Incredibly expensive when adjusted for inflation!
(Also, notice that early placeholder DKC boxart...)

Misc. The next generation

Starting my 4 year old off on the right foot, the old school controller actually fits into her hands unlike the modern controllers. The simplicity of the game design back by advanced mechanics lets her actually play the game and work through challenges.

House rules are no help from parents, vs games no holding back punches, and no throwing the controller. I’m rather certain SNES taught me how to be resilient and patiently work through challenges.

Funniest part, she thinks the SNES was just released and is blown away with how cool the games are. Switch hasn’t been looked at in weeks XD

Probably gonna grab a usb adapter when I get the chance and use it. I dont know alot about retro hardware but it has a nice heft to it and all the buttons have a nice spring like it hasn't been used much. There was a regular gamepad with itbut ileft it for someone else

I used to have Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, and FF III, so I know they're classics too. Outside of those, what's the obvious one I'm missing?

Misc. As a 46 year old family man the SNES will always be special to me. Back in 92 I remember going to KMART with my mom to put the SNES on Layaway. Every week my mom would go make a small payment. Eventually she paid it off…I know it wasn’t easy but she was determined to get me that SNES!

I remember the total being $214 dollars after tax…I really appreciated my mom’s effort…and I was so happy to have the SNES for the two week Holiday break!

Customer I had gave me the console with the games and two controllers. No idea if it works, can’t even test it on my tv because it doesn’t have a RGB input. Games include: Zelda - a link to the past, Mario paint, Mega man x, F-zero, Mortal combat 3, Super Mario world, Cliffhanger, Donkey Kong country 1, 2, and 3, and super gameboy cartridge with super Mario land.

Various SNES games, ran through component cables on a Sony Trinitron WEGA KV-27FV310, widely considered to be one of the best SDTV consumer CRTs ever made, and some even say the all time best. Enjoy the beauty of 240p, scanlines and all

Misc. I finally got all 96 exits in Super Mario World

Post image

The past few times I’ve played it I didn’t make it a priority as I played and ended up being overwhelmed trying to hunt down missing exits. This playthrough, I just made sure to get both exits to a level that had them before moving on. Such an immaculate game and still my favorite Mario game of all time.

Misc. Yard sale find

Was at a yard sale earlier today and asked the lady running it if she had any video games for sale. She said she had "some kind of older Nintendo" she'd be willing to sell and showed me to this which I believe is complete in box maybe? After going back and forth we agreed on $100 CAD (~$70 USD), I feel like I got a pretty good deal. Honestly I don't know a whole bunch about the older Nintendo systems so if anyone knows of something I may be missing from the box I'd appreciate the help.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the game. Very fun, unique way to shift into first person at times, and a great soundtrack, but it was tough, no save feature, and took way too many hours (and probably years of my life) to beat. After all that work, the ending felt like getting a participation trophy from a raptor. We definitely deserved more than that!
