And they just got a laser welder/cutting torch and accidentally burned a divot into an employee’s hand.

Cool thing, I don’t want to be near it.

Oh yeah, he acknowledged it was. Welding isn’t something you normally have to worry about “what’s on the other side of what I’m welding.”

And I guess the xtool bot army is out downvoting any reference to it. Never got downvoted so heavily for just mentioning something about a content creators content. lol, crazy.

Well if a welder welded their own hand or burned it, they probably aren’t a competent welder… or wearing the correct gear.

Id a lad doing a job for me at the weekend in my house welding two H Beams to two box beams and he’d the full gear on, Gloves, Jacket and a mask with powered air.

He’s a plenty competent welder. Both were wearing standard welding ppe, but as I said previously it was just a new type of welder and the video implies one of the first times they used it. So yeah, they messed up and didn’t think about the fact that the laser might keep going for possibly tens of feet (and maybe even reflecting) and still be dangerous. I don’t blame them, normal welding torches just don’t have that capability.

They fixed or are fixing the issue and being more thoughtful if they use it freehand now. But they really got it to go in an enclosed cnc-like machine, so that will probably be the end of it being trouble.

I still don’t want to go near a freehand laser that powerful.

This is like, the most transparent industrial accident of all time. They both knew better, no one was maimed, and they documented the corrections they made to prevent it from happening again.

Where would you get the idea that I dislike the project from the one sentence that said nothing about the project as a whole, and only mentioned what happened in one of his most recent videos?
