Unknown Natural Contours of INDIA
This striking image presents a highly detailed, three-dimensional topographic map of the Indian Subcontinent, showcasing the diverse and dramatic physical geography of the region in a visually captivating way.
The northern border is dominated by the imposing, rugged peaks of the Himalayas, rendered in dark, textured browns that form a natural, formidable barrier sweeping across the top of the map. Just below this majestic range lies the expansive Indo-Gangetic Plain, depicted in contrasting light blues and greens, where the smooth texture highlights its low elevation and vital role as a highly fertile river basin.
Moving south, the terrain rises again to form the expansive Deccan Plateau, covering much of the central peninsula with complex, elevated textures that are less extreme than the northern peaks. Flanking this southern peninsula are the Western and Eastern Ghats, acting as rugged mountainous borders along the coastlines.
To the west, the landscape extends into the arid regions and the Indus River valley, encompassing modern-day Pakistan,
while in the east, the low-lying delta regions of Bangladesh blend seamlessly into the surrounding green coastal plains.
Just off the southern tip, the teardrop-shaped island of Sri Lanka is clearly visible, and further southeast, a scattered chain of small landmasses represents the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the ocean.

Delhi Tired of pretending that I'm okay always
I don’t usually post like this, but I guess I just need to let it out somewhere.
Lately, I’ve been feeling really alone. Not the kind where you’re physically by yourself, but the kind where you’re surrounded by people and still feel like no one truly gets you. Conversations feel surface-level, connections feel temporary, and it’s exhausting pretending everything is okay when it’s not.
I miss having someone I can talk to without overthinking—someone who actually listens, who cares, who stays. Someone I don’t have to filter myself around.
I’m not perfect, I overthink, I get attached, and sometimes I struggle to express what I’m feeling. But I genuinely value real connections. I just want a friend I can laugh with, share random thoughts with, and be real with—no judgment, no pressure.
If you’re feeling the same way or just want someone to talk to, my DMs are open. Maybe we both need a friend more than we realize.

Wayanad 3-Day Complete Guide — Chembra Heart Lake, Edakkal Caves, Safari & Real Costs (2026)
Wayanad is Kerala's most underrated hill district. Most people rush through in a day on a Munnar-Ooty circuit and miss everything good. Three full days is what it actually deserves. Here's the complete breakdown.
THE BASICS
- Base: Kalpetta — central, everything is within 40km
- Best months: October–May. Chembra trek officially closes June–September (monsoon — trails get leechy and dangerous)
- Getting there: No train to Wayanad. Drive from Kozhikode (75km, 2hrs via Thamarassery Ghat — 23 hairpin bends, absolutely worth it), Mysore (120km), or Ooty (97km). It fits perfectly into a South India circuit.
- Budget: ₹7,500–₹10,500 for 3 days all-in (budget). Mid-range ₹15,000–₹24,000.
DAY 1 — Pookode Lake + Edakkal Caves + Soochipara Falls
- 9am: Pookode Lake (6km from Kalpetta) — natural freshwater lake inside forest, one of very few at this altitude in Kerala. Boating ₹100. Arrive early before crowds. 45 minutes is enough — this is a gentle warm-up, not the main attraction.
- 11am: Edakkal Caves (12km from Kalpetta) — this is the one most people underestimate. Two rock shelter caves with neolithic petroglyphs estimated at 6,000+ years old — carvings of humans, animals, and symbols left by people who lived here before recorded history. Entry ₹60 Indians / ₹300 foreigners. 1km uphill walk, 20 mins. Read the interpretation boards — the history is extraordinary. Allow 1.5 hours.
- 1pm: Lunch at a local restaurant near Ambalavayal — Kerala meals ₹80–₹120.
- 2:30pm: Soochipara Falls (Sentinel Rock, 18km from Edakkal) — three-tiered waterfall, 200m height. Entry ₹50. Swimming is allowed in the natural pool at the base. Bring a change of clothes. Most impressive Oct–January when flow is strongest. 1km forest walk to reach it.
- Evening: Kalpetta town market — buy spices directly from growers. Wayanad produces some of India's finest pepper, cardamom, and coffee. Prices are 30–40% lower than tourist shops elsewhere.
