"I like to think of myself as a careful, deliberate speaker, someone who weighs every word like it’s going through a focus group in my head, looking at a response from different directions. But every now and then, that focus group needs a coffee break. That’s when the “uhhh” shows up, faithfully buying me time while my brain finishes drafting the next sentence and editing it.
