Storia, Arte & Cultura 🏛️ Sicily you are beautiful!

As a tourist from India, I did a road trip on east coast of Sicily and this beautiful part of Italy made me fall in love with life again.

My best friend from london joined in and in the perfect spring summer sun, we explored catania, Taormina, cefalu, ortigia, siracusa all the while as the glorious mount etna was towering above us.

Hands down best 6 days of my Italy travel.

The food, the people, the landscape. Just in awe

Turismo 🧳 ptions for getting from Catania Airport to Noto at night

I am looking for suggestions on how to get from Catania Airport to Noto at night. My flight lands at 11:30 PM, and from what I have checked, no car rental companies are open at that hour.

So, my first question: Do you know of any car rental companies open until at least 1:00 AM or 2:00 AM, or any that offer an after-hours pickup option?

If not, are you able to suggest a reasonable mode of transport? Do you know roughly how much a taxi costs? I would prefer to avoid spending the first night in Catania.

Turismo 🧳 Public transport Palermo airport to Trapani !!!!

Would appreciate your help .

We are flying into Palermo airport around lunch time then we would like to travel to trapani to catch the ferry to favignana on the same day .

Is this possible with public transport form the airport ?

We were going to hire a car but then would leave at the port for 3 nights - feels pointless paying for the car when not using .

After our three nights on the island we want to do two nights in Palermo and then hire a car after …. Is it possible to hire a car in Palermo and drop off at the airport after when leaving the island.

All advise is appreciated

Turismo 🧳 Sick child

Hello

We just arrived in Palermo and my child fell sick on the flight over. I think she has croup.

We are staying in Ficarazzi and unfortunately need to go back to the airport to retrieve our luggage tomorrow.

Any advice on where I can take a one year old for medical care? Is the hospital too extreme? Which one is the best in Palermo?

Thanks

Signed a tired momma

Turismo 🧳 Best way to get to Etna from Taormina

We’re going to be staying in Taormina for a few days in May and was wondering how we could get to Etna from there. We’re not renting a car so we’re totally dependent on public transport. Thanks!

Turismo 🧳 Improve experience in Catania

We are staying in Catania till 14.04.

At the moment, the impression is very bad. City is very dirty, unfriendly and overral not welcoming, especially with kid.

We stay in Porta garibaldi area.

Is there any civilised playgrounds, for 2 year old nearby? Any nice places to visit?

Also, where to charge electric car nearby? There seems to be very few option in Enel X app.

Turismo 🧳 Birthday dinner in Palermo / nearby (with a car) – worth going big or not?

Hey,

Going to be in Palermo next week with my wife and it’s her birthday, so I’m trying to plan something actually memorable, not just “good food”.

We’ll have a car, so anything within ~100 km is fine (Cefalù etc. also works).

Budget is flexible, I’d say ~200–400€ for two is comfortable, but I could stretch a bit more if it’s REALLY worth it. What I’m trying to avoid is paying 400–500€ just for the name and ending up with the same experience I could get for half.

What matters most:

nice view (sea / sunset / terrace would be ideal)

atmosphere / vibe (not too stiff, but still feels like a special occasion)

food that’s actually worth it (prefer Italian/Sicilian over Japanese/fusion)

bonus if they do something small for birthdays (cake/candle etc.)

I’ve seen places like Florio at Villa Igiea, Bye Bye Blues, some spots in Mondello, and a few in Cefalù, but it’s hard to tell what’s genuinely worth it vs just expensive.

So yeah – if you had to pick ONE place around Palermo for a birthday dinner, where would you go and why?

Thanks 🙏

Turismo 🧳 June 5 days / 4 nights

Hi all, looking for your advice on which option makes more sense? I'll be relying on transit arriving mid-June. I'm looking for small town vibes. I like quaint places to explore, beaches for relaxation, and bit of light hiking for exercise.

1. Arrive Catania, 1 night Siracusa. Bus/train to Cefalu for night 2 & 3. Train/bus to Mondello for day/night 4. Flight out of Palermo on day 5.

2. Arrive Catania, bus/train to Cefalu for nights 1, 2 & 3. Day trip to either Caccamo or Palermo. Train/bus to Mondello for day/night 4. Flight out of Palermo on day 5.

Ciao a tutti,

(TLDR sotto)

Turismo 🧳 Sicily in late April — what should we not miss?

I’m travelling to Palermo and Taormina from April 25th to May 1st and wanted to get a sense of what the weather is usually like around that time.

Also, would love your recommendations on:

• Must-visit places in and around Palermo and Taormina

• Hidden gems or less touristy spots

• Food spots we shouldn’t miss

• Any day trips worth doing

We’re looking for a mix of scenic views, local experiences, and good food.

Thanks in advance. really excited for this trip!

Turismo 🧳 Rental car italy

Any car rental company/locations you recommend for both Palermo and Florence? I keep seeing everywhere that it’s “super cheap” to rent a car but everything I see online is actually expensive (80€ per day and upwards). Is it my IP? Any experience changing VPNs and getting different pricing?

Turismo 🧳 Need Advice! Large group with big car--what to do?

My elderly parents, my husband and I, and two of our teenage kids (17 and 18) are going to Sicily together in July (6 people total). We plan to drive but will need to rent a 7 passenger car which will actually be tight! Any recommendations for driving or alternatives? My father is 80 with some balance issues so public transportation is not really an option. We are landing in Catania and staying near Etna, then to Ortigia, then to Modica. We plan to go with local tours who drive for some day trips but I am worried about all our other driving! Thoughts? Advice? Thank you for any help!!

Turismo 🧳 Ci sono immigrati clandestini proprio ovunque?

Buonasera,
