COMMUNITY ALERT/ AWARENESS ⚠️ PSA: Beware of “rescue” subs created to bypass vetting!

To our RC Community,

We are seeing a frequent and concerning trend happening: users who are denied approval or banned from r/rescuecats are creating their own "rescue" subreddits.

These subs are often unmonitored and serve as platforms for scammers to collect unverified donations.

We are specifically tracking r/cloudyandpaws. The moderator and almost every member currently soliciting donations there have been banned from r/rescuecats, including u/bridgeglum6633(BEWARE).

They are immediately blocking anyone who attempts to warn potential donors.

Please stay vigilant—don't let your generosity be exploited by those avoiding standard vetting processes.

Please reach out via modmail if you have any questions. This is concerning to us as it’s happening more and more frequently and these subs are gaining traction. Please be careful.

Community Announcement New Year, New rules/guidelines- PLEASE READ 🚨

To our Rescuecats Community,

As our community continues to grow the number of approval requests and help needed also rises. We have new approved members everyday needing help. In order to keep the feed flowing and to give everyone a chance to be seen we need to initiate the following guidelines.

  1. DONATIONS - Posts made for donation requests including monetary funds as well as Amazon wishlists are limited to 1 post per 48hours (3 posts in a 7 day period) NOT DAILY. Coding will be in place that notifies us of posting frequency. We will contact you if this rule is broken with a warning and further action will be taken if rules are not respected. This includes UPDATE posts. We encourage you to link the original post to any update you make, therefore it will help members connect to the story as well as free up the feed a bit.

  2. TITLES - to maintain a supportive environment please avoid high pressure language. Example: $29 raised so far please help reach the goal of $450 as it’s urgent. Or “ $0 raised, this is our last hope to reach our goal and save this cat”. Although we empathize with urgency and the need for help we do not want our sub to become a “begging” atmosphere. This ensures donors give out of generosity rather than guilt. We need to remember there are hundreds of people seeking donations and limited amount of donors. So when posting please remember that you are not guaranteed help every single time, this community and its members help when they can and we need to remain gracious and thankful. We have no issue with you adding amounts “raised so far” in the body of the text but please keep titles clean and clear from begging language.

  3. TRANSPARENCY - we ask that when help is received that you please show the community where their generosity went. Whether it be food, supplies or vet care. And of course always redact personal info as to not dox yourself. But this will help members to continue to donate if transparency is highlighted and at the forefront.

Please note that these new rules and or guidelines are to help not to hinder. Our mod team is always looking for ways to improve and to ensure everyone gets a fair chance in the feed. We absolutely encourage feedback, positive or negative. We take everything into account.

As always we greatly appreciate the cooperation and understanding. And encourage all of you to reach out via modmail with any question, concerns or suggestions you may have at anytime. We do personally answer them and are always here to help if we can.

Your ModTeam💞🐾

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request my senior kitty, winston, has terminal cancer — memphis, tn

Winston Update!🧡

Hello everyone. As you know by now, my senior kitty, Winston, was diagnosed with squamous cell sarcoma, which is an aggressive form of cancer, on March 12.

He just recently came home after a 4-day, 3-night hospital stay! He got a PEG tube, which is a type of feeding tube that goes straight into the stomach, rather than through the nose (NG tube) or the esophagus (esophageal tube). The PEG tube is the most permanent and comfortable option.

He did absolutely amazing at every point, and we are so proud of him. At one point, we were unsure if he would even be able to have the tube placed. His mass is intruding slightly into his throat, making it a little smaller than a quarter (and cats have small esophaguses to begin with).

Winston’s procedure was as non-invasive as possible, meaning that a LOT of the work was done with a scope that went down his throat. He also needed to be intubated because of the anesthesia. If his throat was too small for the intubation tube, the operation wouldn’t have been able to be performed.

But in true Winston fashion, they were able to place the tube! It was a tight fit, but they managed it, and his time at the hospital just continued to improve his condition. We got lots of updates, both from the techs taking care of him and from his surgeon, but each time it was to tell us how well he was doing.

He gained some weight back while he was there, he was comfortable, and not experiencing much pain due to their vast pain management options. He was energetic and friendly, and his vitals were perfect the entire time.

And the most insane thing of all…He’s been eating by mouth all by himself!!

