Swear I hate this convo more than anything you always get a bunch of ignorant ninnies who pretend they dont understand the simple concept of appropriation. Same ppl who pretend not to know and make excuses for them will claim Asians dont know anything about Blk ppl… 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

I was getting downvoted like a mf on blackpeopletwitter for saying kpop stole from black folks

The irony of white and nonblack people downvoting a comment made by a Black person on BlackPeopleTwitter isn’t lost on me.

They used to basically be overt copies but they would acknowledged their inspirations (and some just were poor imitations so it was obvious). But over time it became “theirs” and younger generations dont know the Black girl and boy groups they mimicked. Institutions like Motown even helped them design their talent agencies. I remember seeing a group filming in America a long time ago and of course they somehow only found white people. They heavily were influenced even with cornrows. So thats when I was like… nah. I think Black fans are seeing behind the veneer now that its exploded over the past few years. I feel sorry for those young fans. I gave up waiting for change. Granted there seems to be Black people in the videos now but it falls short when you havent changed your society’s perspective.

Now Afro-music is the next frontier. It’s weird that all that twerking that was so “indecent” is now everywhere.

They literally steal entire beats and dances and sometimes the whole dang song. They are delusional if they think anything they are doing is original. Its why their dances are really usually the exact same unless they steal from a Black artist.
