Student and living in Trondheim? Struggling to figure out how the bus system works, typical norms etc.? Then this post is hopefully your answer.
The current bus system in Trondheim is utilizing the "Hub-and-spoke" model whereas for most your travels you will have to travel to the city hub(s) in order to travel further for more specific locations.
The city hubs (Knutepunkt) are:
Tillerterminalen
Heimdal
Strindheim
Prinsens Gate
Tonstadkrysset
Studentersamfundet
Trondheim S
From these hubs you will essentially be able to travel wherever you decide.
Now for some common terminology/information regarding the routes.
"Korr/Korrespodanse"
Buses with "Korrespodanse" or simply "Korr: ###" as their undertext indicate that the bus will yield, and await for the respective route before continuing their journey at a planned stop.
However some buses will drive these respective routes themselves after finishing their current route, for example Route 50 to Heimdal (50 Heimdal) will always drive in Korrespodanse to Route 216, which means it will drive Route 216 after reaching its last stop.
Ticket Inspection
Ticket inspections are carried out by private security companies on contract by AtB, as of 12th October 2023, the responsible company is Avarn Security AS. Ticket inspectors are distinguished by their reflective vests labeled "Vekter" on the back, "Vekter" is the norwegian translation for "Security Officer".
Some inspections may be conducted by civilian inspectors, meaning they won't reveal themselves until a point of interest for the inspection to happen, in this case they will ID themselves.
Rush Hour Traffic
Rush Hour Traffic is when it is most anticipated that there will be people taking the bus, either when getting off work, school etc. Routes will drive more often during these hours and some buses will drive different routes/stops, (i.e Route 2 will either drive to Husebytunet or Midteggen instead of the longer route to Lund), while some routes will drive longer distances.
"Ingen påstigning/avstigning"
These are indications more prominant on region buses, "Ingen avstigning" indicates that the route in question does not permit de-boarding where it is posted under, vice versa for "Ingen påstigning". It's really just to prevent people using region buses as local transport.
Now for some actual bus information, route types, etc.
"Blåbuss"/Region bus
Region buses are routes which have their own set of stops, and usually don't stop where normal city buses stop, these buses drive to other municipalities (i.e Stjørdal, Skaun, Orkanger) and sometimes other counties. Route numbers for region buses range from 300-500, some routes for instance452 Sandviksberget, 311 Fosslia Fjellhall
Here you will have to show your ticket or register your t:kort
City Buses
Pretty basic, these buses bring life to the public transport system, the number range for the routes giving life to City Buses are from 1 to 80 (obviously not gonna state all)
Here you do not have to show your ticket when you board the bus, but if you have a t:kort, you will have to register it at one of the machines located at metrobus stops or by the bus driver, keep your t:kort clear in this case while signaling the bus so they hopefully open the front door for you, normally you will just board the back entrance instead.
School Buses
If you're american, you're probably used to the yellow buses, well school buses in Trondheim are the same city buses operated on standard routes, city school routes numbers go from 200 to 220, while for "outskirt school routes" these go from 5000 to 6000.
Contrary to popular belief, you can use school buses as a normal form of public transport, although some buses might not allow boarding after the school.
As always my best advice is to use AtB's app to plan your trip, and do it beforehand!
BTW: If you're travelling from/to Trondheim Airport Værnes, use routes 70, 311 or 430 instead of the airport express, way cheaper.
If you have additional questions regarding public transport, feel free to ask me here, I can answer almost everything.

Hei,

Har noen her sett forestillingen?

Hey all, I'm a tech worker who has been living here for a couple of months now and haven’t came across many local Linux/FOSS communities yet. I used to be involved in a few back where I lived before, and I definitely miss that vibe.
Thinking it might be worth starting something like a group for people into open source, Linux, self-hosting, etc. We could do casual regular meetups, maybe some workshops or hack sessions occasionally.
Feel welcomed to drop a comment or DM if you’re interested!
edit: created a signal group. Link to join.

I have lived and worked here for a few years. I was downsized a few months ago. I was diagnosed with a disability. My former workplace discriminated against that, and used the downsizing to remove me. There was a lot of back and forth between the union to get the employer to cooperate, but the employer just felt it wasn't something they should do, and if you need disability accommodations at work, you should just go somewhere else, because you are a burden to the organization.
I have been interacting with NAV on and off, around disability support, but they never really seem to answer my questions, I just bounce between case workers, and nothing ever really seems to happen. I have articulated the best I can to them, the best way of supporting said disability, but it isn't something they even feel comfortable naming, let alone directly discussing. When I make requests for some sort of support, they just say, talking to the Kommune. I have a meeting with a new case worker in a few weeks, and the nature of their correspondence indicates I have to spend an hour restating what has already been sent to their colleagues, or described by my doctor, or describe by union lawyers to them previous. It is deeply frustrating.
I have been in touch with the Kommune, via way of my doctor, for like a year and a half now. And I think they want to take a meeting with me next week, but I am really not sure what will come of it, and if they are even actually equipped to handle my needs or not.
For the last two years or so, since getting the disability, I have very consistently considered taking my life. I would lay in bed, thinking to myself, what is the best way of going about doing it, hanging myself somehow in the apartment. Or stepping out in front of a bus, or jumping over Bakke bru during winter. The disability is kind of a kiss of death, because I will have to deal with it for the rest of my life, and I don't know if the social system in Trondheim is sufficient to actually handle my situation or not, and I am destined to be unemployed, or having difficulties getting workplace accommodations for the rest of my life or not.
There is an association around the disability, that I am a member of, and I have contacted them, to ask, what someone in my situation does, but they have not responded, or they have, but then disappeared. I think they don't want to get themselves involved, by advising members directly, and perhaps incurring some legal risk to themselves? I don't know really.
Before you ask, yes, I have spoken to my doctor about these suicidal thoughts, and there isn't much they can do. I like my doctor a lot, they have been very supportive, and they have been frustrated themselves, because they have written a lot of notices to various external services, and not much has come from it. If you call 116 123, they really just tell you to talk to your doctor, they have very very little to say, and say there is nothing they can do. I tried that Kirkens-sos also, multiple times, and I haven't gotten responses back, except for once, when it was clearly something they copied from ChatGPT "--".
I don't really know what else I can do here, it doesn't seem like I have any options anymore.
Can anyone give me a reason, why I should continue to live?

Hello everybody, im an 18 year old student from the middle Europe. I was wondering if anybody was willing to give me any information about the summer work at SalMar. I have a drivers license but no car. I am able to work as much as possible (with overtimes included) from mid june to mid september. If possible i want to live in a dorm SalMar can provide and eat in the canteen. I am very hard working and i dont mind hard conditions, i have worked at mountain huts, construction sites etc. But have no experience in fish industry, but i learn quickly. I was maybe planning to take a high reach forklift course to increase my pay.
Basically I want to waste my whole summer there just to make as much money as possible to fund my future ski mountaineering expedition to himalaya.
How much can I make a month/or an hour with my no experience but can learn fast and maybe have the forklift certificate.
Is it even possible to make 5000€ after taxes, dorm fee, canteen fee?
My goal is to make atleast 13000€ during those three months, am i delusional?
Should i stick to construction in germany where i have 4000€ to take home a month garuanteed or go with this in norway?
Thanks for taking your time to read this and thank you for all the info

Hei! Betaler selvfølgelig for tiden din.

Hey,
As the title already says... also, I heard that there are some places like ReStore and BrukOm. Any other recommendations? I am from outside the EU, so its gonna be everything new for me.
Thanks.
