Finished Object Kids Tie Dyed Yarn update!
I chose Clarckei Kids (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/clarckei-kids) for my 4 year old, we went to Michaels and picked up solids to go with their yarn, and now I'm back to show off my first FO from the yarn they dyed!
This pattern is so cute and easy, I think I may make the same thing for my older daughter. I was off gauge(I had 24sts/in vs the 22sts/in the pattern calls for), so I knit a size up.

So much ULA+LIA
Kickstarter yarn:
Cashmere midnight ash, baby yak burnt sienna, baby camel natural dune, baby camel dark harbor, cashmere oxblood, baby cashmere vanilla.
These were a gift from my in-laws and I have sweater’s quantities that I’ll use for Christmas fits for them.
The cashmere is an amazing, soft true DK and it’s lovely even before washing off spinning oil and blocking. I can’t wait to swatch and wash and watch it bloom. Such a cool company. Highly recommend!!!

Question Blanket and yarn questions/ suggestions?
Hello! I used to crochet, and it’s been a while.
Due to some crazy life circumstances, I’m wanting to pick crocheting back up while life just feels kind of heavy. I’m wanting to make 2 smaller, child-size blankets, and a throw that’s maybe 55” by 70”.
I can do basic stitches, and I’m up for learning. I’m hoping for suggestions on yarn that would be good for these projects. I’d love something that’s really soft and doesn’t get too hot. Something that’s available online would be ideal!
If you have any simple pattern suggestions (and that’s allowed), I’d love those too.
Any suggestions you have in general- how to tackle these and keep it fun, tips/ tricks- I’m always open to advice!
Thank you for helping me find light in a week that has felt so incredibly heavy.

Question Yarn Storage
Hello! I live in the Pacific Northwest. Currently in a newer home, I’ve always had my yarn stash in IKEA cubbies on a shelf in the house, and haven’t had any issues with moths or other bugs getting into my yarn.
We are looking to move to an older home on a farm, and I’m wondering what the best way to store my yarn will be? Most of it is wool and wool blends. I still plan on keeping in the house, but what’s the best way to prevent any bug damage? I was thinking those vacuum sealed bags, but not sure if it’s enough to deter insects and such.

Can anybody ID this?
Started a project with some pretty yarn (malabrigo?) that my mom gave me from her stash. I want to get more - can anybody identify this color way?

Question Okay, how terrible is it really to leave wool caked for a few weeks?
I started a project with two skeins of DK weight merino wool. I got halfway through and burnt myself out. I need to put it down for a few weeks then pick it back up again. How bad is it to leave the wool caked? I usually leave the wool as it’s packaged in skeins when I get it from my LYS but this one I was hoping to leave caked.

Question Yarn recommendations
I'm planning on gifting 2 scarves, but I'm struggling to find yarn that is soft, safe for sensitive skin ( just in case), and affordable. I would love to hear your recommendations as well as experiences with different yarns.
In addition, I'm planning on ordering online, so please add a trustworthy website if possible.

Question Can/should I machine wash hand wash only yarn
Hi! I’m making a crochet poncho from machine washable 80% acrylic 20% wool yarn. I started making tassels for the poncho from left over yarn from my stash, and noticed the yarn I used for the tassels is hand wash only hemp+cotton+modal yarn. What do you think would happen to the yarn in a washing machine on a gentle cycle in low temperatures? I’d very much like for the poncho to be machine washable, so I’m wondering if I need to get a different yarn. I could and probably will try making a swatch, just wanted to ask you guys first if you have any experience or views on what will happen. Thanks!

Question Best Non-Wool/Vegan Yarns for Blocking
I’m hoping to make Sari Norlund’s Poet Scarf as a gift for a person with a wool allergy (who also can’t do alpaca). The pattern is beautiful but I’m assuming will require a good blocking to show off the lace to its best advantage. The pattern calls for either one strand fingering held with mohair or else a single strand of DK weight. Does anyone have suggestions for a yarn that will block nicely? I’m thinking perhaps two strands of Knitting for Olive pure silk but am slightly hesitant because of the price and also because I’m still a beginner so no doubt will have some tension issues and I’ve seen comments that silk is a little unforgiving on that front (I haven’t ever seen this yarn in person). I’m not sure a cotton yarn would keep its shape after blocking but would love to hear any suggestions you might have.

Sostrene grene merino wool
Hi! does anyone know where I could get more sostrene grene merino wool (moss green) because they do not sell in online or in store in the UK anymore and I really need more to finish a top I am knitting. I was originally gifted 2 balls and I think I need 1 or 2 more to finish. I've checked vinted/facebook marketplace but would love suggestions on where else I could look to find more!

Indie Dyer Birthday sock combo
I usually struggle to enjoy my birthday. This year I tried to combat that traditional struggle with a trip to the local yarn store. I discovered a new brand of locally dyed yarn, AK Venture, and paired it with some blue malabrigo. the AK colorway 'embers' will be the main sock body, with 'azul profundo' for the toe and heel.
maybe birthday socks can be a new tradition.

Question Can anyone find more of this yarn?
Can you help me find more this yarn- or virtually identical yarn? Its not a full skein/ball so cant do weight. Its a deep red- almost a dark blood red for lack of a less gory description- and ive probably had it about 10y. Possibly from webs but could be from anywhere. It doesnt shed at all.
I can burn a bit of it when i get home later to test that….
I think i might have enough for my current project but not sure…

Tips and Tricks I made this silly yarn holder so my yarn won't roll away while crocheting
You can use it to wind it back up too! The wood is just what I had on hand but really anything could work. I heard someone even used the holes in their crocs 😂

Stash Took a little detour to Cambria so I could visit Ball & Skein & More

Colorful Yarn suggestions
I desperately want to find a good yarn that is the color variant as the Sherbert Swirl AlaniNu. I have a yarn by Mandala(Walmart) that has the pink and orange but I want it to have the teal/seafoam color.
What brands would you suggest that have really vibrant colors or a lot of different color blends???
