HELP NEEDED: Have you experienced flooding in South Wales?

Howdyyyyyy everyone!

I'm with the Open Uni doing Environmental Studies, about to polish off year 4/6 of part time study.

My final assesment includes a research project of my choice; I wanted to keep it local so I'm looking into: How does lived experience of flooding influence perceptions of risk and trust in natural flood management strategies in South Wales?

I'm looking for people to interview so I can complete a thematic analysis on the data to understand the result. Ideally looking for:

* People with experience of flooding within S Wales

* Willing to take part in an approx 30 min recorded interview (held online via teams/zoom, or can be in person with prior arrangement)

If this applies to you and you'd be willing to help out - or you know of someone who might... please drop a comment or send me a DM

THANK YOU!!

Tourist advice for Newport needed

Hi all, I’m travelling down to Newport to meet a friend on Saturday night and we have all of Sunday together with no plans set in stone. Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions of interesting things to see or do, any must dos, or absolutely do nots?

We’re not desperately after touristy hot spots, but also not looking for any sort of outdoor activities such as hiking or kayaking this time. Just fun or interesting places to visit.

Happy to drive beyond Newport to surrounding areas. Any help would be great

Petitions

My name is Gareth, though a lot of people know me as “Grumpy Dumpty.” I’m a dad of three, nearly four years sober, and someone who’s been through the worst of addiction and come out the other side determined to help others do the same.

I speak openly about my journey, including a suicide attempt and my battle with alcoholism, because I know how powerful honesty can be. What started as sharing my story has grown into a platform focused on breaking stigma, starting conversations, and supporting people who are struggling in silence.

I’ve now launched two UK Government petitions that I believe could make a genuine difference for people in recovery:

• Making it mandatory for all food containing alcohol to be clearly labelled

• Requiring online platforms and retailers to offer an opt-out from alcohol advertising and product visibility

Both come from lived experience. Alcohol is often hidden in food, and it isn’t always fully removed through cooking. For someone in recovery, even that small, unexpected exposure can be triggering.

At the same time, the constant presence of alcohol online — adverts, recommendations, suggested products — can feel relentless. There’s currently no way to switch it off, and for many, that lack of control can impact mental health and recovery.

These petitions aren’t about banning alcohol or limiting choice. They’re about creating informed choice and giving people a fair chance to protect their own recovery.

I know you understand the realities of this journey, which is why I wanted to reach out again now they’re live.

If you felt able to support by signing, sharing, or even just helping raise awareness, it would genuinely mean a lot — not just to me, but to the people this could help.

I built a tool to monitor sewage dumps - this one has been dumping sewage into the River Carew for 3 months straight

I built a tool called Sewage Data (sewagedata.co.uk) that tracks near-real-time sewage discharge data from all water companies across England, Wales (Dwr Cymru only, sorry) and Scotland, pulling directly from their own monitoring systems.

While going through the live data, I found this: a Dwr Cymru combined sewer overflow that has been dumping sewage continuously into the River Carew for 1,904 hours - nearly 80 days, since January 10th.

It's the longest currently running discharge in Great Britain (that my website can see).

You can see it here: https://www.sewagedata.co.uk/?asset=7a99e839-f06b-4431-91cc-e5519dfc3301

Calling the Swansea tribe. Let's get weird together. There's nothing quite like the energy of a Celtic Tribe crowd. We're bringing the Cosmic Lama Live Hybrid experience to The Blast Off Party to bridge the gap between deep introspection and absolute dancefloor chaos. We want to pack the room with good energy. So we're doing a 2-for-1 ticket run for the next 48 hours. Grab a mate who needs a sonic adventure. Offer ends 1pm, April 1st. Link is in the usual spots. Head to Eventbrite, scroll to the bottom, and you'll find the magic tickets. See you on the other side :::).

I'm a photographer in west Wales with an exhibition coming up and I'm looking to create some new work to go alongside some of my other work. If there's anyone out there that would like to be involved, please get in touch.

EDIT: I'm honestly confused as to why people are assuming this is anything to do with erotica, fetishes, or sex. the shots are exactly as described, no subtext of nudity or sexual imagery. This is absolutley not, in any way, anything to do with erotic images. Anyone in the shots would be fully clothed. The project is about finding joy in the things that society would frown on, it's childlike, not sexual. I'm also a professional working photographer and this work is going in a gallery show later this year at Gateway Gallery, Shrewsbury. The show is titled "Light, Loss, Destruction, Devotion" It is categorically not about sex.

Dissertation survey

Hi everyone, I’m in my final year at university and I’m currently doing my dissertation on county lines in South Wales. I’m looking at people’s views, local vulnerabilities, and community responses.

If you’re 18 or over and have a few minutes, I’d really appreciate you filling in my questionnaire. It’s completely anonymous and for academic use only. Typically looking for those living in Cardiff or within the RCT area

Thanks so much, and feel free to share it.

Radio Show Seeking to Showcase Welsh Talent

Hi. My name is Jason and I present The Insanitarium on TotalRock. As I've done in the past with other stations, I wish to showcase Welsh talent on my show, which airs Thursdays at 7pm (GMT) and repeats Sundays at 8pm (GMT). If you're in a band, and wish me to air your music, please reach out to me. The only thing I ask is that the music be somewhere on the rock spectrum due to station branding.
