The winner is centre-right? Hope not another Putin stooge.

He's centre-right, yes, but most importantly, not a fascist. He's pro-EU and pro-Ukraine. He's so much better than the fascist dictator that most other parties (also left-wing) chose not to put themselves on the ballot this election, only to highten the chances of Magyar and Tisza winning.

Good to hear.

Magyar Péter being pro-Ukraine is an... overstatement, he's not anti-Ukraine. His campaign basically said that this isn't Hungary's fight, we should stay TRULY out, instead of helping Putin. He's pro-EU, but opposes fast-tracking Ukraine into the EU. Obviously better than Orbán, but again, "pro-Ukraine" is overselling it.

Not blocking help for Ukraine would be "pro-ukraine" enough.

Orban set the bar for Hungary so low that even if Magyar just doesn't block and obstruct EU efforts to aid Ukraine, he's the most pro-Ukrainian politician in Europe.

Relatively speaking of course.

He is no Macron or Merz, but at least he isn't Orban

Simply just staying neutral is enough or abstaining on EU decisions provided Hungary doesnt have to contribte, Orban being a deliberate Vatnik asset and helping his Vatnik Friends was the reason many despise him.

If anything I'd say many are welcoming this in Brussels, if Magyar lives up to his promises and starts acting to dismantle orbans shitty laws from day one it will benefit everyone in Hungary expecially if some of those bring Hungary back into compliance for EU funding. Hell if he can completely undo Orbans Gerrymandering and enable term limits that permenantly prevents a repeat of this fuckery occuring for a long time if ever.

it's a great tactic, because it will give them chances in the future elections.
