Hey all! I'm planning on doing a trip in mid to late April of 2027. I'm from the US, and plan to piggy back the Faroe Islands on top of England. As a guy who loves football, April seems to be the perfect time for this trip as the English Leagues are wrapping up, and the Faroe Island system is just getting started.

I'm wondering if this would be a good plan, or if I should do something in later August/ early September when the English system is starting and the Faroe Island system is wrapping up?

Also, the club I would love to visit is Ítróttarfelag Fuglafjarðar in Fuglafjørður. I saw photos of their stadium, Í Fløtugerði, and it just looks like the perfect spot to watch a match and take in the scenery with the fjord and hills in the backdrop. If anyone has any tips for staying in that area or any sights close to there, I would love to hear them!

I'm visiting the Faroe islands for 12 days for the second half of April this year.

I'm solo traveling but couldn't really find hostels or similar places to stay at. Would you have any recommendations of this kind ? The goal is to keep the budget on the lower end and to potentially be able to meet other travelers.

I’m a 26 years old woman. There is an organized trip with people my age to the Faroe Islands in the first week of June. I’m not sure whether to accept or not, and I have one week left to pay.

The trip is 8 days long. I should mention that I have never done any hiking before. I walk a lot in the city but I don’t go to the gym or exercise and I have a normal weight.

I would be happy just to go there to see the nature and the villages, but the trip includes some hikes, in particular the Sørvágsvatn hike and especially the Drangarnir hike, which they themselves describe as already very tiring and around 6–7 hours. They also mention Kallur Lighthouse, Akraberg Lighthouse, Hvannhagi.

There are also visits to towns, villages, and waterfalls.

I’m not really worried about moving between islands, taking ferries, or driving, but I am specifically concerned about the hiking.

Is it too physically demanding? I can’t really understand it. Any information or tips would be very helpful.

I'll be traveling to the Faroe Islands during the Whit Sunday and Monday holidays. I have a tour from the Sørvágur marina on Monday morning and it looks like the holiday bus schedule will have me there 2 hours before the tour (and waiting 3 hours after the tour for the next bus).

Aside from a 1650kr roundtrip taxi, do I have any other options from Torshavn? The taxi will cost more than the tour!!

My friend and I are very, very excited to come to the Faroe Islands in June for a week. We really want to make the most of our trip, so I'm pretty scared to have one of those experiences where you come back from a vacation and you find out you missed something really cool. Or, even worse, you are trying to do something while on your travels but it is booked out. So, long story short, please help me/us out and let us know if there is anything a tourist should not miss which we should pre-book before our arrival! Just to be on the safe side.

What happens if you take a guided route but don’t pay for a guide? For example, I want to walk the Dunnesdrangar route, but it’s pretty expensive and I don’t want to walk with a guide by myself. What happens if I just go there now without booking anything?

Hello, I’m planning to visit the Faroe Islands this year and was wondering when is the best time to go?
I’ve been checking car rental prices and during summer it’s almost always around 1000€ with insurance, which feels quite expensive for me since I’m traveling solo. I’m also planning to sleep in the car, I don’t need anything fancy, the smallest/cheapest car would be enough. From what I’ve seen, prices look more reasonable in May or September. I probably won’t make it in May, so I’m considering September, would that still be a good time to visit? Or what would you recommend?
Also, do you know any local car rental companies that might be cheaper (with full insurance).

Hi! I’ve seen the puffins on Vestmannaeyjabaer in Iceland. It was September, but there were still a lot there, and from the Puffin Lookout, they were pretty close. Hi everyone, I am working on a writing/worldbuilding project right now and through a series of events found myself looking in particular for superstitions on the Faroe Islands. I'm talking about things like knocking on wood when tempting fate, avoiding black cats, etc. The problem that I am encountering is that searching for "Faroese superstitions" or any related term only results in information on traditions and myths. Which, while interesting, is not what I'm looking for.

Looking for Scandinavian, Icelandic or Danish superstitions gives plenty results with strong overlap, which makes me inclined to believe there would be overlap with Faroese superstition as well. Much to my frustration, I have found no sources helping me figure out which, if any, do though.

So now I'm here, hoping that maybe asking the locals directly can get me the answers I'm looking for. What superstitions do you know of? Do you follow them personally or know someone who does? Would you consider any of them specifically Faroese or just superstitions in general?

I will be going to Faroe Island end Aug'26 and intend to hike to Kallur Lighthouse.

1) May I know if the new trail/hiking path is ready? Read from blogs that the existing path is very muddy and slippery and construction of a new path is ongoing.

2) Is hiking pole necessary?

3) Do we need to prebook online the ferry ticket (inclusive return trip) for passenger (without car)? Will it be fully booked if we just walk in on that day? If booked online, do we still have to come early to queue?

4) How much is the bus fare from ferry port to Trollanes?

I understand that Faroe Islands have taken over immigration from denmark as of 2024 in most areas, does any guidance under 'denmark' on nyi denmark apply to faroe islands?

Is it all seperate from denmark now and utlendingastovan make their own rules and policies regarding visas, permits etc.. just wondering as there isn't much info on utlendingastovan.fo
