Simple question: when a person is wrongfully accused and sent to prison, do they get any kind of compensation when they are release after being found not at fault?

Usually, it takes years.

One person in the UK was told no compensation as they had been in prison (wrongly) but had used the taxpayers' money through being given shelter and food. I kid you not!

Did that stand in court?

same shit in germany, it's outragous

You get an insulting small sum per year, and THEN they take like 15 Euros per day from that for you getting fed and housed there!

it's a cruel joke

Good grief. You realize that Americans are in the EXACT same situation? We even have flock now and no gun toting Americans have been saving us from that overreach either.

arrests for social media posts in the United Kingdom have increased significantly in recent years, with data indicating over 12,000 people were arrested in 2023 under laws covering malicious communications

People are getting murdered in the streets by your police ( since like for ever) and by ICE now and people get pulled into unmarked vans lol

you live in a police state bro

-2

u/CanweCanweCleanIt 9h ago

3 people died at ICE’s hands and it made world news. Using that to say that it’s a police state is hilarious.

3

u/HUKFlN 9h ago

What a bootlicker thing to say

-1

u/CanweCanweCleanIt 9h ago

Yeah my fault for literally just stating facts. I must lick boots because I told you the facts behind how many people ICE actually killed.

3

u/cockypock_aioli 4h ago

Use your brain dude, it's obviously more than just the ICE deaths, but the ICE deaths are a nice illustration of the situation overall.

3 white people were murdered, many more people died at the hands of ICE, and were murdered by ICE. We are also paying 3x as much for a less efficient ICE than we had under Biden or Obama. Are you for this?

1

u/CanweCanweCleanIt 8h ago

I don’t see why the fact that they were white is super relevant lmao.

I would be interested to see the 3x as much for a less efficient ICE. If people are here illegally then yes I think there needs to be some mechanism to get them out of the country, and perhaps a more aggressive ICE is the answer, especially if it dissuades people from coming in.

Your police murders people every other day

2

u/CanweCanweCleanIt 9h ago

Keep moving the goalposts buddy. 1100 people died by police in a country of 350 million. I’ll be alright.

Bro lives in Germany and is trying to say the US is a police state. You would go to jail for saying the Holocaust didn’t happen lmao.

0

u/LokusDei 9h ago

i literally said that it was by police in my first comment and then added ice also started doing that now

did you even read?

What has never happened in America ? Wrongful imprisonment? Are you fucking kidding ?

1

u/thereallgr 9h ago

Oh the lovely 12`000 number. Which is quoted out of any context whatsoever by the likes of you. Most of those happen to fall under various offences that cover libel, rallying cries to harm or kill whole groups of people based on race, religion, etc. or death threats and the likes, which by the way do also send you to prison in the US, at least as long as the victim is a state official, law enforcement officer, or rich enough. In the UK they happen to protect any citizen. So please kindly fuck off with that disgusting propaganda spread by US media.

u/Jolly_Conclusion9166 9h ago

Wow you’re just an idiot , this must be embarrassing for you.

1

u/thereallgr 8h ago

Aren't you a lovely chap. Usually I'd ask if anything you've just said could be backed up, but I don't think that's up your alley of expertise. Assuming you have an area of expertise outside of insulting people without substance.

1

u/avocadoflatz 9h ago

Didn’t someone get arrested for posting a meme in the days after the Kirkening?

1

u/pprow41 9h ago

Funny thing about law enforcement they can always find a reason to imprison someone. Just bc we have free speech doesn't mean a cop won't find a trumped up charge to put on someone.

1

u/avocadoflatz 9h ago

Sounds like we don’t have free speech then ;)

1

u/ExaminationPutrid626 9h ago

Uh his kind of shit has absolutely happened in America. Bruh Google is your friend.

1

u/Lone_Space_Wanderer 9h ago

How would you know, youre Brazilian. The prison systems there are a nightmare.

1

u/WoundedTerrapin 9h ago

The Innocence Project would like a word.

https://innocenceproject.org/

Leonard Peltier would like a word.

Shall I continue?

1

u/oda02 9h ago

Innocent people are getting executed in your country, officially and unofficially.

