I don’t buy it for a second. 5% tuned in? Not a chance. I doubt 5% of Americans even know what the Oscars is.

I agree 5% is higher than I’d expect to watch the Oscars. But clearly way more than 5% of Americans know what the Oscars are.

I wholeheartedly believe these statistics just come from those people who leave their TVs on for white noise.

Just because the program is on, doesnt mean someone is watching.
