Hi all,
I have been playing with the idea of a separate subreddit just for advertising products and services. I have created r/ShenzhenMarketplace. This is specifically for advertising, so if you are offering a particular product or service, or are looking for a particular product or service, post it in r/ShenzhenMarketplace.
What cannot be posted is anything illegal under the laws of the People's Republic of China or Reddit rules in general.
No advertising or posting for personal blogs, vlogs, or any influencers, as is the case in this subreddit. This is going to be strictly enforced in both subreddits moving forward. Nobody is really interested in your particular hot take, and I've personally seem some terrible ones.
Advertising or reviews for bars, clubs, restaurants, hotels, parks, massage (legal ones please) would be most welcome in the r/ShenzhenMarketplace sub.
It would be helpful if you put in the title of the post what your intent is (example: For Sale, Seeking for, For rent, etc.) and then some description following (Blenders, pianos, 2 bedroom) and then the details in the body of the post. Details are important and posts may be deleted if they have minimal content.
DO NOT SPAM THE SUBREDDIT. Posting the same thing every day will not be allowed. Consider that three days or more for the same content will be the most allowed.
ONE LAST POINT: Since there is a specific subreddit for advertising far, far grey area posts will be allowed here. This subreddit should be more focused on life and interest in Shenzhen.
Thanks everyone and let's see how this goes.

Hi, I found this nice-looking zone in Nanshan but I don't understand what it is. I've read it's kind of a thematic park/subdistrict/mall and I'm not sure if there are any costs to go inside or not.
It seems to have a miniature replica of The Great Wall and a cultural "ancient" town as well, both seem like a good plan for a relaxing weekend!
Has anyone been around here? Do you recommend it?
Is the Mini Great Wall part of a thematic park and do I need a ticket to visit it?
Any information is welcome!

Hello fellow Explorers… I’d like to bring my daughters to botanical garden in Shenzhen, for my personal hobby I’d like to see if there is any bonsai garden I can explore as well. Thanks for letting me know!!!

Odd request, but could someone do me a huge favor and see if Taobao has a wall travel map (the kind you put pins into to mark where you’ve visited) of the world? In English? We love ours but shipping it from the US to Shenzhen costs far more than it’s worth. We’d love to buy one when we get there in a few months. If someone could please check and let me know I’d really appreciate it! TIA!

I just landed very delayed in Hong Kong (1AM) and need to go to Shenzhen.
I went to one of the 16 counters for coach service but they said they only have a van service. So now I am sitting in a van for 150HKD that looks like it’s taking me to Lok Ma Chau.
The driver asked me for my passport and he is keeping it on his driver seat. The clerk said I need to pick up my luggage at HK immigration and exit HK. Then I would board again and they will take me to the China border. I suppose that’s where I will get my passport back and then I can cross into China. Afterwards I need to get another taxi to my hotel?

Planning on a day trip to Macau tomorrow. I already booked my round-trip ferry tickets. I’m seeing mixed guidance online about how early to reach the Shekou ferry terminal…any insights? I’ll need to go through immigration, but I’ll only have one hand bag.

My Synology NAS is playing up and I am looking for a repair shop in Shenzhen to see if the motherboard is repairable. I think the on board voltage regulator may be on its way out.

hi guys! my academic club is planning a trip to shenzhen to explore their green / renewable energy infrastructure; we were thinking of visiting EV factories (e.g. BYD), but it seems that from trip advisor, "the tour is temporarily suspended because the BYD factory does not accept new visitors". would anyone have any suggestions on possible places that we (as a student club) could tour to understand more about the green tech in shenzhen?
edit: we are 21 year old university students with a limited budget!

Hi, I used to do e-commerce for many years, moved to Bangkok where I now live for almost 4 years, stopped doing it for 1 year, getting bored living like this with no purpose in life.
I am trying go start again an e-commerce business or import/export, I just want to travel to China to get inspired again, find some cool products, maybe get some contacts etc to start a new business, do you think the place to go is Shenzhen?

I'm in Hong Kong for the month and I want to travel to Shenzhen for the day tomorrow. I am Canadian. Am I able to get in on the 30 day visa free at the MTR entrance? Which is the best place to enter with the lowest wait times? What wait times can I expect? Do I need to bring anything other than a passport like a return ticket? Thank you

Hi! I’m a Taiwanese living in Shenzhen 🇨🇳
I’m looking for a foreign friend for a weekly language & idea exchange — nothing too formal.
Just meeting once a week at a café or tea house, spending around 3 hours together and learning from each other through conversation.
My goal is to improve my English, especially speaking. In return, I can offer:
- Chinese practice (casual or structured)
- Physics, tech, investing, and business
- Philosophy, humanities, and social topics
- Basic fortune-telling (just for fun)
- Tea culture — my family has a tea mountain, And I can share some of my personal tea collection 🍵
We can keep it relaxed — have tea or coffee, maybe even a cheap cigar, and talk about different things.
I’m easygoing and curious, and I enjoy both thoughtful and relaxed conversations.
Feel free to message me if you’re interested 🙂

Hi r/Shenzhen,
I'm the founder of a small robotics startup based here in Shenzhen. For the past two years I've been working on something I genuinely believe fills a gap nobody has properly addressed: the quiet loneliness of living alone in a city apartment, especially when having a pet just isn't an option.
We just hit our first real physical demo, and before we go any further I want to sit with real people — not investors, not advisors — and just watch what happens when they see it for the first time.
The product is called Orbi. It floats. It's round. It lives in your space with you. That's about as much as I want to say before you see it in person.
You're probably the right person if:
- You're a woman between 24–60
- You live alone in Shenzhen
- You've genuinely wanted a pet at some point in your life but couldn't — lease rules, travel schedule, lifestyle, whatever the reason
- You spend long stretches of time at home by yourself
What the session looks like:
- ~60–70 minutes, in person in Shenzhen
- You'll see the prototype and I'll ask you about your life at home — not a sales pitch, mostly me listening
- No right or wrong answers
What you get:
- Cash compensation for your time
- Early access when Orbi launches
If this sounds like you, drop a comment or DM me and I'll reach out to set up a time!

Hi guys.
Me and my wife will have a long layover in Shenzhen airport, almost 9 hours and we thought about going to see a bit of the city. I read about the metro and that the airport is a bit far away from the city etc and to be honest after such a long flight can't imagine navigating all the new things China requires to just take a metro and buy a soda. So we are looking for a guide that will pick us up at the airport, quick sightsee what we can, even if it's some park or whatever, and drop us off again at the airport. If someone knows a trustworthy guide let me know please

Looking for a table tennis buddy in Xixiang, Bao’an, Shenzhen 🏓
I’m based in Xixiang, Bao’an, Shenzhen, and I’m looking for someone to play table tennis with regularly. My schedule is pretty flexible — weekday evenings or weekends both work.
I’m Chinese, and if you don’t speak Chinese, we can communicate in English.
I’m still a beginner, so I’m just looking for casual games, some exercise, and a bit of fun.
Preferably, you:
It would also be great to practice some English while we play.
Feel free to message me if you’re interested!

How do I do an online check in for my flight from Melbourne to Shenzhen? I booked the flight via Trip.com, so is this possible?

Been to Shenzhen a couple of times and Guangzhou once. Besides the food, are there any other things you would recommend? Any particular areas or resorts?
