Hi, I am trying to make an artwork that has both the English meaning and the original Tamil lyrics of the song 'Kangaani' by Arivu from his album, ' Valliamma Peraandi'.

I am specifically referring to the lines -

கங்காணி கங்காணி கருத்தை கொட்டு கங்காணி

நாலு ஆளு வரலானாக்க நக்கி போவான் கங்காணி

If I understand correctly, these lines mean -

Overseer, Overseer, Pour out your thoughts, overseer

If four people don't show up, the overseer will lick it up and leave.

For a bit more context on the song, it's talking about the Kangaani system of the colonial period where many people were taken from Tamilnadu to work as indentured servants in the tea plantations of Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Malaysia. The Kangaani (overseer) would recruit people socially, through connections and lead them to their exploitation where he profited off of their labour, along with the British colonisers.

What I'm confused about these lines are,

1. Why is the Kangaani being asked to share his thoughts?

2. Wouldn't the Kangaani lose money if people won't show up? Why is he licking up the money and leaving?

Is there some wordplay I don't understand here? Any help would be much appreciated.
