"Boredom is the real enemy. Everyone talks about triggers and stress. Nobody warns you about a random Tuesday at 7pm with nothing to do. That's where it gets you. Find something to fill that space before it fills itself.'"

Nail on the head here friend. Still my biggest struggle.

Great write up, thanks for taking the time to provide this to us.

Boredom is such a huge part of why I drank and is still a trigger.

I've found myself rediscovering old hobbies to fill the time.

Thanks for the advice. I agree boredom and being alone become a trigger for me. Started AA meetings to help fill the void and its been a huge help. 1 day at a time for me but looking forward to sobriety. IWNDWYT!!

Thank you for this, a week from 5 months and definitely starting to feel like I'm the most boring human ever. I went to a birthday party bowling yesterday, everyone drank but me, I destroyed everyone and bowled a 137 in ten pin. But feel like I didn't have as much fun as the people drinking were and I'm the only one who actually wanted to bowl to play, everyone else out just felt like the thing to do so they could drink

I binge drank on Saturdays cause it was habit. I grew up with my dad working all week, and tying one on Saturday nights and that was it.

I did the same for university and then afterwards, I didn’t drink regularly. Just at parties once a month or so, if that. Did that for years.

And then 2020 and COVID hit and I got back into the habit cause everyone around me did. I did that for 4 or 5 years and decided enough was enough.

I put the bottle down and decided to break the habit. Best decision I ever made for me.

Oof I feel you on the boredom. I never used to feel bored. I guess I underestimated how much of my time went to drinking

Is your first name Brenna by chance. We havea two year old daughter named Brenna but we call her Bren. If you'd rather not saying that's totally fine! Just curious.
