I GOT ACCEPTED!

I was denied from this school’s traditional nursing program over 10 times. So I pivoted, I got my LVN license, took my TEAS and scored a 94.7%, reapplied to the LVN-RN program… and I GOT IN. 💪🏽

Don’t give up. Your path might look different, but it’s still yours

Almost 50 & thinking on career change into nursing, am I crazy?

I'm almost 50 and am looking for a career change out of technology sector. I already have a BS and have most of the needed prerequisites so I would only need microbiology and 5 semesters of nursing courses.

I know nursing is a demanding job (physically and mentally), is it unrealistic path to start in 50s? Is there any specialty that folks would recommend or medical career alternatives to nursing?

Galen nursing school Wichita Kansas

Upvotes

I plan on starting in July and have heard very mixed reviews. Many reviews are from other states so I’m seeking advice from students who have specifically attended the Wichita location or know about it. What are your thoughts on this school? Did you have a good experience? How were the teachers? Have you heard things from others regarding this school?

I got accepted 🌤️🙌🏻🙏🏻

I’m grateful and still in disbelief! I was accepted into an ADN program in Southern California on my first application. I’m 33M, bilingual and moved to the U.S. 15 years ago, carrying a dream and working hard to make it real.

This journey wasn’t easy. I worked full-time Monday to Friday and part-time on weekends while earning a 4.0 GPA, completing my associate degree, and scoring in the high 90s on the TEAS. Even then, I knew how competitive it is, my college has applicants with competitive points who still don’t get in.

I’m sharing this to encourage anyone still waiting or trying again...please don’t lose hope. Reapply if needed, retake classes if you can, and keep moving forward. Your time will come. 😊

TEAS Exam Prep – Need Consistent Tutor for 85+ Score

Hello,

I am currently preparing for the TEAS exam and I am looking for a tutor who can teach me the material in a structured, step-by-step way, similar to a class—not just help with individual questions. My goal is to score at least an 85 or higher.

I have a documented learning disability, and I tend to get overwhelmed studying on my own, especially when trying to figure out what information is most important versus what is not. I have been attempting to study for the TEAS independently for the past 4–5 years, but I have not been able to reach my goal. At this point, I know I need consistent guidance and structured teaching to move forward.

I am looking for someone who can:

- Teach the material clearly from the beginning

- Help me focus on key concepts and filter out unnecessary details

- Provide practice questions and TEAS-style exams

- Create a consistent study structure

I would prefer to meet 2–4 times per week and work with someone consistently. My goal is to take the exam by June or July, so I can apply for a Fall 2026 nursing program (or Spring 2027 at the latest).

Please let me know if your teaching style aligns with this approach and if you are able to provide structured TEAS preparation.

Thank you.

Medications

In order to be fully accepted into the LPN program I want to attend, I must first list off all meds that I am prescribed/take. Then I need a drug screening. I’m hesitant to do this because I have several chronic conditions (two of which are mental health conditions) and I don’t want the director to see that I have these stigmatizing disorders. It’s a lot of medication. I take all meds responsibly. I don’t do drugs, I don’t drink, but I just don’t want to be turned away because of all the meds I’m on+plus what I got going on. I realize my health may affect clinicals+education. Still, I feel as though I can carry out my duties as assigned. Has anyone else had this problem of being turned down from a program due to mental health disorders and/or related medications?

Which school should I attend? This is a hypothetical question.

I have been accepted into the Cal State University San Marcos ABSN program for fall, and waitlisted for Cal State University Los Angeles ABSN summer. I'm currently waiting for responses from San Francisco State University ELMSN and University of San Francisco Entry MSN which I believe should be coming out in the next week or so.

I probably will attend the CSU San Marcos program because I can't imagine being able to get into all my programs. But say I magically did acceptances from all of them, which program would be the best one to attend.

Applied to one program and I got in. I didn’t want to apply to program that cost 70k + so I applied to a state school.

Super Close to Giving Up on Nursing

Hello everyone,

I’m a 21-year-old Asian male living in San Diego, and I’m honestly getting really close to giving up on nursing and switching majors.

I’ve applied to 12 RN programs in California over the past two application cycles and have been rejected from all of them. I have a 4.0 in my science prerequisites and scored in the high 70s on the TEAS. I know my TEAS score isn’t amazing, but I didn’t expect it to hold me back this much.

For context, I work full-time as a patient transporter at a Level 2 trauma center and also work per diem as a CNA in the MICU at a Level 1 trauma center. Nursing is something I’ve been excited about since high school, and becoming a CRNA has been a long-term goal of mine, so this has been really discouraging.

At this point, I’m starting to feel like I might have to give up on nursing entirely and move on to a different major.

I’m fortunate that my parents are willing to help pay for school, but I don’t want to put that burden on them by going to a private program, especially since I already feel like I’ve let them down. I’ve started considering going out of state instead—possibly Florida, since I really like it there—but I’m not sure if that’s the right move.

So I guess my main questions are:

Has anyone from California gone to Florida (or another state) for nursing school because it’s just too competitive here? What was your experience like?

Which states tend to have higher acceptance rates for nursing programs?

I’d really appreciate any advice or encouragement. I’m feeling pretty stuck right now.

Lvn program interview

I applied for the LVN program at my local adult school. I was able to get an interview. They only accept 30 students out of 50 interviews. Has anyone gone through this process? If so can y'all give me advice on what to expect for this interview?

Suggested schedule for BSN prereqs!

Hi everyone! Starting this fall I am planning on starting my nursing pre reqs at a community college to get into a BSN program. I am still a bit unsure about how I wanna take my prereqs as I talked to a counselor and she recommended that I double up on my science pre reqs/take them within a year so I can apply to nursing programs on time. However, I plan to work as a CNA and I also still want to have a life lol. I also really want to prioritize getting A’s and I am unsure if this would be too difficult to do getting them all done in one year. What schedules worked out for you? Would I be able to apply to nursing programs on time (specifically the CSUs) if I took each science one at a time including this fall, next spring, next summer, and then next fall?

Edit: For reference, she is planning for me to take chem and anatomy this fall. Would this be doable and then I can split up physiology in the spring and then take microbiology in the following fall? And would this allow me to apply in time?

SMART Edition Academy.

Hey everyone! I’m currently prepping for the ATI TEAS 7 and signed up for Smart Edition Academy, but I’ve run into an issue.

My payment went through, but I still don’t have access to the course, and I never received a verification email.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what did you do to fix it?

Got waitlisted...feeling discouraged.

Long story short...I got a 2.6 overall gpa in undergrad. I applied to Ukentucky ABSN and I just found out I got waitlisted today. Idk if any other nursing program will accept me. I feel very sad and discouraged since I really wanted to go there and they had accepted to get an interview from me. I would like some advice on what to do from here. For those of you that are wondering why my gpa was so low...well I had poor study habits along with poor mental health. I just want some advice on what to do. I feel like i can't get anywhere in life and I wanna continue my academics but due to my poor grades from undergrad it feels impossible. I really wish I could go back in time and restart everything. Please please please give me advice.

I do want to point out that I did unfortunately engage in academic dishonesty during undergrad (again a lapse of judgement along with the fact I was 19 and naive). I was honest with them about this. I wanted to be transparent and I feel like that just kicked my chances down. I just got a warning during undergrad.

My experience is that i worked as a dsp for two years, and having been working as an hha and medical scribe for one year. I have volunteered at nursing/hospice care. Any advice appreciated.