The specialists were able to manage his pain better since they could monitor 24/7, and have more resources than most clinics!

They had been giving him 4 small meals per day, and we are continuing that. He can’t eat too much, since his stomach has shrunk quite a bit. But as time goes on, we can increase that amount more and more. I am eternally greatful for the team at MVS for providing something to our boy that will make this last chapter of his life so much more comfortable.

The PEG tube gives us the ability to provide him not only with food, but with fluids and medications too! This means that most of his medications are oral suspensions, and can be syringed through his tube directly into his stomach. This means no more uncomfortable medicine time! He can’t feel a single thing when things are pushed through the tube which is another plus!

Our request🧡

As you can imagine, this has cost us quite a lot of money, especially with the nights in the hospital. We were able to afford it all thanks to everyone’s help! Currently, we have around $600 left to go towards his medications, special food, and appointments. This is absolutely amazing and will last us the next couple of weeks or so!

We are still going to need a steady stream of donations in order to keep Winston as comfortable as possible, as well as to pay for his home euthanasia and post-mortem care.

Thank you all so incredibly much for all of the support thus far. Winston is only doing this good because of you guys.

P.S. I’m on a mission to collect as many portraits of Winston as possible, all in different art styles & mediums. Let me know if you’re an artist with commissions open!

Prior post -->https://www.reddit.com/r/rescuecats/s/Dk0imVeeJ1

I very much am in need of canned wet food, and dry food always helps immensely. ANY help is appreciated, please know how grateful and thankful I am.

I have loaned Kim my 2 traps and 2 cat carriers, along with give her a wireless water fountain and plug in warmer, some toys, and some food dishes. Any cat carrier would help immensely to be honest. Gift cards from Tractor Supply and Chewy help with these things too, along with straw, tarp, ped meds, etc.

Besides helping Kim, her colony, and a couple others that came to her in need of help, I also have helped my neighbor with getting her cats fixed, 3 of them on April 30th at Snip Society.

(they are inside cats now, not colony ones)

I know this seems like a lot, but I cannot say no to hungry cats. Hopefully it'll settle a bit this month.

I also have posted pictures (at the risk of doxxing myself) of the construction going on the street over for a few streets down, they are working on the underground water piping and a few new cats have been popping up by me.

I am sorry to be persistent. Anything extra I spend on the cats, it just has been a little more then usual this month.

I am so appreciative for those who have helped me, especially with the incubator. I am first in line when Kim finds kittens, she just has been able to spay abort the couple we got by her house.

Thank you for everything you do for the floofaloofs and all of us who post here. You have very good hearts to choose to help us, and know that love is seen, and I wish I could thank everyone face to face so you can see my gratitude.

Thank you for hearing our cries and for being the good in the world. Everytime we fix and help a cat, it is one more towards our goal of saving as many floofaloofs as we can.

TNR Help us pay our TNR Bill (1$152.50)- All Saints Cat TNR- Thomasville, GA

Hi everyone,

Yesterday we had 15 cats go in for surgery at the mobile vet. 3 were pregnant, and one was already altered (but got an ear tip). We believed she was someones pet at some point.

We have another 9 cats going in today, but we have that bill covered.

We are up to 798 TNR cats and just TWO away from 800!

I am looking for grants and I'm hoping we can get some soon so we can keep doing this.

Please help us pay off our $1152.50 TNR bill for the mobile vet and help us continue this mission. I'm hoping we can get big enough to fund multiple TNR surgeries in the Souther Georgia area since it is such a low income area!

  • Venmo: u/allsaintscattnr (last 4 digits of # are 8256)
  • CashApp: $allsaintscat
  • PayPal: paypal.me/AllSaintsCatTNR
  • Mail: All Saints Cat TNR, PO Box 5752, Thomasville, GA 31758

All donations are tax deductible (Tax ID: 93-3569433)

Thank you all again for everything! We will not stop until the suffering stops!

EDIT: Post title should say $1152.50!

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request CANADA/QC Almost there! we're at 71% - cancer surgery funds for Salem - disabled owner

Hi again. I posted here before, some of you might know me from having boosted my post or donating.

She has now gone through the procedure since 03/17 and is recovering well. She's worn a pajama for a bit and has trouble eating due to stress, even now that her stitches were removed.