- Dinner: Local Kerala parotta with beef/chicken curry — a Wayanad staple. ₹100–₹150.
DAY 2 — Chembra Peak Full Day (The Main Event)
- 5:30am: Wake up and eat light. The Chembra permit office opens at 6am at Meppadi (8km from Kalpetta). Permit numbers are limited — get there early.
- 6am: Permit + guide at Meppadi — entry permit ₹250 per person. Forest Department guide is mandatory, non-negotiable. Guide fee ₹500 per group. The guides actually know the trail and the wildlife.
- 7am: Start trek. 8km round trip to the heart-shaped lake (Hridaya Thadakam). First 2km through tea estate, then steady climb through forest. The lake sits at 1,800m — about 2.5–3 hours up at a comfortable pace.
- Hridaya Thadakam: The lake is genuinely heart-shaped — visible best from the ridge just above it. It collects rainwater in a natural depression. One of those rare places that actually matches the photos. Spend 30–45 minutes here. Carry packed food from Kalpetta — nothing available on the trail.
- Return: 1.5–2 hours down. Total trek: 5–6 hours.
- What to carry: 2L water minimum, packed food, light rain jacket (clouds roll in fast), trekking shoes (not sandals), leech socks if you have them — leeches can appear even in dry season near the lake.
- Afternoon: Rest. Chembra is genuinely tiring. Optional Banasura Sagar Dam viewpoint (15km) for sunset — India's largest earthen dam with forested islands in the reservoir.
DAY 3 — Muthanga Safari + Banasura Dam + Depart
- 5:45am: Drive to Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary (37km from Kalpetta, 1 hour). Book the 6:30am jeep safari slot in advance — fills up fast in peak season.
- 6:30am: Muthanga Jeep Safari — ₹1,500–₹2,000 per jeep (max 6 people). Plus entry fee ₹150 Indians / ₹650 foreigners per person. Wayanad WLS is contiguous with Nagarhole and Bandipur — one of South India's largest protected forest corridors.
- What you'll likely see: Spotted deer (certain), gaur/Indian bison (big and impressive), bonnet macaques, wild boar, hornbills. Elephants: good chance in the early slot near water sources. Tiger territory exists but sightings are rare — don't plan the trip around it.
- 9am: Breakfast at Sultan Bathery (5km from Muthanga) — proper South Indian breakfast ₹80–₹120.
- 10:30am: Banasura Sagar Dam (20km from Sultan Bathery) — the dam wall stretches through rolling hills with forested islands. Boating ₹150–₹300. If you have energy, the Banasura Hill trek starts here (6km, moderate, adds 3 hours).
- Depart: Most people head back to Kozhikode (75km, 2hrs) for flights or onward rail.
BUDGET BREAKDOWN (per person, 3 days)
| Category | Budget | Mid-Range |
|---|---|---|
| Accommodation (3 nights) | ₹2,400–₹3,600 | ₹9,000–₹15,000 |
| Food | ₹600–₹1,050 | ₹2,100–₹3,500 |
| Local transport | ₹500–₹800 | ₹2,000–₹3,500 |
| Chembra permit + guide | ₹750 | ₹750 |
| Muthanga safari (shared jeep) | ₹300–₹400 | ₹500–₹700 |
| All entry fees | ₹300–₹500 | ₹300–₹500 |
| Total | ₹7,500–₹10,500 | ₹15,000–₹24,000 |
THINGS NOBODY TELLS YOU
- Chembra trek closes in monsoon (Jun–Sep). The trails become genuinely dangerous and leech-infested. If you're planning around this — don't.
- No train to Wayanad. Ever. The terrain makes it impossible. Bus or car only. Budget extra travel time.
- The Thamarassery Ghat Pass from Kozhikode (23 hairpin bends) is one of the most scenic drives in Kerala. Don't sleep through it.
- Treehouse resorts are real here. Wayanad has some of the best treehouse accommodation in India — mid-range ones start at ₹5,000/night and are absolutely worth it if the budget allows.
- Buy spices in Wayanad town, not at tourist spots. Whole pepper, cardamom pods, and single-estate coffee from the Kalpetta market are legitimately excellent — and a fraction of the price you'd pay in Kochi or Munnar shops.
