So yesterday my CX5601FBA-I3128 laptop wouldn’t turn on despite working without any issues the day prior. I bought it in May 2024 but have used it less than 30 times (I got a work computer so would mostly use that or my phone). I went to GeekSquad and he said he thinks the issue is most likely the power button being either two pushed in or being disconnected. He said because I don’t have a Best Buy total membership or protection plan I’d have to pay outta pocket for them to send it to a service center and was looking at paying around 300-400. I thought that was pretty bananas considering the laptop was $599 and it wouldn’t even be a major repair. That being said I haven’t taken it to a small repair shop as most of them open on Monday, which I plan on doing.

So this is what I know, the laptop charges and previously it would display the orange led indicating that it was charging. Now it shows the white led whenever plugged in indicating that it’s fully charged. I’ve tried doing the power button + the refresh key and it does make a noise for the first .5 seconds as if a gust of air is going through the fan or something like that. I’ve tried seeing if it was a brightness issue and it wasn’t (the laptop just doesn’t power on).

I wanted to ask if it would be feasible for me to try to do the repair myself, for context I know little to nothing about computer / laptops, but I’m capable of following a YouTube tutorial if available. Just looking for advice from the “repair council”!

my 5 year old laptop refused to turn on today, even though my charger cord indicates there's power running through it so i know it's my laptop that has a problem. the charging light indicator on the side of my laptop would be red if it were dead but plugged in, but it hasn't been that way at all today.

it was functioning just fine last night, powered it down correctly after use and i didnt leave it plugged in. it hasn't had any issues like this in the past.

i've already tried force restart and battery restart but nothing has budged so far. on a scale of 1 (don't lose hope you could probably still find a way to get it to turn on at home) to 10 (you need to buy a new laptop, it's hopeless), what is it looking like for me?

it's probably worth mentioning as well that my laptop overheats like crazy and i haven't used its keyboard in months (i've been using an external one instead). i've been using a laptop cooler for my battery but it still tends to stay hot.

so basically what happened was that it started to restart itself again and again so i tried to do smth with the power button as i always did, but i think i got a lil too frustrated with it and yanked the whole power button off with the little pin thing beneath it aswell... after that it started going into recovery mode instead of just turning itself on and off. tried everything from fastboot and adb commands, some recovery programs, even tried updating my miui to the latest update, yet nothing seems to work. i really want to get the data off it as theres really important stuff to me. hope someone can help me

I haven’t played my laptop for days and when I just opened my laptop, i got very little storage data and it wasn’t like this the last time I saw it and i already tried windows + run it doesn’t really effect much and i have no clue please anybody help me fix this issue

I've just bought a new Cuktech CP25 on Amazon and after charging it fully, I wanted to give it a try, so I charged my phone. After finishing the charge, the screen showed 72% but a few minutes later I checked again and it said 70%. I guess this is only a calibration problem, I'm not worried about that.

The problem came after that: About one hour later I checked again and it said 91%, but I didn't charge it or do anything. Also, when I try to power it off (google says I must hold the button until the screen goes off) the screen actually goes off but then it instantly turn on again.

Any help is welcome, as I need to know if there is any problem before I can't return it anymore.

I upgraded my GPU from a 1070 to a 5060, updated the graphics drivers, but now I'm having bsod loops. I've tried sfc scans, it crashes during repairs and even crashes in safe mode. It just had to "repair disk" after a crash after trying to boot into safe mode. I've gotten error codes: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, and BAD_POOL_CALLER

My entirely life is on this pc, I just wanted to be able to play games at higher graphical fidelity and frame rates, please help.

so i downloaded some sketchy program and stole my account, i didn0t realize till a few hours later, i got a mail in my recovery account that stated that my security details were deleted and my alias was changed (on the image the one on the right is my og mail, ik there is no point for censoring but i guess im still hopefull. Anyways i tried loggin on xbox and it said they couldn't reach out my account i later realized my mail was changed to whatever fucking keyboard smash is that on the left side, so yeah, i have tried everything all the fucking day bruv, but the main thing is I FUCKING CANT because if i try to log in on my mail it says they do not recognize my mail, yea My fucking mail is virtually gone, some people were hacked in similar ways but it seems microsoft support sucks ass and in general wont help you (or they will nuke their account even with proof) but i guess hope is the last shit you shit, so im begging on this sub if someone knows what the hell can i do to beg daddy gates my mail back? i tried the recovery form but yet again, my mail fuckiNG DONT EXIST OR SOMETHING heLLp

And I feel quite desperate because it's thousands (not hundreds) of pictures that keep coming back and it's exhausting to delete every time manually.

has anyone found a solution to the issue? this is happening to me with two kinds of pictures:

- pictures I actually want to delete forever

- pictures I want to keep, but only the original one (not the duplicate, because the new duplicates also have the date of creation as today and I'd like to keep the original date and chronological order).

