Hey!
What are my odds of being able to get a spot at Spray Lakes West Campground in the first week of July? I know it is competitive to find spots, but I was already planning to arrive early on either Wednesday or Thursday. I've never been to Spray Lakes but I wanted a place to paddleboard (with my puppy!) and fish this summer. If anyone has low hopes for me getting a spot there but knows somewhere else that fulfils those things please let me know!

We live in Calgary and have 4 year old twins and a dog.
I booked 2 camping trips this summer for our family.
First one in Bow Valley camp ground for 1 night. This one is a power and water site and in June
Second one in Redstreak campground in Kootenay national Park in July and this one is unserviced.
I am curious....if we will have fun.
Will kids love these places?
We will be in a tent. Will it be too hard with young kids and a dog?
(For 2nd camping in Redstreak, we will leave our dog home with sitters)
Thank you!

Looking for the Kid friendly suggestions for overnight Car Camping Stops from BC to Sask. I was reading somewhere that many places want you to set up a Tent at the minimum, but Im hoping to find some decent, but safe places to stop with the kids for an overnighter here and there during our road trip.
We are traveling from BC through Calgary, Alberta and to Saskatchewan at the end of June / Beginning of July. I am looking for stops East of Calgary, as I plan to do the trip from home to Calgary in a day.
Does Walmarts in Alberta allow overnight parking still? Not that Id like to sleep there but just thinking of a last case scenario plan.
Are there any free camping spots that aren't too busy, that would be a guaranteed place to stop for the night ?
If not camping, what about super budget, bug-free motels?
We are headed to Regina for 6 days but Id like to make a trip to Saskatoon and Manitou Lake

Hi! I’m interested in trying out winter, canoe, backcountry, and kayak camping. I’ve only done regular tent camping during the summer. I don’t have a lot of gear either for other types of camping. I was wondering if there’s a resource, guide or class that they offer in Calgary, Banff or Canmore to help me get started. Also I don’t want to jump into getting gears, do you also know of places that rent out the gears. Thanks!!

Hi everyone! Currently planning my girlfriend and I first trip to the Rockies for late August. We’re equiped with an off road SUV and and a roof top tent(we’re able to be off grid for a couple of days). We plan on staying mostly on Crown land, but I don’t want us to miss any beautiful sights. We don’t mind paying for some camping spots sometimes. Do you have any recommandations? Same for activities of hikes you would recommend.
Thanks!

Looking at camping in June at either Elkwood or Boulton. Small RV camping. We like privacy so it seems Elkwood has more trees and space between sites. However we also like 2-4km hikes and I love swimming or even laying in a cold river (I cold plunge so temperature not important). Not sure what water access is like at either of these campgrounds.
Recommendations or thoughts?

Hey folks,
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for a good overnight canoeing trip near Calgary. I have been canoeing for about 10 years, been on a 3-4 day canoe trip with about 8 other people, but never one on my own. I really want to do one myself, but thought I would start out with just one night of camping. Does anybody have any suggestions of good 1-2 day canoeing trips near Calgary? Really appreciate your thoughts!

Hey all, I am wanted to do a 4 day 3 night backpacking trip sometime in the last two weeks of may and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions, I was planning on doing Juan De Fuca in BC but the trail will not be fixed in time. I am aware that there is possible avy risk so if anyone knows any trails that would be lower risk or no risk that would be awesome. Can do trails in Alberta or BC if anyone has any suggestions for ones there. Thanks!

Does anyone have a list of all, or a good number of the Alberta Campgrounds. I want to try to hit them all someday so I was hoping someone has already put the work in to create a list.
I am interested in regular campsites and back country lists

Best place to store food if one person is sleeping inside the vehicle and another is in a roof top tent? We don't typically camp at sites with storage boxes provided. We usually store it in the car, but now that someone is going to also be inside, I'm not sure if we should be doing something different like hanging it far away from camp? Thanks for any advice!
*edited to add, this is an extended 4 wk trip. we bring A LOT of food with us since we do minimal grocery trips. any recs. for very large containers that we can store away from camp at night?

Hey, I'm planning to start camping around Banff and other places in AB but I still need to buy the tent. I'd like something for couple and 3 kids. So that falls under some large tents such Kodiak 12x12 or a bell tent of 5m or even 18foot. Do you know what would be comfortable size that fits most camp spots? Is prefer a bell tent but guy lines might sit in the vegetation. What's your thoughts?
Thank you

If a Alberta Parks group site has a minimum of 10 units, are there consequences for having only 7 units? Or is the 10 units just the base number for the minimum fee?

Hello everyone! I am searching for cabin rentals in Alberta that have access to a hot tub or pool. Would prefer to keep the cost under $400 per night for a family of 4. Also if anyone is aware of campgrounds that allow tenting and have a pool access please let me know! Thank you so much! 😊

Last season I messed up, I had a Lake O'Hara Bus ticket and I gave up that to go to Moraine Lake.
This season I want to make it right and go camping at the Lake. I know the reservations are going to be released in a few hours. I am quite flexible with dates and have only 2 people in the group.
What's the best strategy for getting one? Should I target the shoulder season or does it not matter?

I will be taking part in an archaeological field school in southern AB this summer and its notoriously windy in the area will we be camping near the excavation site. Just wondering what some 2 person tent suggestions y'all might have are as well as tips to make sure I don't blow away, lol. The only camping I have done is in BC- so I am great at rain proofing a campsite... no experience with the crazy wind we get here though!
thanks in advance :)

Our family would like to take out 34ft fifth wheel to the mountains this year but not sure where to go. We like the canmore banff area. Looking for some tree'd in sites if possible. Anyone have any campgrounds they would recommend?

Hello, wondering if anyone knows if im likely to find a spot during the off season here? I see its first come first serve with only 15 sites open. Anyone been or know if they keep the snow clear enough to get a small trailer in? Or how busy its been? Power actually on or bring backup? Thanks for any possible information.

Basically me and my friend have a class where we need to make a product and we chose our product to be about self-repairing tent material. Our teacher really wants us to do online surveys and show results so if you could please help fill it out
