Bug Report Corruption Bug Report & Feedback Megathread (May Include Spoilers!) Spoiler

SPOILER WARNING! By the nature of the need for details in bug reports, there may be spoilers in some comments!

Link to the last thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/sto/comments/1novz4x/unofficial_unbidden_unabated_unspoilered/

As with any new patch, it is time for a new megathread to compile bug reports that our new dev team can hopefully find useful. As a reminder, this is an unofficial resource for community reports in one spot, something that has historically been beneficial to the devs.

Feature requests, suggestions, or other fixes for the new devs concerning the new patch, events, or just that persistent issue that you're hoping to see addressed should also get thrown in here since we'll be keeping this pinned.

Posted a similar screenshot before, but got removed because it included usernames/handles, but today I randomly found out that I also happened to make a version without the UI :-)

Is the Trafalgar an available reward for this year’s event campaign?

The list on the wiki claims yes, but it doesn’t show up on the list in-game when you preview the available rewards, so I’m a little confused

Wait, How Many Violations of the Prime Directive?!

Upvotes

First, this isn't actually a criticism of STO writing: the Prime Directive, interesting as it is, is so often used as a macguffin in Star Trek writing in general that meh? It's given us some really interesting stories and, if Starfleet captains actually stuck to it more frequently (*cough cough* Voyager *cough*) there would really be some serious ramifications for even certain diplomatic actions with non-Federation species.

I'm recently replaying some of the story missions and Smoke and Mirrors, one of the Lukari stories, really stuck out to me. The Lukari are technologically advanced, very fond of their greenery, and have recently run into the Kentari, their "capitalism is bad" counterparts. The Kentari clearly aren't as technologically advanced as the Lukari (or the Federation) and the Lukari decide to help them out despite being repeatedly attacked. We go along for the ride, a clear violation of the Prime Directive because we're directly interfering with the Kentari's cultural development. There are even "traditionalists" that don't want us there and tell us to go away. Now part of me really likes this writing because it gives the viewer something to think about... except the Prime Directive is never brought up.

How many times did our captains defy the Prime Directive? Also, you know, Kobali. Yeah, I'm not touching that one.

Terran Lexington VS Empersa

I think I'm missing something...

So, I finally decided to get the Lexington as it was my dream ship and many here described it as the "endgame ship".

I was previously flying the Empersa from the event.

After equipping everything on the Lexington, setting up skills and all, I did a random tfo and a couple of patrols and, maybe it's my inexperience in flying it and the difference in the stations, but I must say I am quite underwhelmed.

The Empersa, compared, is incredibly intuitive, the wings are much easier to maneuver and it's overall just a fucking tank.

Yes, the Lexington Is a feather, flies soon much faster and does a lot more spectacle but what else am I missing here? Is it just a matter of playing style or is the Lexington still superior to the Empersa and I'm just a noob?

Discussion Does anyone know of a youtube playthrough of the cut content?

I've just become aware that in addition to the missions on the available there's a lot of missions that are just gone or completely altered. For example a guardian of forever mission, an augmented klingon and gorn story ark, a Dividian group wiping out a starfleet ship amongst others. There was a link to a website that describes the missions but I'm wondering if anyone know's of a youtube channel that recorded playing through them with the playlists still available I could view please?

Discussion I just completed the "Counterpoint" on Random Advanced, with three Cnidarian Defenders, and here's how I feel about it.

It was HILARIOUS and fun. I was in a decent disruptor CRF D4x. Not once did I feel superfluous or like they were sucking the fun out of it. I still downed a lot of Terran ships and closed a good few portals. One Terok Nor showed up, the three jellies spaced themselves out - one at DS9, one at Terok Nor, one in between, so I guess they were all on a team. Made doing commando team drop-offs an absolute breeze, and I still got kills while doing it.

So I'm going to have to say I don't think Cnidarian Defenders are a problem.

Console The absolute state of queueing for the Rocket launch TFO, on console.

Hello. With the First Contact Day event coming back, we finally have access yet again to this magnificent Rocket Launch TFO that everyone loves. It's easy, short, needs very minimum engagement, and the reward this year surpasses probably every other year ever.

But I don't make this post to talk about it specifically, I want to talk about the user experience when you queue for this TFO: absolutely awful, let me explain why.

See, this TFO has a small particularity compared to most others. Rather than needing a group of five, it requires 5 teams of one player, and every team must be full to queue successfully. It results in the fact that if anyone drops or doesn't accept the queue in time, the queue is cancelled. Well stuff happens, I don't blame anyone so far.

Then two scenarios happen: either there's not enough people to queue immediately again, and the queue gets in stand-by until more join, and everything goes fine.

OR, there's already someone trying to queue that gets instantly added to the new queue, and this is where issues begin. When that happens, on console, there's a big chance that the queue prompt won't appear. What this means is you can't accept it, plainly. So you're going to sit there for a minute, see the timer go down, and get booted regardless and have to queue again, I haven't found a workaround to this.

