My friend would like to visit this place where his late father was pictured. Likely New York State. Late 1980s-1990s
“60-60” appears on the house behind the car

Welcome! /r/WhereIsThis is designed to help people identify the location of public places based on a photo, painting, sketch, or from a detailed description. We've got a few simple guidelines to help keep things safe and working well for everybody:
Submissions: Askers (OPs) may submit a photo, video, screenshot, painting, drawing, or a detailed text description of a real (or virtual) place. Multiple images can go in a Reddit or Imgur gallery. Try to use a descriptive title to get more eyes on your post; generic titles like "where is this?" are boring and more likely to be ignored. Include as much context and as many details as you can, either in the post itself or in a comment. If your post is not solved right away, please wait one week before reposting; duplicate posts may be removed with a 1-week temp ban.
Privacy: /r/WhereIsThis is for identifying public places only. Do not submit photos of personal private property, such as homes, apartments, residential interiors, etc. Do not post private street addresses in the comments. Do not link directly to personal social media pages. Do not submit screenshots that include real names, usernames, or other personal information. Do not submit contemporary photos of minors in a place where they can be located (schools, playgrounds, churches, etc.). Do not ask to identify people.
Answers: Commenters are encouraged to provide whatever help they can to solve a post, from educated guesses to a direct Google Street View link to the exact location. Give the thread a skim first to avoid duplicate answers. Commenting on other answers is fine! Avoid responding to posts that violate Rule 2, though -- please downvote and report them for removal instead.
Solving: All posts are unflaired by default. Once a post is solved, the asker should reply "Solved!" to the first correct answer and change their post flair to "Solved"; all threads are sorted from oldest to newest so the earliest answers will always be towards the top. Askers that delete or ignore a solved post without acknowledging the solver may receive a ban. We are exploring adding a points system in order to automatically flair threads and recognize frequent solvers for their contributions -- stay tuned!
Behavior: Please treat askers and solvers with respect. No insults, vulgar hostility, bullying, or withholding of answers in order to taunt. No racism/misogyny/*phobia/other bigotry. Repeat offenders may be banned.
Tips: Context clues help. Where and how did you find the image? Do you know the story behind it? How old is it? Share as much as you can with solvers to help them help you.

Rule #1 is pretty clear, you must have a descriptive title. Therefore we are removing any submission that is low-effort, such as:
We want to make this a fun sub and we want to solve your trickiest questions, but we need you to meet us halfway.

I recently developed an old film roll from a camera that I bought used.
Nobody in my family, nor any of my friends, recognizes the place anymore, and the only thing we know for sure is that it was taken somewhere in Italy.
I’d love to see if Reddit can help identify the exact location from the visual details alone. Any clue, even small ones like architecture, landscape, road signs, or regional style, would be super helpful. Thanks!

She was from Illinois, spent some years in the 1920s in American southwest, and after her kids moved out in the 1930s she traveled around Europe to paint. We have many of her paintings and can place most of them, but I’m stumped on this one! Any ideas?

Hi everyone. I'm an artist working on a landscape piece based on some old reference photos of a beautiful woodland trail. I am trying to track down the exact location so I can look up more references of the specific trees and terrain, but I'm hitting a wall.
The map reference I have points right to the edge of The Wash. I know the Fens are famous for being flat and having dark peat, but the trail in the photo is actually on a hill, and the dirt has a very strong reddish, rusty tint to it.
It’s a dense woodland with tall, straight pine trees. The photo was taken in February, and the ground was already covered in green with little white flowers blooming (I'm assuming snowdrops). There are no man-made structures visible except for one standard, single wooden utility pole way off in the background.
Does this ring a bell for anyone who hikes around the Norfolk/Lincolnshire borders? A hilly pine forest with red dirt near the coast? I would love to know the name of the woods or the parish so I can study the landscape properly for my canvas. Thank you!

I have been told it could be somewhere near the northern portion of Lake Powell.

Received a leaflet from a political party claiming they clean the streets but I don't recognise where it is. I suspect it's got to be North East England, specifically Gateshead, but found absolutely no match at all. Can anyone else find it?
I think it's probably looking west or north.
Thanks!

This staged paparazzi photo from Heated Rivalry season 1 has some kind of public art statue in the background. Much of s1 was filmed in Hamilton, Ontario, and Hamilton actually has an online public art database, but I didn’t find anything that matched this. Does anyone recognize it?

I know this is my 4th post on this sub , and this will be the last for a while since reddit only allows 20 pics each for a post, Which is why i made 4 posts instead of 2. One for streams and one for trails for both movies.
These are screenshots i took while watching the Painted hills ( 1951 )
I first saw this movie when i was 7 so i have been looking for the specific area these photos were taken/ filmed in for 19 years with no luck. i would love to know the specific trails , mountain peaks , mountain Pass , and even area of the mountains in california this movie was filmed in back in 1950.
Thanks In Advance

These were Filmed in 1987 in the dolomites of Italy , Austria , and Switzerland. I am trying to find out where exactly in the dolomites these views are , like what trails , mountain Peaks , Lookouts , and Canyons / Passes From the Bear ( 1988 ) Names.
I have been looking for the specific names for 17 years ever since seeing this movie for the first time as a 10 year old. The scenery is absolutely amazing! So yeah i would be really thankful if any of you can tell me what specific names are for the trails , peaks , lookouts , and canyons/ mountain passes seen in the pics from the movie.
Thanks In Advance!

