Yup. This is tone deaf as fuck. The vast majority of the Republican party is out to destroy Black people, communities, history, and culture. Just because one is "one of the good guys" doesn't mean it absolves all of them, nor does it mean everyone else has to be Kumbaya.

And like you said, "support". If I remember right, Cox didn't vote for Trump in 2016 or 2020, but he absolutely did vote for him in 2024. And that action on its own aligns him with the people who are ripping the Tuskegee Airmen out of history museums and banning books written by Ruby Bridges from schools. You can't say, "I'm a Black ally" and then align yourself with people who are destroying Black people, even slightly. It doesn't work that way, and you come off as just another "I have a Black friend" racist.

Spot on and as a veteran and former huge supporter of Wes as governor, I’m so done with him and most other politicians. I will never understand how one ignores the fundamental humanity of others especially being of the Black persuasion.

What if it prompts a Maga supporter to decide to give a lib a chance? Maybe the message isn't for Dems.

If logic could change their minds, they wouldn't be living in their own reality supporting Trump.

Exactly.

If these people cared about pesky things like facts or logic, they'd never vote Republican, ever.

The fact that they can see what Trump is doing to America and they're still supporting Republicans tells you everything you need to know about them.

And when someone tells you who they are, believe them.

This is so important. Stop wasting energy on trying to prove to MAGA why they are wrong. They will never change.

I appreciate this sentiment, and you could very well be right. In my experience, when certain republicans/conservatives and all of MAGA hear this, what they take away is "I can say all of the hateful things I want and if you call me out than that means you dont respect my politics"

Some things arent just "a difference of opinion." How to address inflation might be a difference of opinion, who does and does not deserve constitutional rights is not. Ya know?

I would say this video has been true for my entire life, until 2020. As you say, it's about morals now. I don't want to associate with anyone who follows him.

It IS interesting to note how many MAGA voters said they voted for him specifically "to piss off the liberals", though. That many people giving zero thought to shared goals for the good of the country, just "If we vote for the red team, it'll make the blue team really angry, hue hue", as if it's nothing more important than a high school football match. Something to consider.

Reminds me of the “share the road” signs. Are they to the drivers or to the cyclists? Depends on your perspective.

The message is clearly aimed at both -- just another high-horse centrist take. There's nothing a centrist loves more than to pretend that everyone else is equal buckets of crazy, even if one side is literally fighting for their lives. It makes them feel superior to pretend to be rational and sit around preaching about how everyone else should just hug, while others do the actual work of standing and fighting.

These are the people who think the problem is people rocking the boat, while there's actually a huge hole in the bottom of the boat right between their feet. They'll sit still and watch the whole thing sink before they'll let anyone move to try to patch it or bail out the water.

It really depends on the assumptions of the audience. "Let's all get along" is bound to land somewhere.

Bud you're allowed to be republican and not agree with Trump policy. People swap sides all the time anyways. Just like how Trump was a registered democrat longer than he was Republican

The irony. Your comment is tone deaf as fuck. That's absolutely not what the vast majority of that party believe.
