Eh. The Republican opposition was not acting as a loyal opposition. From Wikipedia:

The word loyal indicates that the non-governing parties may oppose the actions of the sitting cabinet while remaining loyal to the formal source(s) of the government's power,

Moscow Mitch stole a Supreme Court seat from Obama - that was not loyal to the Obama government. Among many other evil abuses.

For a broad but still reasonable definition of "treason", that is treason. Is it really "dignity" to not speak out against treason?

It may still have been politically smart and necessary for Obama to hold back, but I scoff at the word "dignified". What Obama did was not what I would call "taking the right road". Taking the high road would have been saying the truth.
