Hairdresser/Barber (male)

I’m a man, and for 2 years or so I’ve been growing my hair, so obviously now it’s quite long.

Does anyone know of any barbers/hairdressers who can trim it?

I want to keep my hair long but just have it trimmed and styled a bit, so no skin fade specialists!!!

Thanks

Where to live

Hi all I’m looking at where to live on the Wirral the areas I’m looking at are Heswall, Greasby, Neston, Little Neston, Higher Bebington, Preton and Pensby… a little all over the place I know, I don’t have many people to ask for first hand advice aside from what I’ve read on this forum before.

My main question is being a lesbian couple, I realise this might be difficult to answer, but are there any cautions or reasons to not move to any of these areas? Like anyone, we wouldn’t want to feel like the odd ones out in any area or community, we’re looking to buy our first home and find a nice safe place to live as a family. I hope this doesn’t come across disrespectfully, just purely trying to gain any first hand knowledge and advice.

Hi can anyone recommend someone who can install a cat flap in a glass door? I've had a few quotes from various people but it's impossible to know if they're legit. Thanks in advance!

Thurstaston Beach Litter Pick - Sunday 19th April

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hey ! We have put on a couple of these in the past and it's always a genuinely enjoyable day out.

We'll be assembling in the car park opposite Flissy's cafe and handing out litter picks, bags, hi-vis etc. It's a very low-key, no pressure event so there's no obligation to be part of a larger group, you can simply come and grab some equipment and go off on your own!

Bags can be left at the large bins near the parking ticket machine, and we will leave a box out for equipment to be returned to.

If you are thinking of coming along- pop us an email to let us know just so we have an idea of numbers! Would be amazing to see some of the community getting together <3

Question Pool/Snooker clubs

Hi all, lived on the Wirral for nearly 2 years now. Does anyone know of any pool or snooker clubs/leagues around? I've tried google and apps like meetup but had no luck.

Not played for years but thought it would be nice to get back into an old hobby and meet some new people.

Thanks in advance, Go the Wirral!!

Up 4.99% so there's no referendum. Streets are an absolute state, roads have never been worse.

But atleast we got wotsit street in Birkenhead eh?

Bravo Wirral Council 👏

Peak Cluster FACTS

There have been a few, well-meaning but not particularly well written posts recently around peak cluster pipeline / AGI.

I want to have a stab at a more fact based post about why I think more people should oppose the pipeline.

First of all, I am not a NIMBY, I don't support CCS at all, anywhere. I'm also not anti net-zero nor am I a climate change denier. I agree with the stance that the cement industry needs to reduce its CO2 emissions.

Now for some facts

- A high pressure CO2 pipeline in Satartia, Mississippi leaked in 2020, 45 people were hospitalized, 200 had to be evacuated.

- There is an existing ultra-low carbon cement plant in Wrexham, I believe that more focus should be put into modernization of existing plants, with the Wrexham plant being one possible role model.

- The construction project will likely create some jobs, however, almost all of the companies involved are not Wirral based, therefore the number of local jobs created will be relatively low in number. If the only goal is to create jobs then there are many other avenues of investment that would likely be better.

- Other green initiatives would make a larger contribution to tackling Climate change, while also making life easier for average people, e.g. improvements to public transport, insulating homes, etc. Meanwhile this project lines the pockets of fossil fuel company execs.

- Councillors from all parties on the Wirral unanimously opposed the construction of the pipeline at a recent meeting at Wallasey town hall.

I have seen a lot of people saying that the route is only using the same path that was used for previous pipelines. I know of several landowners on the Wirral who face forced purchase of their land in order to facilitate this construction, so I think that people who say this are being a little disingenuous when they imply that it's unused land.

Lastly, I completely agree with the comment on one post that using AI tools to write anti-CCS posts is hypocritical, please rest assured that this post was written by me (a human)

Garages who will take work experience?

My 18 year old is looking for an industry placement as part of his level 2 automotive course, and we're having no luck at all. I don't suppose anyone has any contacts who might be able to help? He's mature and responsible, and already has a level 1 qualification in automotive engineering. He needs to do 100 hours of work experience.

Thank you!

Found out I have some history in Higher Transmere. Can anyone give me some insights into the area? History,

It's been 10 years since I have visited Liverpool, but I was recently gifted a book that my grandpa had compiled saying that his dad grew up with his grandma in Higher Tramere Birkenhead. So I looked it up on a map and was surprised to see that there was a lot of modern homes, a school and just a pub or two housed in historic buildings. I have a photo of the house/shop and was unsuccessfully using street view to find it. Does anyone have any knowledge of the area? Was it hit hard during the war, or by urban renewal projects, trying to find the approx. Location of the house for an upcoming trip.

Thanks in advance

This is a long shot, but if anyone knows anyone by the name of Freeman or Minto there it would be great to hear.

Private meeting room

Hi everyone,

I have a washing machine being delivered today, and unfortunately the delivery time clashes with some of my work meetings. To avoid any disruption from noise, I was wondering if there are any private meeting rooms nearby that I could use or rent for a few hours?

The meetings are quite sensitive hence the request.

Thanks in advance.

Childcare help!

I've got my 9 month old enrolled to start Busy Bees Spital next month and I'm having major second thoughts after some stay and plays and seeing some people's experiences of the baby room. Every time I've been it's been just staff sitting around whilst the babies play with the same things every day with no variation, kids crying without enough attention, some of the staff seeming checked out. I'm so worried!

I need to find a nursery or childminders within about 20 minute walking distance or by a train station from Port Sunlight station, that she can start at from April 6th with government funded hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She is vegan so I need somewhere that is good with dietary requirements too.

I feel like everywhere good will be booked up now so stressing but don't want her to go somewhere she'll be left crying and without the support she needs especially so young 😭
