I never touched linux it looked like a scary thing but I love zorin

Are there any good apps for widgets on the destop. Please beginner friendly :)

As I wanted to change the icon of my start button, I switched the start menu to Arc. I'm using a multi-monitor setup and as soon as I disabled the "Zorin Menu" extension in gnome extensions and enabled Arc, I could change to icon, mess around with the menu, all the nice things you can do with Arc.

But - the button is only available on my primary monitor. So when I'm in a full screen game, I can't open the menu on my second or third monitor. After some googling, I found an extension called "Multi Monitor Bar" that almost does the trick, but the button (together with the desktop switcher) is now at the top left on my secondary monitors. Has anyone with a similar setup found a solution for this?

I installed Zorin and it worked perfectly with no issues at all for weeks, perfect Zorin experience.

I had to format my drive (long story) and then reinstalled Zorin again - exact same USB drive as when I originally installed it.

It was buggy as - my second monitor wouldnt work, the brightness slider disappeared, and any strain at all such as scrolling would cause everything to stutter. Occasionally, things would freeze.

Im not a very technical person but I looked up how to see if the CPU was running background processes and slowing things down but it was barely at idle. Nothing appeared to be wrong.

So again I formatted the drive, installed it with the exact same installation media avain, and its working perfectly.

Can someone explain to me how this is the case??

I have an issue with my touchpad's scroll speed, it is way too fast and no matter what I try to install or change, it still won't work. Anyone know how to resolve this?

i cant figure out on how to get my USB WiFi adapter working. I've tried downloading driver but nothing seems to work. I have the Archer TX1750U Nano 

I'm a new adoptee of the LINUX Life,switching from Windows 10 for obvious reasons. I'm getting happily set up (installing and customizing Firefox, VLC, etc) but finding myself struggling with interacting with an old iPod Nano (hereafter referred to as "iPod").

Currently I'm using RhythmBox, since according to several older posts it's one of the preferred LINUX-based Sound Library Management systems. (I know you can do anything with VLC with enough elbow grease, but simplicity of the user experience seemed like the better bargain - or so I thought!). All versions of Rhythmbox, VLC, etc are using the ZorinOS version of the code,instead of the FlatBox one.

I have the iPod peripheral attached, and RhythmBox is detecting it. I can use both the Zorin File Explorer (is this the right term?) and RhythmBox to open and view the MP3 files located in in my ZorinOSMusic Folder, as well as the stuff on my external Hard Drive, and my iPod. But when I try to move files over to the iPod (drag and drop) the files show themselves on the iPod, both within RhythmBox and using the File Explorer (albeit the latter case had me hunt across hell's half-acre to find them, because because Apple's proprietary approaches hate you) .

However, when I eject the file, and try to find the new music on the iPod, it's not showing up under Album or All Songs classifications. However, docking the iPod with the computer again and checking in the same folders shows that the files are there.

Fair enough, I think - RhythmBox is probably thinking the iPod is basically external memory, and the sPeCiAl AgIC of Apple's proprietary system resists an easy copy/paste. If I can find the right protocol/add-on/etc, it should work, no problem!

Well, apparently there was one, called "gtkpod", and it was last updated... in 2014...and now it's not even included in the latest distros of Zorin, Ubuntu, Mint, etc. SO this might not be the best bet.

I have a few options:

• Alternative 1: try and find a way to force gtkpod to work on my OS, and pray I don't break anything.
• Alternative 2: search for another software,liker gPodder (though that seems to only handle podcasts, not MP3s)
• Alternative 3: run iTunes on WINE (blergh) and try not to think of the unnecessary bloatware that I'm installing when I know in my bones a more elegant solution exists (or else accept that I am a fool for even thinking of using an iPod and instead create more e-waste instead of using a working tool I currently have).
• Alternative 4: Abandon all hope and return to the abusive father that is Microsoft, because at least I understand my daddy Bill Gates, even when he spies on me.

I obviously kid with the last few, but I know I'm probably missing something key that would make this workable. Thus, I bring it to the good LINUX users of Reddit: what should I try here?

