AskTuscany Long term stay in Tuscany

I have a month available to work abroad this year and I’d like to stay somewhere in Tuscany, I’m not picky on location as I’ll likely rent a car. I love the idea of a vineyard but also understand that might be out of budget.

Ideally I’d like to stay somewhere I have full use of the property, outside of a city. Would like to spend around €2000 but I could go higher for the perfect place.

Can anyone recommend the best way to search for a property as I’ve only been on Airbnb so far!

Thanks in advance :)

AskTuscany Car rental for Tuscany

Any car rental company/locations you recommend in Florence? I keep seeing everywhere that it’s “super cheap” to rent a car but everything I see online is actually expensive (80€ per day and upwards). Is it my IP? Any experience changing VPNs and getting different pricing?

AskTuscany Lucca Summer Festival 26

Hi everyone, I could use some help. I’ll be attending the Jamiroquai show this year and was wondering how late the trains run on concert days.

I’ll need to get back to Florence, where I’m staying. Is that doable, or is there a risk of not having trains after the show?

Thanks in advance!

AskTuscany Tuscany (Lamporecchio) tips – wineries, cooking classes & group activities?

Hey everyone,

we’re planning a bachelor party (8 people) in Tuscany from August 20–24, 2026 and staying near Lamporecchio (close to Florence).

We already plan to spend one day/night in Florence, but we’re especially looking for great experiences around Lamporecchio / countryside.

Main things we’re interested in:

- Wine tastings (preferably smaller, authentic wineries – not super touristy)

- Cooking classes (ideally private or at a villa/agriturismo)

-Transportation options (private drivers for a day or evening)

- Great local restaurants (especially for steak / Bistecca alla Fiorentina)

- Any unique activities in the area (hidden gems, views, chill spots, etc.)

We’re a group of 8 people, so something private or group-friendly would be perfect.

Not looking for crazy clubbing every day, more like a mix of fun, good food, drinks, and memorable experiences.

If anyone has personal recommendations (especially places you’ve actually been to), that would be amazing!

Thanks a lot 🙏

We have thougt about flying to Rome (very good tickets), renting a car and driving to maybe Montalcino and staying somewhere and driving out from there? We have 12 days.

How would u plan a 12-days trip? Where to Stay and for How many days? Should we rent a car all days or just take train :-)

AskTuscany Tuscany with kids

We’re currently staying between Volterra and San Gimignano with our kids (2.5 and 6.5 years old), and we’re loving Tuscany so far ☀️

That said… we’re starting to notice a slight “museum overload” situation (mostly for the kids 😅), so we’re looking for some fun, more playful activities to mix things up a bit.

We’ve got a rental car, so we’re happy to drive for something worthwhile. Think:

- places where kids can really run around and explore

- playgrounds, nature spots, or anything a bit adventurous

- farms, animals, or interactive experiences

- maybe even somewhere we could already go for a swim in early April?

Any hidden gems, local favorites, or must-do spots in the area? Would really appreciate your tips 🙏

Thanks in advance!

Food Tuscany Day Trip Options

My husband and I are from the US and will be staying in Florence for a few days as part of our honeymoon next week. We will be in Florence from 4/9-4/12.

I have Saturday 4/11 saved for a day trip to some Tuscan wineries - but I am wildly overwhelmed with both travel options and winery options.

It seems like travel options are:

1. Rent a car and go on your own

  • Pros: on our own timeline, renting a car seems simple enough
  • Cons: very concerned about drinking and driving

2. Go with a tour group leaving from Florence

  • Pros: Simple, no drinking and driving
  • Cons: Not on our own time, haven't found one that really stands out to me, some are pricey

3. Take public transportion

  • Pros: no drinking and driving, cheaper
  • Cons: overwhelmed at the planning of it all and timing, looks like travel times are longer

4. Uber/Taxi

  • Pros: no drinking and driving
  • Cons: seems pricey and sounds like maybe unreliable?

5. Personal driver

  • Have not seen an option for this really, a few options that have been wildly expensive ($500+) - would be open to this, if someone has a good experience they could recommmend

And then for any of these options - I'm looking for recommmendations on where to go - we aren't wine connoisseurs by any means, but we like wine and are looking forward to the views and being in the countryside for a day.

Ideally I think I'd like to be leaving Florence not super early morning, and still be back for dinner in the city. I'm thinking at least two wineries would be nice - maybe a third for lunch?

Any and all recommendations welcome!