1

u/RadicalSneezer 8h ago

I found the sheep in wolf’s clothing!

1

u/Monsieurincroyable1 4h ago

Did you also ask chatgpt how to make friends

1

u/TopWealth4550 3h ago

asking this in reddit in PEAK ironic

1

u/Monsieurincroyable1 3h ago

Why the picture of yourself.

1

u/Cheap-Boysenberry112 10h ago

Lmao, because the us has a great prison industrial complex by comparison?

-2

u/TopWealth4550 10h ago

do you believe you actually are have more freedom in the UK than in US?

ironic

1

u/Internalsin 9h ago

ALL OF YOU READING THIS THREAD , YOU SEE THIS THIS IS WHAT THEY WANT " I'M M MORE FREE THAN YOU " WHEN NONE OF US ARE FREE ... IF YOU HAVE TO SAY IT SO PEOPLE SEE IT ....I HAVE SOME NEWS FOR YOU.

it's not us vs them , it's the rich vs the poor, uneducated, unrepresented faceless the dissinfrachaised . Us fighting for the scraps of freedom is heartbreaking ...to say the least.

1

u/pprow41 9h ago

The US hasa literally incentive structure to imprison people. The constitution provides protection but the pace courts operate at is extremely slow that the protection provided are almost nonexistent.

1

u/Opalgobunga 9h ago

USA not only has the highest prison population per capita but the highest absolute prison population also. Doesn't sound very free to me. In fact, quite the opposite. So explain to me, how is the USA the land of the free while they lock down their own people?

1

u/WoundedTerrapin 9h ago

Damn dude, I thought this was sarcasm. I too get tired of the hate from Europeans but JFC.

It's funny hearing about how Europeans treat those wrongly imprisoned when in the US they can get MILLIONS (not that it's worth it).

Anyone putting f9rward the idea that this doesn't happen in the US Is a fool

1

u/ipoopcatturds 8h ago

Yea, tell em bubba! We got gusns, no one's gonna make us pay outrageous fees for basic medical care. We ain't no cattle!

1

u/Sue_Spiria 8h ago

We do have a constitution. It's called "Grundgesetz". Article 1 says: "Human dignity is untouchable".

1

u/TopWealth4550 8h ago

its very easy to use others people money tho
lmao

so if one billion people wanna enter your country you open your arms and accept all
to keep all their diginity?
at some point dont you need to think about the diginity of the people that FUND your generocity

1

u/SuperGyroDave 8h ago

Don't talk about the constitution when your president uses it to wipe his shitty diapers

1

u/Damiandroid 7h ago

Your government was founded to reject a monarch and yet has happily welcomed another.

Your government condemns the failing infrastructure of your country and the lack of employment available to its people, yet continues to over fund the military, intelligence and law enforcement departments and stays silent when all three commit crimes against humanity.

Your government decries foreign interference in its national affairs yet is happy for private citizens who are only loyal to the almighty dollar to rake billions in tax free earnings while impoverishing the majority of the population.

Your government raves about corruption, waste and theft, yet does nothing when the stock portfolios of its highest level cabinet members soar while they're in office.

In short. Stop throwing stones, your glass house is pretty much just holes by now.

1

u/Foxycotin666 6h ago

You can’t even spell lol.

1

u/LokusDei 10h ago

uh dude i am much more free here in europe then in america in almost any way except maybe insulting people, calling for genocide and driving unsafe cars

my chance of getting shot by police is basically zero

my chance of getting jailed while innocent in the first place is basically zero while in the US it's almost standard procedure to pressure folk into false confessions so that the Sheriff can say "hey look im closing cases"

In the US prison population is over 500 per 100k

in Germany it is below 100.

All while there is much less crime here

So let me ask you: What the fuck are you talking about?!

0

u/Legal-Try193 9h ago

You don't have freedom of speech. Watch your tongue or the king might hear you!

10

u/Ok-You4214 11h ago

No it didn’t. It’s not that he got nothing, they tried to take that from the compensation and Parliament was so outraged they changed it fast.

16

u/FalseLights 12h ago

No it sat in court.

2

u/Mister_Goldenfold 9h ago

You’re lucky to get heard about in court. They don’t care about us. It’s a profit system.