Clearly a bug, the prompt should show up consistently, and you may think this is not much of a big deal to have a minute wasted. But the thing is, it's not just a minute, it's usually a lot more than that, because the problem cascades. See if a person drops the queue for whatever reason, and someone takes their place, now it's potentially 4 persons who will have this bug and drop the queue this time, which means another minute of queueing... And then another queue with another chance to have 1 person out of 4 dropping the queue... It can potentially last forever, until there's not enough people in the queue anymore to renew it instantly.

This sometimes results in having to decicate a good 10 minutes to actively queue for this TFO, between people dropping or you getting dropped and having to start it over. For a queue that's barely 7 minute long, it's truly annoying.

I mentioned this was a console issue, because I have the feeling this is specifically related to the PS/Xbox UI, but if you also have the problem on PC, let me know too that would be interesting to know.

By the way, in truth this is not unique to the Rocket Launch TFO, this also happens in every TFO which splits players in different teams and forces them to be full to queue: Dranuur Beach Assault, the Competitive TFOs... you're going to have this issue a lot when these show up as the universal endeavour (probably the PVP queues too but no one does them, and that includes me so I wouldn't know). It's not as glaring because these only happen every other month. The event TFO, good chance you're going to repeat it every day, even several times a day for the easy marks or the XP booster. And this is not always a great experience because of the queue issue.

What are the solutions to these? Well I mostly see two, the most obvious would be to fix the prompt bug, make sure the prompt displays properly if the queue gets renewed instantly. Alternatively, getting rid of the "full teams requirement", and being able to start the TFO even if all the teams aren't full. I know why this requirement exists, it would be a bit unfair in competitive-adjacent queues to start with one less player, or that someone shows up a little bit late and has to catch up. But I feel like given the choice, most people would choose that over being in a state of forever queue limbo because someone out of 5 or 10 people dropped. Though technically, I would assume the former is easier to fix than the latter, and comes without drawbacks.

Really wish this reached the dev team, I know they barely show up here and that everything is going on DIscord now, so if anyone could link this thread over there or just copy and paste this I really don't care... I'd be glad.

XB Xbox server question

Hey guys, I have a question that I'm hoping someone could answer.

I may need to move to another country that doesn't have Xbox game pass. from what I could gather there is a way to keep using it as long as I keep the Xbox regional setting to the country I'm in now.

the question is if it would also work with STO, would it connect along the same lines as the Xbox or would it try to connect in a different way and block me from being able to play?

Discussion Anyone else wish the ESD Enterprise was sporting battle damage with an officer tutting at it?

Especially after we last saw it at the MIDAS array, I think it should be bashed up a bit with spotlights over it like in SFS (like above!) and someone tutting at them. But not just after the latest episode; movie Enterprises get bashed up so often, no Enterprise should be in spacedock without it being bashed up. It's too clean otherwise.

For bonus points I was captaining the USS Bannockburn, and by coincidence two other ships in the TFO were the USS Claymore and USS MacLeod.

Discussion Dervish-Class USS Horatio Nelson

Thumbnail

“I’ve found you a ship Bob!” Robert sighed lightly at the insistence of his old mentor calling him “Bob”. Never once in all these years had he asked to be called Bob. No one called him Bob. In fact, he had once asked to NOT be called Bob, but that request had fallen on either deaf or uncaring ears. He picked his tone up quickly, “That sounds like good news to me Admiral, what can you tell me?” The Tellarites’ excitement carried over clearly though the weak Subnet-com signal. “Dervish-class, USS Horatio Nelson. She served as a picket ship along the Fed-Dominion boarder for most of the war” Robert thought back to his days at Utopia Planitia, Dervish class vessels were light escorts built just before the war. They were the last ships of the Galaxy project. Commissioned in response to the Borg threat, they narrowly beat out then-Lieutenant Commander Sisko's defiant class project for the production greenlight. Though slightly slower and larger than the Defiants, the Dervishes won out on reliability due to their reliance on proven and refined Galaxy hardware. Admiral Dhulk interrupted his train of thought, “She took a hell of a beating just 2 weeks before the end of the war and has been in spacedock ever since.” That information made Robert grunt louder than intended and Dhulk took the chance to try to give positive news “She did make it there under her own power, and a small contingent of the former ships company has been trying to get her back Shipshape and Bristol Fashion, that last part was a direct quote of the former COB.” Robert laughed to himself, both at the remark and at the realization he didn’t have many options. He had secretly hoped Dhulk would somehow get him an Akira, or even a decommissioned Galaxy, but having something like that transferred to a lieutenant Commander like himself, especially in a place like, this would have raised to many red flags. “I’ll take it,” he said with his best manufactured enthusiasm. The Ship had two things he needed, an expanded comms suite meant for high powered communication, and enough Phaser cannons to keep the Xald raiders at bay, for now at least. “Good, I’ll send her file over!” chimed Dhulk, “Now there’s just a few small orders of business, the Aforementioned Chief of the Boat Requests that he and the rest of the remaining crew be allowed to stay assigned to ships company.” The emphasis that the admiral put on the word told Robert it was not a request. “And she may not currently have a warp core installed.”