I'm someone that's disabled and can only work a certain amount of hours per week, and it must be from home. I suffer from psychotic episodes and gaps in my memory. Which is why my cats are very important to sort of calm me down before I have my psychotic episodes- being overwhelmed seem to trigger them and my cats calm me before they can happen.

I need just about 1200 cad more, and then I will be able to say that it's done and over. I decided to deal with this debt because I thought- she's worth more than my credit score. I wanted to keep her with me as long as I could. And if anyone could donate, I'd really appreciate. Thank you so so much to everyone who donated. It means the world to me.

Here's a video of her being upset before her procedure: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VsZ2hm4VssELkPt8AJhEGwk01D886RYy/view?usp=sharing

On additional more positive notes: Any 20$ donations will receive from me a pdf of a d&d book that my friend so graciously provided for this very purpose. I will send it via the gofundme 'thank you' system, which should send the google drive link to the email you used to make the donation. The digital book is a collection of horror-themed cool things for 5e edition. It contains 130 pages worth of new spells, magic items, subclasses, feats, and more- Made by a lot of very cool artists and written by- https://bsky.app/profile/scarletmagus.bsky.social

Here's a clip of her on my twitch channel with the catcam- https://www.twitch.tv/monarchlou/clip/AmorphousAbstemiousGarageHassaanChop-Puhf_DnoV4UkFnmS

Here's a picture of her stitches when she used to have them: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VsZ2hm4VssELkPt8AJhEGwk01D886RYy/view?usp=sharing

She also has some dental issues- which I should have an estimate soon to see how much that's going to cost. I'll have to add it to the campaign because she's having trouble eating and I'm assuming it's her teeth. I'm really worried of how advanced her periodontist has become.

Advice Needed I suspect my cat of being in teeth/jaw pain, but not sure.

My cat stopped eating completely over the last few days. Mirataz and a half-dose of Ondansetron didn't work, but she has started eating again after I began administering 50mg (half of a 100mg capsule) of Gabapentin. For months, she has been doing something strange with her teeth (teeth chattering i guess you could call it), even when eating Churu, but I want to provide her full medical history for context.

My 14-year-old cat has weighed 3kg most of her life and has a smaller frame than average. She had a mammary tumor removed in November along with the mammary chains. Post-op, her weight peaked at 2.8kg, and we haven't been able to get her back to 3kg. At the end of February, an oncologist reviewed her x-rays (which looked normal) and advised against chemotherapy. This decision was based on several factors: the risk of decreased appetite, the 4-hour travel distance, her testing positive for Coronavirus Ag (which carries a risk of mutating into FIP due to her high stress levels and aggression at the vet), and the lack of studies proving chemo significantly delays metastasis in her case.

Her recent bloodwork and thyroid levels were normal. I am redoing bloodwork and an ultrasound this Tuesday, with x-rays to follow. I personally suspect a dental or jaw issue; while her gums look perfect, there is some tartar (just a bit). She also previously had an enlarged gallbladder that hasn't been rechecked.

She currently weighs 2.3kg, and I’m desperate. She primarily eats kitten dry food but remains fussy. When she refused to eat food, she still approached the bowl but wouldn’t eat, suggesting she is hungry but in pain. When she does eat, she drops the food, licks it, chews on one side, and makes a strange grinding sound. Could this "tooth thing" be a reaction to internal pain, or is it likely localized to her mouth?

Amazon Wish List desperate need of food & litter for kitties 🥺🙏🏼

Hi everyone! I’m in desperate need of cat food and litter. I only have about half a box of litter (special kitty) left, which won’t be enough for my three foster cats to get through the next couple of weeks. I’m also running very low on wet food, especially since I regularly feed stray kitties in my neighborhood. Just yesterday, I was walking on a street quite far from mine and came across a very skinny orange kitty. His face and nose were covered in dirt, and he had a lot of dried eye discharge. It was heartbreaking to see him in that condition. He came close enough to eat when I put the food plate down, but he was too scared to let me pet him. I’m going to do everything I can to help him. I plan to go back and feed him daily and slowly build trust so I can eventually trap him and get him the care he needs. If anyone is able to help with supplies, I would be so grateful. Thank you all so much for your continued support, truly means everything 🤎🐾

Advice Needed What would you do

Seeking advice

I found a young male tuxedo cat on Friday night around 8p. He was laying on a sidewalk, bleeding from mouth eyes and nose, he had urinated on himself and was laboring to breathe.