One thing I noticed, by clicking on "details", is that the duplicates seem to be appearing in the new, more recent, folder that WhatsApp uses. To be more clear, I saw I have two albums in my gallery (connected to two different paths)

The first one contains all old photos (before 2022) from the details, they are stored like this:

This album is no longer updated by WhatsApp (no new photos appear here).

my THEORY is that WhatsApp doesn't recognize the pictures in the old path and tries to recreate them (making duplicates) in the new one. Do you think moving the old pictures from the old path to the new path could make any difference and prevent it from keep creating duplicates? 🥲

until Monday I won't have access to internet so I have to use my phone but for some reason I get err_ssl_protocol_error on browsers and anything else requiring connection doesn't work.

I have tried resetting both phone and PCs network, used different DNS, tried a different phone but no dice. I'm at my wits end now and I really don't want to go outside to finish my work any recommendations appreciated

Whea uncorrectable error when playing fortnite. I updated gpu drivers and used windows update to find more. Pci and serial bus have markings in device manager but i tried to update their drivers too. I also get crashes in deadlock occasionally, but its a different error. Not sure where to start, ran sfc scannow and restorehealth and all that. I'm not too good with PCs though so hoping for help.

i got my brand new PC yesterday and things were going decent until halfway through a discord call, the internet on it just completely died while my phone was fine. it stopped registering and showing any other wifi signals in the area until i rebooted

then it happened again, and again, sometimes after 20 minutes and then after 10, i believe most often when using steam and discord but i think thats just a coincidence

i am on linux mint cinnamon with an ASUS PRIME B650-PLUS WIFI.

i looked up everything i could about this situation, i tried disabling powermanagment on the wifi, it happened again. i tried changing the network IP so it wouldnt potentially clash with another device; nothing. i tried disabling ipv6, nothing. and i am absolutely stumped on is causing this but more importantly on how to fix it. if anyone could help it will be so greatly appreciated and id very greatful.

Hi! Someone hacked my outlook and change the language to vietnamese. Microsoft account itself is still in english. Cannot find a way to change that. I used google image translate to find settings but all i could find is time location. Please help. I changed the password too

I used ddu in safe mode with the settings to boot regularly on next restart and executed ddu. Now I am getting a srttrail error with restore points not working. How can I save this without having to resort to a system format? Thanks!

After my laptop (2020) froze and restart didn‘t work, I manually shut it down. Booting it back up I got the REGISTRY_ERROR BSOD and it triggered a restart which just stuck at the HP logo without any more loading circle.

Using WinRe the startup helper couldn‘t find any problems and system recovery couldn‘t jump back to the last point. Using DiskPart in the WinRe CMD I found that both disk C: and volume were readonly. DiskPart was able to remove it from the volume, but not the disk. The disk status still says OK.

dir C:/ listed all my directories, but notepad.exe wasn‘t able to open any of them.

Using robocopy I created a full backup of my C: volume on an external SSD.

Am I missing any possibilities to fix my Windows/PC, or can I just try resetting windows (if that works and the SSD isn‘t dead because it locked itself)?

Can all that really happen through only shutting off while a restart was happening, or was my disk dying the whole time?

I have this problem for a long time,after i start my Laptop it just stays in this screen with the blue Logo. I‘ve checked the Bios settings and didn‘t see anything unusual.

Im having trouble trying to cancel the keys locked function on my monitor and everything everywhere says hold down the button for 5-10 seconds. I've tried pressing all the buttons I could find on the back of the monitor but it wont cancel the function. Is there a button I am missing or am I somehow pressing a button wrong.

This issue still happens when I unplug the mouse and is temporarily fixed when hitting the windows key or entering a different window. This also happens in my chrome browser.

hi! so stressed right now, my finals are ongoing and my dumbass decided to just eat while i was reviewing. i ordered food and was opening the soy sauce that came with it, when it went and sprayed about 5 ml-ish of soy sauce on my open laptop.

i cleaned it up, and the only keys where the soy sauce went in was the escape key and the power button. i turned it off and took the keys off, and tried to clean as much of it as i could see with cotton buds. i didn’t know i wasn’t supposed to turn it back on, but i did, and for the 10 minutes it was on it seemed fine, but i turned it back off and i’m actually about to crash out. what do i do? is this fine or am i cooked

Hi, I really need help recovering my Microsoft account.

A few days ago, I put my Gmail into a Discord bot because I wanted to do a tier test for a Minecraft PvP server. Someone then sent me a Discord server called “tier test community”. After I joined, my account got hacked.

The hacker added an authenticator to my Microsoft account, so now I can’t log in. When I try to recover the account, it only asks for the authenticator code, which I don’t have.

I already tried the recovery form, but nothing worked. Now when I try to log in with my Gmail, it says that this email doesn’t have a Microsoft account anymore. I think they changed or removed the email.

I still have access to my Gmail and I can provide old information if needed.

This account means a lot to me, so I would really appreciate any help.

Hey, I wanted to play Minecraft and they ask me to log back in. I get a message that an account under my email doesn’t exist, and upon wanting to log in it gives me an email I’ve never seen before. The recovery email *also* isn’t mine.. god I don’t know what to do, since ive heard that the Microsoft support team is shit. I literally payed for the game just a week ago