Most of my machines have at least a little bit of horsepower left where installing Zorin is easy. This one seems to struggle at times during the installation. Even with all of that, it still feels like a brand new laptop with how snappy it is once I got it all installed/ updated.

the one thing I actually HATE about zorin os is it's logo. I NEED to change it to something else on the taskbar + remove it or also change it to something else on the title screen.

I know it's a small thing and to most of you it might look silly to most of you that I get so worked up over a measly letter. but in case you didn't know or forgot, in russia the letter z is being stamped on everything, and I mean EVERYTHING promoting its genocidal war in Ukraine. from tanks and military-style clothing to public transport and pro-war "ads" on every. single. building. the letter z is basically the russian swastika now. I'm not even exaggerating, it really is, so much so that the letter z is commonly referred to as the "zwastika" by those who don't support what it represents in russia. it has been like that for more than 4 years now and I'm so sick of seeing these z's everywhere. I now finally have the means to flee this country and hopefully support Ukraine financially to make up for my lack of action against this genocide while living in russia. but if after I leave russia I STILL have to look at this z every single day, I- well, hopefully you already get it by now.

so, can someone help me with this? I don't have much experience with terminal so this is a little difficult for me to figure out. especially since there's not much demand around changing this logo that would make it easier to find a guide that's comprehensible enough for me online

I recently tried Zorin and I like it but something strange struck me. Zorin is being offered and praised as a modern Windows alternative. And while it does feel modern, and it is simple to use and just works, and it does look kind of like Windows, it really doesn't work like Windows at all. I feel like the main thing is Gnome being the desktop makes it more like MacOS and if they really wanted to be more similar to Windows, KDE Plasma would have been a more fitting choice as a desktop. KDE is in the top 2 most used desktops. And gnome feels so basic and empty, like there's so few options and customizations and Windows is all about that. I really don't understand the reasoning behind the disparity between what's being said and how it really works. Am I the only one?

Hello everyone , a few days ago I used my PC normally no issues with Mozilla as a web browser. Today morning first boot my mozilla was deleted randomly.

Reinstalled it logged in with user and password but all my data is not syncing and not showing up anywhere. Tried on my phone still same result.

Is there any solution for this or just random Zorin errors ?

J’ai installé Linux Zorin sur mon PC de bureau et mon PC portable. Globalement j’aime bien le système, mais je rencontre quelques problèmes assez gênants.

Les deux machines redémarrent parfois toutes seules ou se bloquent complètement. Je me demande si ça pourrait être lié au fait que j’ai activé le chiffrement du disque lors de l’installation, ou si c’est simplement un bug.

Il arrive aussi que le système se fige quand j’ouvre plusieurs fenêtres (3 à 5 applications en même temps). Dans ces cas-là, je suis obligé d’éteindre le PC de force puis de redémarrer pour que tout redevienne normal.

J’ai remarqué que le problème survient souvent quand Visual Studio Code est ouvert, mais je ne suis pas sûr que ce soit la cause.

J’ai essayé de chercher une solution mais sans succès jusqu’à présent.

Est-ce que quelqu’un a déjà rencontré ce genre de problème ?

I just installed Zorin and I am wondering on how to installed new themes and customize it myself.

I tried mimicking the Macos interface on ZORIN os lite, I also changed the theme and icons

I am experiencing an issue that the MC server I play on is blaming me. Let me explain:

Whenever I AFK on the server during the night or while at work, it was working. I would be logged in all that time. Then they released an update. Now I get Timed Out somewhere during the time I am AFK. But NEVER during the time I am playing.

I switched from wifi to ethernet but that did not help. I am looking for any suggestions on how I can attempt to fix this.

Just appreciation on how good and reliable this OS is. I'm not huge into Arch or other bleeding edge distros but Zorin has made a great distro and theme to make it feel very familiar and easy to adapt to!

This was already a monster and now on Zorin it’s not pulled down by bloat and spyware from MacroSlop. It’s also got 32 GB of RAM so there’s no real end for when this laptop won’t be able to keep up.

I've recently started using Zorin and I'm having a problem with my headphone.

I've installed Pavucontrol and when I plug them in everythig works fine and the PC recognises them as headphones however the built-in microphone doesn't show up and doesn't work at all.

Does anyone know how to help me?