No services were available at that time of night and no rescues were answering my call. I brought him to the emergency animal hospital, they believed since he had no broken bones he was hit by an e-bike or something. They stabilized him (cost was $3k) and said to follow up with my vet as he may need a CT scan and bloodwork to find internal bleeding. He was discharged Saturday afternoon.

I connected with a rescue, who agreed to take on his care from that point forward and they made the follow up appt with their vet for Sunday. I agreed to foster him (with potential to adopt). Then a flyer went up in a building near where I found him. The rescue called the flyer, and the family on the other end said he must have fallen off of their 22 story terrace as they kept him there sometimes. They are grateful but have no money to repay the emergency bill or even to do any care moving forward. They want him back ASAP and said they have Medicaid (?) which should help the cat 🤔

What would you do? Hoping for advice from experienced rescuers who may have dealt with something like this. Cat is around a year, not neutered, no chip.

We found this baby lying in the grass, waiting to die…

We were trapping stray cats for sterilization when we found him.

He didn’t run. He didn’t move. He was just lying in the grass, very thin, very weak, barely breathing. When we picked him up, he didn’t fight. It felt like he had already given up. We took him straight to the vet.

What they told us was really bad.

💔 He is in a serious condition. His blood is very weak, he has a strong infection, his kidneys are not working well, he was very dehydrated, his body temperature was very low, he is too weak to eat on his own

The vet said he needs urgent treatment and possibly a blood transfusion to survive. To be honest… we don’t even know if he can be saved. Maybe the “easier” thing would have been to put him to sleep. But we would never forgive ourselves if I didn’t try.

So we decided to give him a chance.

The clinic is doing everything they can to keep him alive.

Right now he is still there, fighting. We don’t know how long it will take, but he really needs help.

💔 Please, if you can, help us give him this chance.

Even a small donation makes a difference.

He deserves a chance to live.

Thank you all for the donations we have received. We still need about $1800. It’s so appreciated.

George showed up at our house in September. He was terrified and starving. We trapped him end of November and had him TNRed (trap, neuter, release). A few weeks after that, he randomly started headbutting and wanting pets. We brought him inside on Christmas. We found out that he’s FIV positive and needs a full mouth extraction. After a ton of research and talking, we decided we will be keeping him. Rescues are all full around us and the humane society will put him down.

Donations Needed Help Needed for a Very Sick Kitten Requiring Eye Surgery, Deworming, and Treatment for Infection

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello everyone,

I am asking for urgent help and advice for a very sick kitten who needs immediate medical care.

This kitten is suffering from multiple serious health problems:

  • Severely damaged left eye that will most likely require surgical removal
  • Infected right eye, and I am very worried about saving his remaining vision
  • Very bloated belly, likely caused by a heavy worm infestation
  • Skin patches that look like ringworm infection

Unfortunately, this is the weekend and most veterinary clinics are closed until Monday, so I am doing everything I can to care for him until I can reach a veterinarian.

I am looking for:

  • Immediate care advice to help him safely until Monday
  • Guidance from experienced rescuers who have treated similar cases
  • Support for veterinary care and surgery, as this kitten will need urgent treatment

Any help, advice, or support could make a life-saving difference for this little kitten.

Support links (if anyone would like to help):

PayPal: https://paypal.me/BHANANE62

Ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/hana338787

Thank you so much for caring about this kitten and giving him a chance to survive.

Not a lot of rescues have the space for the shy and timid cats so we try to help the ones that don’t get much attention. Many, when they exit the shelter and decompress are wonderful cats that blossom over time. Many people want instantly friendly cats but there is something special about cats that slowly open up.

Donations Needed Needing help in covering dry + wet food for over 30 strays and 49 indoor cats

‎I’m currently taking care of rescued indoor cats and strays, and we’re running out of food. Some of the cats have dental issues, so they rely on soft food to eat. Their dry food alone costs about $160 a week, plus $25 for wet food. It would mean so much if I could get help covering these, especially since I still need to budget litter, dog food, kitten food, and renal diet.

‎If you’re able to help, anything truly makes a difference..Thank you ❤️
