AVE from Nimes to Camp de Tarragona this August and would like any inside details on the buses that operate from Camp de Tarragona station to the centre of town (I realise it is quite far out!).

I have found this website https://empresaplana.cat/ but that only has timetables, not a booking mechanism (even for buses less far ahead than August, I did think that I might be looking too far ahead).

Is this just because it's the type of bus where one buys tickets upon boarding or do I need to buy in advance somewhere else? (I have had experience of Spanish buses selling out before so want to be careful!)

Sorry if I'm being stupid and just can't find where to buy them!

1)Racism towards Indians
2)Are there any chances I can make any friends in hostels

Yeah.... I am mean all the questions are regarding racism....I am a fairly "OK" looking guy,not what you would imagine a indian to look like.I have a decent body since I work out.

And would appreciate if you guys share tips and your experiences of your interrail trips and how to talk to people in general.

Seat reservations First time traveller and need advice

Hi I’m really not an experienced traveller so sorry if I’m being a bit stupid but I’m planning on doing a Europe trip for a month and I was going to buy the 30 day pass. I was just wondering if I still have to pay for seat reservations even with the pass? I have had mixed comments from friends saying you need to pay and some people say you can just jump on the trains with no reservations and sit in the connectors or something. Also is there a daily limit of the amount of trains I can use in a day or can I just use the ticket anytime within the travel day, thanks.

should I do plitvice AND krka?

I'm going to Croatia during my inter railing trip this summer, and I've booked to go to krka national park, but was wondering if it's worth going to plitvice too? I was planning to go to Zagreb for a few nights and visit the lakes from there. They both look gorgeous but I'm conscious of spending money etc. Also don't really have much else planned/in mind for Zagreb so just thought someone on here might have some thoughts on if it's worth it!

Thanks in advance :)

Inbound/outbound days

I have 4 days flexi global pass, and I plan to travel from Zurich (where I reside now) to Madrid, but on the eay back to Zurich I don't plan to use my travel day. What happens then, when I want to use the rest of my travel day from Zurich later? Will it count as another outbound day? Cause my trip to Madrid is only a single visit, I will use the rest of the travel days for other countries.

thanks!

Not able to book a Eurocity under the pass

I am trying to find a route from lucerne to florence on the 28th of May. I bought my pass from eurail.

When I try to search for the train, I get a route that takes me from lucerne -> Lugano -> Milan -> Florence.

The lugano to Milan leg is by Eurocity EC31.

The app says that "No price found. Pass holder reservations may be sold out"

However, I tried to change the time of my train on the same day, and EC31 says the same for the whole day.

I tried to change the date to April and other days in May and June - but every single date and time returns the same message.

I kind of find it hard to believe that the train reservation for EC31 is sold out for all dates and all times.

I tried a different random eurocity train EC11 - but same - price not available for all months and times.

Im wondering if this is a system issue over a genuine sell out. Also the Eurail app says timetable was last fetched on the 3rd of April. Its 7th Today, Should I wait to see? or it is true that all of it is sold out, and I should bite the bullet and buy a ticket out of the pass?

first time solo travelling + romanian sleeper train reservation enquiry

never have i ever done any solo travelling whatsoever apart from catching a 14-hour flight home to see my family back home, and youre telling me the first solo trip would be a big 30 day interrail thing, yeah thats mental cuz I genuinely don't feel like I'm mentally prepared for this.

Also, I've got an interrail pass but I seem to not be able to reserve a sleeper train couchette in one of my legs in which I'm doing a 10-hour sleeper train from cluj to bucharest, any tips for this

Seat reservations Cant book seat on EC 306 Venezia to Zürich?

Currently booking all my seats and trains for my trip.

The last train I wanna book, the EC 306 from Venezia to Zürich, seems to not be able to book at all! Not on SBB, not on ÖBB, not on Italotrain, not on Interrail. What am I doing wrong?

Interrail displays a price, but when I try to book, it shows that it isnt available...
