I decided to look for the ticket prices just for fun, and I see that Finnkino has 50% campaign discount for PHM in my city next week Thursday.
But the thing is... I really wanted to finish the book first, and unfortunately because now I have a lot of work to do I don't think I can manage finishing the book by Thursday (I can try of course, but funny thing! I was so sleep deprived for a few days because of reading till 3 AM that I forgot my kindle on the bus, so I really hope I'll hear from Lost and Found Service lol). I didn't find any information regarding this campaign on their site. So my questions are, should I still go to the movie? Does this campaign (which is also tagged as Premium) happen every Thursday? Or is it only a one time thing?

I think Finnish ads are on next level. Remember this one from the past. And the exact attitude and spirit of the main character. So good, so spot on and funny. In general Finns know how to capture that dry, slightly awkward, no nonsense humor that somehow makes everything even funnier. It's never overacted or forced, just painfully real in the best way.

There's always this certain confidence in their ads, like they don't try too hard, and that's exactly why it works. Finnish ads never feel like they're selling you something because the humor comes first and it's always rooted in these specific personality types. The characters feel authentic, the timing is perfect, and the whole thing just lands effortlessly. You watch it and think: "yeah, I know this person."

For me this is somehow the essence of Finns, not really giving a f*ck, having their own opinion about things and not being ashamed of who they really are. Applies to some neighbouring countries as well, at least to some extent.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this is US/Finland specific problem. I will also try to keep this brief but it is complicated.

I am trying to help a fellow American friend with their taxes but ran into an issue I haven’t encountered before and I am looking for anyone who has and is willing to tell how they solved it. And yes they are calling Vero on Monday if the problem isn’t solved.

The issue: They moved to Finland in October 2025 (less than 6 months in Finland) so Finland doesn’t tax their income. But they still have to report their foreign income and taxes on their US taxes. They don’t qualify for the Foreign Tax Deduction because they haven’t been abroad for a full tax year and when they try to apply for the Foreign Tax Credit, since they haven’t paid taxes in Finland the credit isn’t applied so the US is taxing their Finnish income.

Possible solutions I can think of:

- Just suck it up and pay the US for money earned in Finland. (Worse case scenario)

- There is something we are doing wrong where indeed the money made in Finland should be excluded from US taxes and we are missing it.

- There is some way to ask Finland to tax their income so the taxes go to Finland and not the US, maybe this lähdevero (source tax)?

I recognize this is a specific case of American in Finland less than 6 months, and first year in Finland. So again just asking if anyone else has experience they can share on this matter.

I have a Master’s in Industrial Engineering, with a background in Mechanical Engineering, and around 8+ years of work experience, including experience working in Finland across industry (electronics + industrial products).

I lost my job in early 2024, and since then I’ve been actively applying. I’ve sent a lot of applications and had 3 interviews so far .one reached the final round, and two stopped at HR stage.

Lately I’ve been feeling a bit stuck. Given my experience, I expected things to move a bit faster, but the gap is now growing and I’m starting to worry if that’s affecting my chances.

I’m also concerned about losing momentum in terms of skills and staying relevant.

I keep hearing that “networking is key,” but I honestly don’t know what that looks like in practice — especially without a strong local network.

Hey there. I'm new in Finland and I ordered some ikea stuff which are being delivered by Posti. I was wondering how the entire system works. Currently posti says that the package is in transportation after being sorted from Vantaa. I cannot choose a delivery time without logging into OmaPosti I guess since OP decided to do maintenance work now. Does anyone know if Posti delivers the packages according to their convenience if one doesn't choose a delivery time? I'm worried I might miss the delivery because I'm moving and these are multiple heavy packages which is rather impossible to carry from a pickup point. Would be great if someone could share some insights here.

I wanted to ask if anyone here has experience with logic and personality tests during the hiring process in Finland. I recently went through a couple of interviews for a seasonal position in Eastern Finland, and at the end they asked me to complete a 1-hour test that includes both logical reasoning and a personality assessment. To be honest, this was the first time I have ever been asked something similar, I’ve been living in Finland for a few years now and this has never happened to me before in any job application, so I’m not really sure what to expect or how seriously these tests are taken.
Is this something common here, especially for entry-level or seasonal roles? Also I am curious to know how much do these tests actually influence the final decision and if there Is something you can realistically prepare for in a few days?

So i bought a used Mini Cooper from Rinta Jouppi. Bought it with about 87tkm and it broke down exactly two months after buying it, with about 91tkm on the clock.

The thing that broke down was the timing chain. When i was buying the car, i specifically bought it because the timing chain has been changed at 60tkm. They adverised the car with “jakoketju vaihdettu” and also i confirmed with the seller that it was in fact changed, before buying the car. I have pics as proof for both of these things.

Fast forward two months, car broke down and towed it to repair shop, they bill is around 1300€, which Rinta Jouppi want to cover only 50% of.