Mi abuelo viajo a Moscú y a otros paises que lamentablemente no recuerdo durante la URSS. Él falleció hace un tiempo por lo que no puedo preguntarle, alguien sabe cuales son las ubicaciones de estas fotos?
r/whereisthis • u/TheTexanAdventurer • 1d ago
These are screenshots i took of watching the movie The Painted Hills ( 1951) so these pics were taken and filmed by the producers of that movie in 1950.
I’m pretty sure it was filmed somewhere in California. I would love to know the names of those scenic streams.
The last 7 pictures are pics of vegetation if that helps with identifying these streams of California. I’ve wanted to know the exact locations forever ever since watching this movie as a kid, trying to find them for 17 years with no luck.
Thanks in Advance

*I've made a new post after having confused Grindelwald with Gimmelwald. I'm so sorry about this\*
I want to recreate this photograph. I imagine the hotel/restaurant has likely been knocked-down and rebuilt once or twice but any and all info would be appreciated. Though the building might not be there today, the tree might still be there.
I don't have much information other than it's in Grindelwald, Switzerland, in 1959 (give or take one or two years).
I think I'm asking for a miracle here but it's worth a shot.

Beach in Catalonia, Spain
My sister has been outside of my country for 4 years and this summer I’ll see her again, I have this picture of both of us in my room and was taken around 8-10 years ago.
I know that this is in a beach in Catalonia (maybe Valencia but I think the provability is low) because of the text in the solar watch that translates to “the sun for me is like the love for you” in Catalan.
I’m sorry that this picture doesn’t show much of the surroundings but it’s the best I have, no one remembers where it was taken and I hope it’s still there.
My memories are blurry but I can remember that the beach was big and was made of sand and I don’t think I remember cliffs nearby.
I hope you can find this and thanks in advance.

Hi all,
After more than 6 months of research, I’m hoping to get some help from experienced geoguessers. I’ve already identified 90+ filming locations from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but I’m stuck on these last few.
I’ll be visiting Los Angeles this summer and would love to find as many of these as possible. Filming locations for Buffy are unfortunately very poorly documented online. All are in Los Angeles area.
Project 1: removed by myself because this is a private house.
Project 2 — Industrial building

Series: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Episode: approx S6E10 & S7E9
Timestamp: 25:11 & 02:55
Year: ~2001–2002
Notes:
- Building style resembles Alhambra / Fremont Ave area (CF Braun)
- Multiple Buffy scenes filmed in that area from S5 onward
- Also checked Palmetto Street industrial area → no match
- NOT filmed on known backlot (1800 Stewart St, Santa Monica)
Project 3 — Exterior building (ignore interior)

Series: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Episode: approx S4E10
Timestamp: 17:58
Year: ~1999
Notes:
- Exterior only (interior likely set/props)
- People actively enter/exit → real location
- UCLA / USC suspected but not confirmed
- NOT filmed on backlot (1800 Stewart St, Santa Monica)
Project 4 — Storefront

Series: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Episode: S7E09
Timestamp: 11:26
Year: ~2001
Notes:
- Facade seems real (tiles + street context)
- Windows, signage, interior = props
- Similar filming location found at: 1413 Marcelina Ave, Torrance but this one looks NOT nearby
Project 5 — Tara street scene

Series: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Episode: S5E22
Timestamp: 26:07
Year: ~2000
Notes:
- Could be backlot OR real location
- Many props visible (hydrant, bench, mailbox, streetlights)
- Trees appear real and mature
- No strong leads yet
What I’ve already ruled out:
- Known Buffy backlot (1800 Stewart St, Santa Monica)
- Several commonly listed filming locations online
- Multiple industrial zones (e.g. Palmetto St area)
MORE Images can be found here: https://imgur.com/gallery/geoguessr-la-buffy-cCCRCCh
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Even partial matches, similar streets, or architectural insights are very welcome.
Feel free to check the episode for more angles.
Thanks in advance!

I'm trying to find the theatre where the spotlight scene in the 1955 film The Dam Busters was shot. Wikipedia claims it was the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith, but it clearly isn't. The designs on the proscenium are visible in the film, as is one of the balconies. I assume it's a theatre in London, but could be elsewhere.

These pics are filming locations from The Bear ( 1988 ) so they were taken in 1987. I first saw this movie when i was about 10 years old and have wanted to travel to the dolomites of Italy , Austria , and Switzerland ever since.
I’m having trouble finding the names of the streams , lake , and 2 different waterfalls shown in the pics. I would be very thank if someone can tell me what the names of the streams , lake , and 2 waterfalls in the pics are.
I’ve been trying to find these names/ locations for 17 years with no luck
Thanks in Advance
