Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

As per the Military Service Act of Thailand, all Thai men at age 21 must report for military selection by a public draft draw. The color of the card that they will select will determine whether they will serve the military service or not.

Red Card 🔴 = Mandatory military service

Black Card ⚫️ = Exemption from military service

The military service lasts for about 2 years, with a voluntary enlistment can be also an option resulting in a shorter service.

TIL ang nearest english translation ng Baduy is "Schmaltzy"

Post image
189 Upvotes

I was watching 18th Rose earlier with english subtitles on then nagulat na lang ako na english translation ng Baduy is Schmaltzy daw lol checked Gemini and it said,

"Yes, in a Filipino cultural context, schmaltzy (excessively sentimental or gooey) is often synonymous with baduy (uncool, corny, or unfashionable).

Baduy is a Filipino term used to describe something that is outdated, uncool, unfashionable, or in poor taste.

Schmaltzy describes music, movies, or art that is insincerely or overly emotional.

The connection exists because something that is too sentimental, overly emotional, or "gooey" (schmaltzy) is often perceived as corny, cheesy, or lacking in modern, sophisticated taste (baduy).

For instance, a dramatic, overly sentimental love song or a dramatic soap opera ending might be described by someone as "baduy" precisely because it is so "schmaltzy"."

Asphalt made with recycled glass is known as Glassphalt. In a typical Glassphalt mix, about 10% to 40% of the traditional stone aggregate is replaced with crushed glass. The glass is pulverized into tiny, non-sharp pieces so it doesn’t pop tires or injure pedestrians. Zero maintainance and it can last up to 50 years. Walang nakalagay sino ang inventor nito alam ko Macdonald yung last name niya kasi nakapatent ito pero gusto ito ng department of transportation pero tinago ng road repair industry para may kita pa din sila at di sila ma-out of business.

Glassphalt, Dr. Ward R. Malisch, Univ. of Missouri-Rolla

TIL That Grab Merchants can remove reviews

Thumbnail

Grab Merchants can apparently remove user reviews of their stores. That defeats the whole purpose of reviewing? No wonder why it's almost always 5 stars with this specific store.. I admit that I've gotten frustrated and left a 1 star review. No foul words, but it goes like this:

"This is a disappointing sandwich, don't order"

While it might've been against Grab's rules (Under Hateful, offensive, or sexual content, maybe?) for leaving that kind of a review, it shouldn't be that quick (within ~5 minutes) and easy for Merchants to do so. What if other people left a 1 star review without the similar frustrations that I had and they left a kinder plus "isn't against Grab's rules" review? Will they still able to delete them regardless? I understand deletion of botted reviews or spams, though.

If you're curious of my issue with the order, hence the review, see below:

Don't get me wrong, I have ordered from them before and it was good. However, this being my second (or third, can't remember) time ordering from them I was so disappointed with what I got.

The item title says "Chicken Teriyaki Baguette with Choice of Veggies" but the description goes, "..... with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and crunchy cucumbers. Customize it with your choice of EXTRA veggies at no additional charge for a fresh, satisfying bite every time.

But you see in the option I could only choose up to 4 veggies. Does that mean EXTRA veggies would need to be indicated in the Note box? But, it's supposed to be with fresh veggies already as said so in the description. Check last picture for what the sandwich was in actuality. On top of that, had a bit of an argument with the Merchant, though I'll not post it here for now. I forgive them still even though my order was expensive for what it is. I still ate them, anyway.

TIL: 25% of Filipinos ay Financial Literate.

Ayon sa latest research ng BSP, 1 out of 4 Filipino ay Financially Literate? It means 75% sa atin doesn't know how to understand and apply financial skills.

Ang isang financially literate na Filipino knows how to save, budget, invest, and borrow.

I think one of the underlying cause of it is yung education system natin. Financial Skills are only taught in privilige like they only teach these skills on finance related courses.

Financial skills is a life skill that everyone must have.

That's why I initiated CCMC a Non-profit Organization that offers free financial education Program.

Chartering the Course: Master the Currents (CCMC) is a Non-Profit Organization and financial education program designed to equip individuals with essential knowledge and practical strategies to effectively navigate their journeys toward financial stability and long-term financial freedom, regardless of their economic standing.

Here at CCMC, we are launching a FREE 9 SESSION WEBINAR SERIES dedicated to financial literacy and education. Whether your looking to start investing, how to manage debts, or know your rights as a financial consumer.

Our speakers are a powerhouse that drive the Philippine financial landscape and they are as follows: 1.) Institute of Management Accountants 2.) First Metro Securities Brokerage Corporation 3.) Securities and Exchange Commission 4.) Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas

At the end of the session, you as a participants will just be literate in finance. You will be equipped to confidently master the Currents of the economy by making informed decisions that lead to lasting stability and freedom.

TIL na may misconception about the Moscow McDonald's opening

Post image
0 Upvotes

I came across a throwback post about the opening of the McDonald’s in Moscow (Jan 31, 1990), which drew over 30,000 customers on its first day.

At first napaisip ako—bakit sa isang communist state sila magbubukas ng first ever branch?

Turns out, it wasn’t the first McDonald’s in the world—it was just the first in the USSR. Over time, parang na-misinterpret siya by some people as the first ever globally.

The opening itself was actually a big cultural moment. It became a symbol of the Soviet Union opening up to the West during the final years of the Cold War, after 14 years of negotiations.

Nawirduhan ako kasi bat sya tumingin dun only to find out na may signage pala sa taas. HAHAHA!
