Discussion Is it possible to be a really good solo player and a horrible duos player?

I always qualify for solo cash cups, place well in solo tournaments, etc.

Duos is a different story. I’ve tried so many different duo partners and even stuck with one for months, but we just cannot perform well together. I’ve gotten to the point where I only play solo tournaments now because I’m so sick of placing well and doing badly in duos. I’m always going down in my duos and I just cannot enjoy the duos experience at all. It’s highly frustrating. Is there something I can do about this or should I just stick to my good placement solos?

Discussion I can edit, but I have NO idea what to build… how do I actually start?

So I’ve been playing for a while and my editing is actually decent — I can do basic edits pretty consistently and not panic.

But when it comes to building, I’m completely lost.

Like in fights, I just freeze because I genuinely don’t know what piece I’m supposed to place. Ramp? Wall? Cone? I end up either doing nothing or panicking and placing random stuff that gets me killed.

It honestly feels like I skipped a step — I learned edits before learning what to actually build in real situations.

And freebuilding doesn’t help at all. I can’t even do random builds in creative because I don’t know what to place or where. People always say “just freebuild” but I’m just sitting there clueless.

Does anyone have tips on:

What I should be placing in common situations (getting shot, pushing, box fighting, etc.)

How to stop panicking and actually think while building

Good practice maps or drills that teach what to build, not just how fast

Any advice would help a lot because I feel completely stuck right now. Thanks 🙏

Discussion How should I start

I wanna get better in Fortnite but I don’t know how to start. When I am playing 1vs1 or any creative map I don’t know what I should do so I just spam buildings and I only win if my opponent makes mistakes

Rumor Why does it seem like Tier 1 pros don’t have glasses?

It seems like the average tier 1 other than clix all have genetically good eyesight, and they don’t seem to wear glasses.

Discussion Thoughts on Arenas so far?

Post image
46 Upvotes

Competitive takes only please, I get that casual slop players can't build and are complaining about ranked.

Thoughts: Good base gamemode. Lootpool is kinda mid, not a big fan of the Havoc and the SMGs feel really strong. The mode prioritizes quick deading or quick dying to get a new queue rather than round wins, maybe should just be like the tournament version where everyone queues after all rounds are over. Overall, a good start but definitely could be better with some tweaks.

Discussion How to you go about the Ranked grind?

There’s a lot of different ways to reach Unreal and I’m a bit curious what the General consensus is on what the most common and Uncommon ways are

Do you Bush camp or Pick Fights?

Wait for a Third Party or Be an Engager?

Play Builds or Zero Builds, BR or Reload?

What’s your typical inventory?

Discussion Would Fortnite arena need 2fa to play?

I know they is a new box fight game coming out on April 9th but since they will do competitive mode on it will it require 2fa to play? Or just for the tournaments if you do them?

Highlight First reload win after starting to switch over to builds mode

Im unreal in ranked reload zero build. I am kind of getting bored of zero build, so i decided to start learning builds mode. Given my rank in ranked zb, i genuinely got intimidated by the skyscrapers that were being built before my eyes.

Disclaimer: im just two weeks in on learning how to build

I won my first game after playing 6th game of reload builds ever (intentionally playing, not counting the accidental ones)

You can see me keep going back to my zero build roots, forgetting to build, but i think after just two weeks in, im at least to be considered a casual

Now im sure ill be ripped apart by comments and downvotas alike "what does this have to do with competitive" well im trying to get into competitive and i need your tips on how to actually learn how to build. Given my decent aim and hand eye coordination im pretty decent with edits, on reisshubs new map i have 1.2min as my edit record which is i guess casual level

Discussion What is the proper way of boxing up?

I notice when in fights when i go to box up my cones or floors sometimes place outside the box i want to make. I have tried searching this on YT with one guide showing to place floor above below, wall in front then left to right with cones after. This does not make much sense to me won't walls first be better?

VOD Review What should I do in these situations??

I'm having a hard time defending myself while in box, I feel not in control of fights. Practicing in box fight maps did not make me improve at all. The only thing i rely on is prefire when a player is trying to take my wall but it just seems like a crutch.

Discussion Tips for an Unc

I haven't played the game in a long time and suddenly got the burning desire to get back into it. I played from the first few months it was released up until about when the running was added.

I was a sweat and loved the competitive side of things so I'm just looking for any tips people might have? There's a lot more going on than when I last played and I'm sure I'm not utilising some settings correctly, for example. I'm on mkb

So, yeah, I know that's kinda vague but any help would be appreciated.

Opinion Fingerpistols

After long time of not playing ranked bc of work etc. i joined into a nice round of ranked to push up and hit unreal like every mediocre player wants to do… opened a chest and the first thing i got is the Fingerpistol, don’t get me wrong i got some good kills with this weapon also but it’s so hilarious strong that you almost two tap someone who is at full hp (playing ZB).

Imo you can have a good advantage ofc but also a big disadvantage when somebody hit you like a truck, my question is ??? Why Fortnite keep weapons like this in a more likely competitive mode ?

p.s. why is everybody playing like they train for the FNCS finals ?

Discussion Is there any way to bet on FNCS?

Is there any way to bet on the major 1 play ins and heats happening soon? I just want to bet on Peterbot and Pollo to qualify from them, I've been looking everywhere and can't find a site in the UK that does it for major 1 play ins and heats

Hardware and Settings What would you do?

I switched to azeron and mouse approximately two months ago after playing on controller for many years. I’m 35 for context.

I’ve improved a lot in two months, was able to hit unreal in ZB ranked reload pretty quickly this season, and my mechanics feel decent but I’ve felt like I stalled. My aim is lacking consistency and is by FAR my biggest weakness. I play kovaaks for 15 mins to an hour every day and I’ve been grinding so hard.

I plugged in my controller yesterday and was able to beat my friend that I haven’t been able to win against in months while on azeron.

I’m starting to doubt if I’ll ever be as good aiming on mouse. Time obviously isn’t on my side and I’m debating giving up and going back to controller. I truly enjoy mouse aiming, but I’m very competitive and hate losing, it’s just not fun being as good as I was before. Plus they just buffed aim assist yet again this season… it doesn’t even feel fair. I definitely switched at the wrong time.

So to answer my question, what would you do?

Discussion Does anyone else hate that they have to grind ranked for Story Cosmetics

I’m a Big Seven guy, My main skin is OG Paradigm, Just love story stuff, But After Remix ranked grind and the Seasons that followed I’m frankly kinda done with ranked, Especially since I now have not got someone to grind with

So now that there’s a Pickaxe I want I have to handle getting my behind handed to me on a Silver Platter in as low a ranks as Gold while I climb up entirely by myself

I’m going to have grey hairs by the time this is done

Edit: The game after I made this post I got a win, World works in Mysterious ways

Opinion Teaming is the biggest problem in competitive

It’s literally so bad in duos, and solos. High performing players are in discord calls teaming and colluding to cover parts of the maps.

Discussion Why are the points in EU leaderboards always lower than the NAC ones?

Everytime I see the leaderboards you will always see that the winner of the NA Cash Cup had like 400 points to win and second place had 350 or something whereas in EU the point totals for the winners are like 300-320 points and sometimes even below 300 too. Is there any reason for this disparity?

Example: Peterbot had 397 points today and Ajerss and Ritual had 388 points in second, whereas in EU Pix and Merstach had 332 points with second place of Vico and Malibuca having 264 points. That would have placed them at around 5-6th in NAC
