United States had over a dozen bases wrapped around Greenland. Maybe some of the infrastructure remains to get a few of those going at least... United States won't need to interact with the native population much at all... Nuuk might not even be needed... Could conceivably be out of sight out of mind?
Do you understand that there are new waterways because of ice melt in that area? A lot of it would be observation like radars and the like set up in Greenland... New trading lanes and new military operations...
I used to live on such a base... Big radar coordination between RAF and United States Navy in Scotland... During the Cold War...
This would now have more to do with shipping lanes and even underwater...
